An example would be how the left went from wanting cig companies to admit tobacco was bad, to wanting warning labels, to wanting higher taxes to wanting smoking banned entirely.

Is the right now oversocialized too? Is the rise in popularity of fascism on the right a part of that? Is the sudden fetishization of authoritarianism a part of that as well? Have we become so fixated on the collective that the individual & individuals do not matter?

I believe over socialization is the result of a lacking healthy means of collective engagement. The church used to fill this role. Religion was something everyone can be united by and working towards it's goals is what helped exercise this need for collective action. We are social animals after all.
