Roshi was a martial arts master, but didn't conduct himself appropriately.
Precept 10 - Do let yourself be guided by feelings of lust or love.
Precept 2 - Do not seek pleasure for it's own sake.
My mistake;
Precept 10 - Do not let yourself be guided by feelings of lust or love.
Embodying the spirit of Bushido and finding the way doesn't have to be done through martial combat. First read the five rings by Musashi. Then realize that finding the way to living the spirit of bushido comes from constant training and competence of a sport or skill. When you train so well that nobody can defeat you, then you have found the way. But the only method to finding the way lays in the lessons you learn from practice and pain. As you practice you self critique yourself and constantly improve in a battle to win over previous you. If you do this long enough, then you have embodied the spirit of Bushido and the warrior

Be a literal monk
You must serve others. Serve yourself through training, study, and reflection to be better suited to serve others. That's where meaning is found.
Say what you mean, and mean what you say. Be precise in speech and sincrere. Better to be slightly intimidating and respected than to be seen as a harmless, chuckling small-talker with pre-arranged speech code.
Not a hair's breadth between what you say and what is done. Flakiness and unreliability is unacceptable. The people in your life should know that your word is golden; if you say you're going to do something, then the task is already completed in the realm of the future. That is the cohesion and trust that's required.
Be considerate of others in your moving physical environment, but within reason, don't move aside for anyone except the elderly. Walk tall, keep alert in posture and have a strong brow.
Be mindful of every action and follow your own truth; orient your truth with rectitude and honesty so you can be totally, unapologetically accountable in word and action.
A man cannot be an island, though. Don't harden your heart and alienate those who care about you for the sake of trying to live out feudal-era discipline. I'm very serious about that. You are meant to serve not just in duty, but in love and friendship.
Practice "bun bu ryu do", both the scholarly and martial, and engage in music or art.
Of course, "the way is in training". You have to practice every day, no excuses. Practice your martial skill daily and then meditate on its use, so when a moment comes when it's use is required, there is no deliberation, only right intent and right action.
Source: I watched The Last Samurai once on a flight, the sound wasn't working but I think I got the idea.
There's a reason why don quixote is a loved book even 400 years after it was published. You can live however you want, ignore the ridicule, and accomplish your fantasy, this will also show people that there is no wrong way to live and it will inspire others.

What if I don't talk much to begin with, but when I do I'm mostly ignored?
What do you mean 'ignored'
Who are you talking to face to face that is walking away mid sentence
>I like gardening.
then wtf are you doing here. Get out there and work your patch.
Well moreso in a group setting.
Face to face I have their attention until someone else comes up and I get talked over.
I've been assuming my voice and cadence are just boring.
watch more anime
Not too many traditional samurai in anime. Maybe Goemon in Lupin III. I'm going to read Vagabond soon.
