alright lads i'm a hikki NEET here getting a job and trying to enter society i need some advice

how the fuck do you get a credit score? Do you just open a bank account and pay utility bills? What if i don't have any bills to pay? Can I just pay my phone bill? How the fuck does this work

Not sure how/when it starts. Just start paying bills and make sure to pay them exactly on time no matter what. Then you'll know your credit score is good without having to check

what the fuck so nobody knows?

but what if i don't have any bills to pay? what if the lease agreement is in my gf's mom's name?

does a phone bill count?

People know, I just don't. Google it if you really need to know. But I do believe any type of bill counts towards it

:)

i'm fucking googling it but nobody's saying anything it's all about how to increase your credit score or how it's calculated not how to actually get a credit score to begin with

what does it even mean to "buy a score"? I can't afford this shit how did you get your credit score?

If I remember right, you get to look at your score for free once, maybe twice a year. More than that and you have to buy it. Also there's only like 2 website you should be getting it from, which I forget what they're called. Like I said though OP, literally just pay any bill that you have right now and in the future ON TIME and you'll be just fine. I just bought a house without EVER looking at my credit score, and I got a great interest rate after they ran my credit check

Literally just googled 'when does credit score start' and got this. Didn't read through it but I figure the answer is in there somewhere

so how the hell do you get a credit line? even the god damn thing that tells you how to do it says it doesn't know how to do it and the question isn't answered

you're saying you have to wait 6 months before you get a shitty 500 credit score even if you pay everything on time?

>how to get a credit score
come on user, i'm 19 and even i have a credit score. just open a bank account, get a credit card, and pay it on time. that fucking simple. within a year of doing that, you'll have a credit score.

HOW DO YOU GET A CREDIT CARD THOUGH? you mean get a secured credit card where you have to put down a deposit and the balance you have is equal to the deposit and somehow nobody knows how the hell you make it unsecured? doesn't that cost hundreds-thousands of dollars and shit and that money gets locked up for a year+?

how do you just "get a credit card"?

How does credit score is related to getting job? Credit is good when you want to rent flats and take loans. After that its almost pointless.

Pick bank for poor people (zero or very low fees, you dont want to pay 50$ per month just because they "protect" your money), go in with an id and say
>hi, i would like to open account here

that's exactly what i'm trying to do, rent a flat and take out loans

i know how to open a bank account that's extremely obvious i need to know how to get a credit card though which is not obvious since nobody apparently knows how to do it but somehow everyone has it

i don't know what the fuck you're talking about. but i'll lay it out to you how i did it.
>got job
>went to bank of america
>opened bank account
>applied for their lowest end credit card online
>approved
>paid deposit of $99 dollars
>use credit card wisely without missing any payment
>ff a year
>got deposit back
>credit limit increased from 500 to 2500
>credit score now sitting at ~750
>never had to pay "hundreds-thousands of dollars" to accomplish this
>matter of fact i gained ~$71 from cash back on the card
i don't get why this is so complicated for you

The bank will lotwrally send you a debit / credit card via post / messenger. Also stop being retarded, just get a job and bank account. You dont need to move out yet. Also plenty of options how to rent without credit bullshit. Stop overcomplicating everything.

what the fuck? so the qualifications for credit cards are a lie then? The internet is telling me you have to get a secured credit card and make a deposit and your credit line or credit balance is equal to your deposit, so if you deposit $500 you get $500 in credit, meaning in order for me to use a credit card for all my expenses (rent etc) to then pay them off in full on time i will have to deposit thousands of dollars to attain thousands of dollars in credit, but what you're telling me is completely the opposite, so do you understand why this is confusing and complicating?

but apparently the qualifications for low level credit cards of at least having a credit score are a complete lie, I had no idea you could get a credit card without even having a credit score

i hope you're not lying or this still works in 2019 / 2020
yeah a debit card but a credit card just automatically?

also you I have to move out, i will only have an absolute maximum of 2 months of my gf's mom paying for rent before i have to have all my shit together and take on the rent myself, which i have absolutely no fucking clue how i'm going to do that but i can only just hope i can get a ~$2.5k/mo take home job by lying my ass off

there is no reason it shouldn't work. i also have no reason to lie. check the site i linked below. i have the cash rewards card. it shows up as "Bank of America Cash Rewards Platinum Plus Mastercard" in the app. try looking for that when you apply for the card.

bankofamerica.com/credit-cards/

well ok then. But every corner of google and the internet tells me the only credit cards you can get are secured credit cards, and secured credit cards give you credit limits equivalent to your deposit

i can't find any info on whether or not the "Bank of America Cash Rewards Platinum Plus Mastercard" is secured or not, but if it isn't and this works then that's splendid

but in that case, what would be the easiest unsecured credit card to get with the highest credit limit?

Christ... You are overthinking it mate, a credit line is one of any:

1. Credit cards, you apply to get one is called a hard inquiry(too many and it'll hurt, but you are just starting so it's not bad of a hit)

2. A loan (car loan, buying a home loan, student loan)

3.corporate expenditure (if you own a business)

And idk what Is talking about, qualifiers for a card do not guarantee a high limit credit card, or anything really, all you need to know right now is that if you are to start building credit, start with something small.

Small like, netflix or hulu, or one utility, that you make sure you pay the card on time without exceeding 30% of the limit.

A $500 limit is more or less standard for people with no credit history.

It is highly unlikely you will be accepted for a high unsecure credit limit unless you have a high income, by that I mean at least upper 5 figure income

but is that $500 limit with an UNSECured or SECured credit car?d that's what i want to know because every damn place i look and see they're saying secured credit cards give you a money limit equivalent to that of your deposit, meaning if i wanted to attain a $500 limit i would have to deposit $500 etcetera do you understand what I mean?

also how tf am i supposed to pay for groceries for me and my gf with less than 30% of $500 lmao?
precisely my damn point, meaning the only option i have are secured credit cards, which give you a limit equivalent to your deposit, but these people: are saying (from my understanding) that I can just get an unsecured credit card with a $500 limit or a secured credit card with a $500 limit but only have to deposit $90 something

Attached: blyat.jpg (225x225, 5K)

>500$ limit
>500$ deposit
I get what you’re driving at they point being if push comes to shove and you can’t pay they’ll just cuck them money out of the checking to cover it

oh ok, so it's not actually an equal deposit to limit ratio?

To over simplify.

Apply to one card. DO NOT RELY ON A CREDIT CARD, LOAN, OR ANY BORROWED MONEY. Literally credit " " is just borrowed money. It can be used to save you from a tough spot one time, but not all the time.

Your credit limit is vaguely related to how much you earn, and what you have been spending it on, and most places will only offer you a credit card if you have a checkings account with them, for obvious reasons they will check how you manage your money.

Easiest thing to do right now is save money, get a card for one utility, pay everything else with your actual money and go from there. It ain't easy. But hey, this is were you learn to budget.

yeah duh no shit dude but if you're living paycheck to paycheck like 99% of every job in existence you need something (in this working-class reality, a credit card) to fill in the gaps until you get your paychecks so you can pay everything off and not starve to death with just a couple hundred bucks or a thousand or so to keep food on the table. Budgeting is a no-brainer, but you have to do something in-between paychecks to not die, and you can't just get another job, because that's just another paycheck. If I had a pristine new car i'd do uber or some shit but hey like lol

Idk. Assuming i get a ~2.5k/mo job I think i'll be able to save enough wages in the 2 months she's paying for rent for us to get on our feet to have enough for 1 months of living expenses

what do you do for a living anyways?
