What would you guys label a manchild? I really like watching movies, wrestling, and playing video games. But this whole basedboy stuff kinda made me insecure about my interests
What would you guys label a manchild? I really like watching movies, wrestling, and playing video games...
Stop giving a shit. The people who bring this shit up look like this.
Either that or they are just assholes.
Basically, visibly expressed insecurities make you seem like a manchild.
theres no such thing as a manchild. just like the things that you like. being a man is being confident in who you are, no matter who that person is.
the only people that bring up manchildren and basedboys are as a previous user said, fat losers who's idea of masculinity came from other losers talking about chads
>cares about how others perceive him
>wastes life away consuming media
Sounds like a manchild!
God why does the strawberry soilent taste like chocolate? I fucking hate chocolate. I wish they had the shit unflavored.
Why not just make your own? The shit looks like an overpriced protein shake.
dunno
Thanks
What's this supposed to mean user?
What would you have me do then? I mean I don't take it to seriously, also i have other interests but i just named the ones people might be considered manchild-ish
Never tried it
IMO a manchild is someone who is too financially dependent on their parents at an inappropriate age (too old), but others use it to insult guys who have interests that aren't fucking random chicks and drinking beer. Ignore them and just enjoy the things that make you happy, as long as you've got everything put together well.
>What would you have me do then?
Anything where you actually do something instead of consuming what others do, would do. In the end it's your fucking life and if you don't mind it and really enjoy it the way it is now, who the fuck am I to tell you what to do.
>wastes life away consuming media
>spending time on a Cambodian stock market forum
oh, the irony.
Stop giving a shit about people's opinions about what should and shouldn't be proper hobbies.
Are you a social cuck?
A meth addict telling you meth isn't great doesn't change the validity of the statement just because he's on meth.
- identity defined by media and brands he consumes rather than career, interpersonal, creative, or intellectual pursuits
- can't take responsibility for his actions
- doesn't plan for the future
- blames others for his own inadequacy
- can't handle criticism
- believes the world revolves around him
- fragile ego
- entitled
- constantly relies on others but preaches self-reliance
- never reciprocates
- always has an excuse
- no initiative/waits for opportunities to come to him rather than seek them out
- poor grooming and eating habits/lives a mostly sedentary lifestyle
- emotional cripple/hides insecurity behind a thin veneer of cynical, edgy contrarianism/ sincerity = vulnerability (accountability)
- can only make emotional arguments that require astounding feats mental gymnastics/wallows in willful ignorance but talks like he's an expert on everything/ can't admit being wrong or not knowing something
>- constantly relies on others but preaches self-reliance
Way to trigger Rand-fags.
Onions is legit amazing. I just bought my first case. I would have never heard of it or bought it if it wasn't for the memes. I guess you guys are shills or something. good work
*$oy1ent is amazing
fuck u mods
The definition of a man is a person that doesn't question whether he is a man. A man knows that what others think of him does not define whether he is a man. Knowing this does not make you a man, but living it, does.
there's literally nothing wrong with consuming media if it's something you enjoy. 'productivity' is literally a corporate cult that seeped into the wider culture.
our lives are meant to be enjoyed. there is no sense in spending free time in a pursuit you do not yourself enjoy just for the sake of being productive or needlessly 'bettering' yourself, whatever that means.
just do what you want, live naturally and go with the flow.
yeah it's alright.
So basically i stop caring what others think im pretty sure only one of(but idk i haven't talked to to many people in a while) suits me. I don't really let brands or what ever consume me they really just are my interests, it's just what entertains me. Thanks for the advice tho I gotta go
Different user here than the one you replied to,
I agree with there not being anything wrong with enjoying media. But you should probably familiarize yourself with Aristotle on the grounds of self improvement.
Aristotle would argue that, by simply enjoying media that you like you are in fact improving upon yourself. If you're a dude that sits around playing video games all day, one could argue that you may become better at them or that your taste in games may become more sophisticated or refined. You may pick up social queues or good habits from playing certain types of games. A life spent doing things you enjoy is never wasted.
"A life unobserved is unlived." -Plato
"A life unplanned isn't worth observing." -Aristotle
Based.
>'productivity' is literally a corporate cult that seeped into the wider culture.
No one suggested user to spend the time setting up his own business or focusing on being a better employee.
>our lives are meant to be enjoyed
Abso-fucking-lutely.
>there is no sense in spending free time in a pursuit you do not yourself enjoy just for the sake of being productive or needlessly 'bettering' yourself,
True, but a lot of the shit to better yourself (so basically gaining and developing skills) will increase your enjoyment of life and even make consumption more fun. Plus productive pursuits (in the sense of producing something, whether it has value for others is irrelevant) provide enjoyment long term that consuming can't match. Doing something yourself will become far more enjoyable than watching others doing their thing. And it's not like you have to stop consuming either.
thanks for that user, I admittedly am not very familiar with Aristotle other than some of his cosmological arguments. I will check him out.
That's a good point and something I have always believed myself. A life spent doing things you enjoy is truly never wasted, indeed.
>Do you work/completing schooling to enter to workforce?
>Can you cook for yourself?
>Can you complete at least one form of home upkeep/repair?
>Are you physically active in some way?
>Are you involved in something greater than yourself?
If you didn’t answer yes to at least of 4 these questions you can confidently say you’re a man child. What’s nice is that you can change this at anytime. Your interests never have to change, but your contributions and ability to act as a head of household/your own livelihood do.
