There was a hell of a lot wrong with Britain before Tony Blair came to power, but his super-majority in Parliament gave him and his cronies the ability to vandalise our constitution that has never been seen before or since. This makes it very difficult to put things right, especially since the other party (the Tories) seem to worship at his feet. Everyone (understandably) focuses on his illegal war in Iraq but no-one seems to acknowledge the fact that his "modernisation" campaign at home ripped out everything that was unique about Britain in favour of turning us into a semi-skimmed European crypto-republic.
I almost voted for Harold Wilson or Ted Heath but in Harold's case most of his government's evil didn't stem from him directly and in Ted's he never really had much power except when he was obeying his Euro-overlords.
