Totse was a forum similar to Jow Forums, though it was way older (we're talking 1980s old). Most people think totse shut down because the owner got tired of running it, but I think the government did it. The owner had literally bought new servers two weeks before its shut down. No way he "had lost interest in it" after he had made such an investment. The owner's true identity was never known, meaning he could've been arrested/killed and we wouldn't ever know about it. Yet another censoring done by our totally trustworthy, totally not authoritarian government.

Nice, blog it.

Totse (specifically the text files on Bad Ideas) was fucking gold. Chan culture and community discourse on Totse definitely have a lot in common. I miss it badly, &T was where I truly learned to love the ugly monster that is the internet (and how to make jenkem), it’s what lead me to this shithole in fact

>(we're talking 1980s old)
wut

Tell us more about this place, was it a forum or static page ?

>and how to make jenkem
Did you ever try it? I always thought it was just a meme

1980's BBS? Archive says from 1998

Isn't it just a BBS

It started as a BBS dial up service in the 80s.

Still online, faggot.
totseans.com/totse/en/_copyright/copyright_policy.html

It started as that but then expanded into a forum as well. Just like with Jow Forums, the owners promoted freedom of speech. People posted the most shocking stuff they could find. Most of what you would find were tutorials for how to make a makeshift bomb at your house, tutorials for how to get high without drugs, and plans to overthrow the government.

Also nice ID Fattie

that's just an archive. you can't actually post there.

Whatever. Find better hobbies.

Shit yeah, Totse. That was my digital homeland. I also found out about Jow Forums through there, but I delayed making the transition because this place just seemed like an inferior copy, full of upstart faggots that were biting our style. Ooh, /b/tards are trolling Bill Keller? We'd done it four years before. I didn't make the switch until Totse actually shut down.

I have to imagine quite a lot of us wound up here amongst the anons.

Kek. Used to post there. Friend of mine got himself v& right out of the middle of class for posting some shit. Good times.

web.archive.org/web/20120630121103/http://www.zoklet.net/

I remember this place. I used to post her using the username The Mad Bomber.

Like the Cookbooks and Phone Phreaking and mailing bricks to unwanted soliciters.
I printed hundreds of pages off BBs's at school. i had access to a full computer lab and a shitload of alises. Sadly all were lost. Some really stellar ascii porn was out there too.

Did it have a pol presence?

What did your friend do user?

I remember Totse.

RIP

kek

sort of. It had a lot of conspiracy theories against the government. It also had bomb tutorials and was involved in some hackings.

I miss that place.

Somewhat related (I think) does anyone have any experience with the vespiary?

War never changes.

Did he succeed? I have to know

Do so few of us truly remain that this thread is dead already?

Most are likely playing possum.
I dont give a fuck.

Hello totse bros. I loved Bad Ideas and BLTC. There was a spinoff right after it died called Zoklet that was ok for a while but no totse. Something shady definitely happened during the shutdown I bet.

they all died after trying to get high off Raid

Posted some anti-government stuff. He was and still is a huge lefty but we're still friends.

Gold Krylon is the decerning gentelmans choice

Attached: tribettmug1.jpg (600x701, 46K)

i remember that website.

The government totally nuked it.
All the mirrors are shadows of what they were.
It was a place where you could find everything from atm firmware code, military leaks, credit card fraud schemes, and dirty bombs blue prints.
I remember seeing reports of man in the middle intercepts of US internet traffic from outside Bethesda and the middle of no where Nevada in the late 90s.
Also the Vehicle Mounted Anti Personal Device, now known as the Active Denial System, aka the microwave tank in 98. This was nearly 2 decades before they publicly announced having it.

Funny thing, this was the picture I saw in 98. When the government announced it and Fox news did a little segment on it someone made a wikipedia entry and uploaded this photo. The photo from Totse in 1998, as a node that we already knew. The photo has since been removed from the article.

Wow. I think I stumbled across this as a child trying to perfect my science experiments.

Stephen Jackson and Robert Antwon Wilson Or Robert Shey got tangled up in some of that when they got a batch of hard drives that hadent been scrubbed. IIRC

Attached: Bob.png (500x500, 84K)

I remember reading an article on dirty bombs, it was just two subcritical hemispheres isolated by distance. That was from totse?

>38yr old boomer
back in my day...
there was an iq barrier to entry

Every day I have to recycle hard drives customers bring in to the retail store I work at. Sometimes I wonder what's on them. That and USBs. Not that I'd ever break company policy and snoop (also there's security cameras lol) but I sometimes wonder the secrets that lie on them.

it was a honeypot. but a glorious one. these were the days before 9/11 when making bombs was viewed as a hillarious and outlandish prank

>only 15 years ago people used to upload homemade bomb videos to youtube as a joke
>2019
>lose your job if you use the word "fag"

there was retarded insteuctions on how to build a nuke in your shed.

>dissolve uranium in hexaflouride in bucket
>attach bucket to 6 foot long rope
>stand on a ladder and swing the bucket round your head as fast as you can for 12 hours to seperate the isotopes

totse was cool

/dir.exe

I was Danzig on there.

Very cool

Attached: 1558692453071.jpg (455x607, 100K)

totse was for retard unable to use IRC

The story is they were DoD hard drives, and those guys dont like losing shit.

Attached: dischord.jpg (500x305, 35K)

ha - those bucket instructions still make me smile

Ah, the memories of the old days. To be fourteen and nearly blow off your hand because you followed some incel 30something's pipe bomb recipe.

Jeff Hunter was like a mythical god on that site too. A real Garcia of the ol BBS days.

It was the mammoth shake and bake thread that finally killed totse.

Oh my fucking god! The fucking highlighter incident! That one was gold. Had me laughing until 4am

1980's gay shit
totseans.com/totse/en/erotica/gay/youngman.html

Unless you were there, youve no idea how much the internet changed post 9/11, even though we knew at the time what was glowing and what wasnt, nobody gave a shit and just talked openly about everything.
I remember posting on a music board back in the day that had a rape section, full of men posting rape fantasy stories, where it was encouraged to.make them sound as real as possible to the point they were uncomfortable and nobody could tell if real events were being described, everytime there was an irl missing persons case or public attack the board would blow up with fan fiction. And it all seemed totally normal, just part of the site.
Want talk about the nuances of derailing trains? Want to make poisons to kill your neighbours? come on in and have a chat.

who was that dutch faggot that became a mod eventually

always on B&M

that highlighter thing was stupid, the Jenkem gag was about ten times more funnier and made national news.

totse was relatively radical because people openly discussed criminal activity, making drugs, etc. it had fixed information alongside the community. Jow Forums is sort of like totse in a sense that its a radical fringe expression in free speech, topics are somewhat different, totse was not so much about politics, it was really lots of shitposting. Jow Forums does not have immediate access to information on making bombs and committing crime, and that lasted for quite a bit, roughly until the end of the Bush presidency in 2008, well past 9/11, probably was a honey pot

Yeah. Totse and to some extent Zoklet, had the entire Anarchist's Cookbook for fuck sakes.

Fond memories of staying up late and using Telemate to download zip files with zmodem. That BBS was awesome.

Attached: freespeech_meg.jpg (1190x1234, 179K)

&t was one of the original honeypots

Linked directly back to Darpa.gov too

what the fuck kind of response was that

No "fuck niggers and jews", was more "Here is what the endless surveillance state will look like in 10 years and how isolated you're going to feel inside it"

And fuck me if it wasn't spot on !

My first website was just a big collection of 20 second blooper avis it took ages to download, and ripped off totse material about drug manufacturing, racist jokes, and all kinds of bad ideas. My teachers praised me for it, lmao.

I'm actually surprised to see a topic on totse come on on here. Kinda surprising to think this was actually one of my very first steps on the path to being redpilled, and remember how disappointed I was when it got shut down. I still have a handwritten copy of a gun-cotton recipe from there, probably one of the few people my age who ever found it.
RIP Temple

I used to be in the Air Force. We had all kinds of old hard drives lying around everywhere, even ones from classified networks. Like, boxes and boxes of them. It was that way with all sorts of computer equipment, and was especially bad on the bases where there was high turnover (like Osan) because things would never be handed off properly and would just get forgotten.

I knew people that would just take those boxes of drives and nobody ever noticed that they were missing.

I hate what the internet has become. This place is one of the last few bastions of the old internet, and even it is targeted by shills and glowniggers 24/7. With everything going on recently I've removed myself completely from all social media and retreated to the chans. If we lost these I don't even know where I'd go or what I'd do anymore.

Totse = GOATSE

I remember that site. Bad ideas was the best.

>SWIM is thinking about...

Checked because I'd like to bump the thread anyways.
agree 100% and I can't even remember how I first heard of totse, I was that young when I first discovered it. The internet has lost all form of discovery and wildness it had

Can’t believe I’m seeing a Totse post on Jow Forums. Some of the best times online and really encompassed what the internet was like before women and minorities took over.

Recently found a bad ideas text archive and was casually reading a post on how to make a nuclear bomb, kek

Yeah, I miss the old "wild west" internet before everything became centralized normie shit. It was fun just to just use multiple search engines and go find all kinds of websites made just by random people by their own 2 hands with some shitty html.

Now everything goes through a pre-existing web building service, and inevitably links back to shitbook and twitter

fuck, temple of the screaming election introduced me to dolphin porn. probably was the government. i can see that.

>Totse
i read somewhere that mastodon's ''tweets'' are called toots because some investor requested it

It really felt like a new frontier. You never knew what you might see or what sites might be out there. I remember spending hours just searching around, stumbling over cheese pizza or gore or something interesting. I remember when I stopped buying Cds or going to the cinema. It seemed so endless and full of promise. You could do or say anything. Now the internet feels very tiny and not safe. I feel like I have to censor myself so much in some places it's hard to even talk anymore. I have thousands of memes and webms and such, but I know aside from here I probably can't post them anywhere else without getting instantly banned.

Nah it wasn’t 9/11 it was Smartphones. All of a sudden BILLIONS of shitskins and women had access to these sites in the palm of their hands. When I used to post on Totse I’d have to sit on my family pc, turn it on, scramble to Firefox, type the entire url in, and surf the web like this all while my parents continually paid internet bills.

Boomer shit

Most of those oldschool websites simply retreated to the deep web. Some of them were shut down though, yeah.

Fuck yeah that place was amazing, especially Bad Ideas. The Nightops threads were fun. I used to ride around on my bike in the dead of night anyway but knowing others did a similar thing was a special feeling. Anyone remember those threads with ideas on how to sabotage the 2006 series of Big Brother? Couldn't stop laughing at that one guys idea to get into the garden area with a fucking hand glider

>80's
There was no internet in the fucking 80's you retarded faggot

Ahh shit I loved &T. Lots of those text files were full of shit that would get you killed. Life went on at Zoklet for a while but it wasn't the same.

&T forever
Zoklet too

Miss you bros

Are you seriously that fucking stupid?

>I hate what the internet has become.
>Yeah, I miss the old "wild west" internet before everything became centralized normie shit
I think about these two things constantly. Remember back when true nerds ran internet culture and gaming with iron fists? Back when booth babes existed to placate horny young men.

Oh man those were the days, I would do anything to bring them back for all of us

Fuck I'm so nostalgic rn. Post your handles I was reggie_love

It had static text files and a gigantic very active forum

Whos garcia?

Don't forget the phone losers of America...

I can't handle how old this thread is making me feel

American education strikes again! Aaaaand it's a homerun straight into the 56% IQ territory.

>(You) is looking happy and excited, out of breath as he examines his homerun. Flapping his belly flops as he slowly walks around making gurgled potato noises and shits his pants.
>"(You) has really been shaping up this season for hitting that homerun, Doe. Man we have never seen a potato hit a homerun that fantastic before".
>"You are right John, we never have. (You) was truly the MVP this match. Most certainly a fantastic display of prowess and skill.
>They will be celebrating with his favorite food, tons of carbs very soon in his team.
>Back to you Jow Forums. This has been John and Doe, at the 2019 American BaseTard Idiot League! See you soon as we examine and comment on The Somalian Stone Eating contest!

my favourites were the Night Ops threads. Those threads got huge..

There was a wave of OG totseans who died of opioid ODs before it was a known crisis. Sad shit some of them were truly smart guys.

ARPA net might like to disagree

Google says RSS was first used in 1995 privately.

Historylet. Websites like this were just tiny babytier eddies of the ocean that was usenet. You wanted dark information, that was the true matrix. That and, even better, local BBSes, which were even more impenetrable and esoteric. The world wide web is the watered down version of everything the internet used to be.
