It took FDR nearly two terms to get anything set right, and that's exclusively because wartime economy inherently provides extra employment. It's not much more than coincidence that the plan was able to work.

It makes no sense militarily to open another front after just starting a war with the US. Those men would be needed to defend islands, defend Chinese territories, and to invade Australia. Krushchev said in his memoirs that the Japanese war with America allowed the Soviets to take their troops from the far east to fight the Germans. He also said with US involvement militarily and through lend lease the Soviets wouldn't have been able to fight back or arm themselves.

FDR's economic policies sucked massive balls and did absolutely nothing except maybe ward against an overt socialist revolution. He was a good war time leader because he knew how to delegate.

That's what they needed to do. Most of FDR's economic policies restored a certain amount of trust in capitalism. GDP returned to 1929 levels by 1935 and we were out of it by 1939.
