The US dollar only has any value due to being the exchange currency for most oil sales around the globe, as well as the reserve backup currency for many nations.
Every nation that has tried to free itself from the dollar, specifically oil rich ones, have been targeted by the US military.

Ron Paul is literally a brainlet as is anyone who believes that the USD would never be used worldwide if oil transactions weren't settled in it. First, calculate the volume of oil contracts in USD vs. the volume of global trade settled in USD, it's like, 1%. Second, what currency have people been waiting to jump to instead? Euros? The entire root of this theory is libertarianism and the idea that money has to be "backed" by a commodity, which is typical libertarian stupidity really. The wars against Middle Eastern countries were wars for Israel, not oil. Also note that the US is so desperate for its currency to be used to buy oil that it literally makes it illegal for countries it doesn't like to buy oil in US dollars.

The dollar is the world's reserve currency by process of elimination.
Nobody else is willing to take the role, much less able.
If the global trade wasn't dictated by the Kosher Nostra, countries would develop more direct and decentralized ways to trade between each other without the forced use of (((dollars))). USA would probably collapse too.

Not entirely, there were multiple reasons, that being one.
Saddam dropping the dollar was a big part, as was the plan for an Arab League of sorts. Gadaffi was doing the same, using his money to create a new currency for a type of Arab union. Saddam being taken out was part of preventing that from happening.
Saudis would not have liked that at all.
Israel was one part of it but not the only part of it.
So the petrodollar is absolutely a reason for these wars as much as any.
