waterfox essentially is firefox ESR with updated security patches and an ugly logo. it should do the work for most people, but if you want to go full anti-botnet you should use one of these custom user profiles that disable the botnet. I'm using it on my laptop right now because it supports some legacy add-ons I like.

that depends on you. ug-chromium is chromium/chrome minus google's botnet. it removed google's shit to the point of not being able to download add-ons from their store (you'll have to install them manually).
Icecat is basically the same but with mozilla's shit. it's easier to install add-ons on it, but the instalator is only released for linux because the devs don't want to use the non-free compilers needed for the windows and mac version.
Another alternative is picking Firefox/Waterfox and manually disabling the botnet, either by tweaking it yourself or by downloading a preexisting user config.
Using leeser known browsers like palemoon, midori, qtbrowser or falkon is another option.
