There are a lot of reasons that socialism (the literal basis of communism) can not work but I'll start you off with a fundamental that if you bother to research and understand, will inform you as to why socialism can't work.

Many of us aren't aware of the principle of EC and don't yet understand why this is a critical aspect to understand before attempting to apply any kind of arbitrary price controls.

EC is why socialism fails and when it does fail the socialist attempts an corrective action which further destabilizes and interferes with natural forces.

Prosperity is only built through voluntary action, it can not be forced or cajoled indefinitely. People can see short term successes but not understand the long term consequences of the destabilization.

Disrupting and interfering with EC is how you build a country like Venezuela. It takes decades but eventually you get there. And in the process you consume and destroy all of your resources and paint yourself into a corner.

There's more to socialism, in the national socialism of Germany between 33 and 45 for example, there was a slight control as to get rid of usury, but the rest was actually a free market. On a national base, socialism is actually quite manageable as long as the voluntary action you wrote about is common, which is exactly the reason why it can only survive with a strong patriotic consent in the general population.
