Catholicism -
pillar of Western Christendom

The Germanic tribes were significant in its cultural development..ie the Franks, Anglo saxons, goths

Way better aesthetics on a traditional level..if your a Western European

Better liturgy

Ever indo European society believed in a concept similar to purgatory

The Norse, Franks, Anglo saxons, gauls, west Slavs we’re all Christianized under the guiding hand of Latin Christianity

In its traditional form liturgy in Latin

Orthodox Church -Greek and Slavic history

Not connected to western culture in any sense

Aesthetically feels very Arab

Thanks bud .. Atleast someone well versed in European church history.

On another note we need to take back the Sarum rite .. it’s ours

Indeed, with prayer and God's providence we need to take back the Church as a whole and return to all the traditions that made it great in the first place.

Western Europe at one point was Catholic “believe it or not”

Eastern spirituality would have been alien to our ancestors versed in the Latin rite..

There’s a common misconception that everything was “orthodox” pre schism which is laughable, since the Diocletian split of the west and east Roman Empire .. liturgically and theologically the west differed from the east .. while I respect the strict monasticism of the east .. the west experimented with ascetic practices, influenced by the Irish monks ..

>There’s a common misconception that everything was “orthodox” pre schism
I've seen that claim thrown by the Orthodox before. It's an attempt to rewrite history and make the past seem like it's been modern Orthodoxy all along. I remember a Catholic user making the case that the Orthodox Icons are a later invention that has nothing to do with art in old Church. Pic-related is one of the, if not oldest depictions of Christ and it's realistic, naturalistic, and not at all like later Orthodox Icons
