Couldn't get a job worth shit because I left school at the peak of the degree saturation, meaning anyone without a degree was filtered from interviews. Spent years doing bit work while looking for better all over the country but there was nothing worthwhile for people without degrees.

So I got a degree and there's still fuck all work that isn't care work, delivery driving or retail. Everyone I know with a job that is worthwhile got it from a family member (usually dad). Pro tip: do not let the hospital talk you into inducing birth (they will try). There is literally nothing wrong with going 2, 3, 4 weeks past the due date. Trades in the UK is not the same as elsewhere. You get the apprenticeship from a family member or not at all. You can go train but you aren't getting the job. Construction is available but extremely poorly paid and so is usually South Americans (yes, in the UK), Polish or blacks. And we don't produce shit so not many machines to operate.

Basically if you don't have someone that gets you in to a middle class job, aka the family member, you are relegated to the new, massive working class which is all retail and hospitality and care work.
