There's no incentive to grow up. You're basically allowed to remain a child forever in modern society, assuming you've been given the right parents to make it possible. I know people who went from highschool to college to a fulltime job with zero time in between. They do nothing but play video games in their time off. They've never experienced any interruption to the life laid out before them from the moment they were born, and they're just big children.

Graduate highschool with an acceptance letter to University X. Get your dorm room, go to orientation, pick your major, schedule out your classes, do your 4 years, accept job offer from Corporation X, start there immediately after graduation. They pay relocation costs and find you a decent bachelor unit just off campus. You get your big flatscreen, your computer, all of the games you could ever want. Marvel movies, Game of Thrones. Three weeks vacation to go visit your parents in Aculpulco, and one to spend with your increasingly obese wife you met in college.

Now that Disney took over, we can't help but be critical about what is happening in the franchises that defined our childhood; because Disney isn't staying true to what made those franchises popular in the first place.

I don't know man. I didn't follow the highschool->college->job pipeline. Then again, I didn't get to buy a house until I was 35. And I'm basically 10 years behind all those who did. But at least I had 10 years of fighting for everything I could get my hands on. I spent a good chunk of it in poverty and getting drunk too, but that stuff is only 'character building' if you're not so fucked up that you can't recover.

A New Hope and Empire Strikes Back are the only good movies in the entire franchise, and if it wasn't for the extended lore material from novels and video games (all of which Disney threw in the trash for these new objectively terrible films) I probably wouldn't have liked it as much as I did growing up. Super Hero movies have always been bad, though, with the rare exception like Blade and Dredd that literally do not take themselves seriously at all and are made more like traditional action titles of their era.
