I was grocery shopping with my girlfriend and during checkout, this pregnant woman in front of us didn't have the cash to pay for her groceries. So without even consulting me, my girlfriend butts in and says "Don't worry, my boyfriend will pay for you." My girlfriend just looks at me like this is expected of me. I flatly rejected and said I wouldn't. It was an embarrassing scene.
Afterwards, she was pissed at me. She said I'm an asshole and if I have no empathy at all, and that she was pregnant. I told her that I don't care if she was pregnant or whatever, I did not want to do that. And she said she thought I was "better than that".
