When a cop makes a job mistake, someone can get hurt. But its still not a crime. Its time for re-training or other personnel or administrative action, but its not a criminal act and therefore not subject to the criminal courts...just the personnel office.

I took the exam in my state to become a police officer back in the mid 90's. It was literally a literacy exam. However, most municipalities were requiring applicants to have a degree at the time. That left me with only one option, which would have made me an inner city cop.

I ultimately decided not to take the job, for multiple reasons. First was that it was a substantial pay cut from the work that i was already doing, second was that I didn't want to be policing a community that would see me as an outsider, third was that particular police department was notoriously corrupt, and fourth was that it was a job that might require me to kill someone.

I have an IQ over 150. Looking back, I think maybe it would have been a good choice, anyhow, because I would have been striving towards an administrative desk job ASAP and managing cops really isn't a bad job at all. Six figure income, no danger, and never, ever, have to worry about getting fucked over by a cop because I would have a badge myself. Would have been truly comfy...paper pusher with a badge. Oh well, hindsight is so 20/20. I have a high IQ but must be a total autist because I always seem to learn the lessons I really need to learn about 10 or 15 years too late.

Upside is I've never taken a human life. Total loser right now, but pretty much guilt free loser. Next life should be awesome.
