I don't high frequency trade. I'm not into finances and analysis and all that shit, I'm a tech nerd. I look for projects I think have really good use cases, buy them, and hold them long term. I believe blockchain technology in general will see widespread adoption in information technology in countless forms, but I am not unrealistic or impatient. It will take 15-20 years, just like the internet or other foundational IT technology does to proliferate.

All of my holdings are over a year old, and based on my income I would have to pay the long term capital gains tax at 15% on cash outs. It would be $66k if I cashed out everything. $374,000 net profit on a $10k investment in less than 5 years is insane.

I already own 2 rental properties (inherited) and have a solid career in cybersecurity. My crypto is just kind of a fun thing that I have on the side of my stocks and regular retirement stuff. I treat crypto like a high risk retirement gamble, not a get rich quick scheme or launchpad for other investments.

To me it looks like gambling, lots of people have lost huge sums of money playing the crypto game.

You're making a lot of assumptions and I challenge you to find anyone in traditional finance who will tell you $374,000 on a 10k investment in 5 years isn't absolutely astronomical.

I don't spend countless hours on it. I don't do a fuckton of research. I put $10k spread across a few projects I really saw potential in and it paid off. $10k isn't really that much to me, and I wouldn't recommend anyone buy crypto with funds they can't handle evaporating completely. It's extremely high risk, and I'm not retarded. I just wish I had put $50k in instead of $10k, but hindsight is 20/20 and at the time, putting in $50k would have been irrational gambling.

Look at coin market cap and then go back to like December or January of 2018 when everything was rock bottom. Now look at the rise we had. Literally could've bought any of the top 100 coins and would've made out. Buy low sell high.

I like reading with e ink because it's easier on my eyes. PDF books don't always work well with the one I have but other formats work great. Other than that I'll either use my tablet or a laptop and play with the color and brightness settings to minimize eye strain. There are some blue light filter programs/apps that make it easier to read on a regular screen.

Ok, so a few things here. Realize that cryptocurrency adoption for actual transactions won't occur bottom-up, it will occur top-down. Meaning, consumers aren't just going to start demanding that vendors accept cryptocurrencies. It's going to see adoption first by financial institutions that want to save money on overhead/administration/fraud prevention. The financial institutions will incentivize businesses to use cryptocurrencies (because it makes the bank more money). The businesses will get a profit incentive to pass to the consumers, who will then adopt gradually as trust increases.

I targeted coins that focused on banking transactions and distributed application platforms that will be foundational for blockchain application development for the foreseeable future. So I bought stuff Jow Forums told me not to, essentially. Ripple, Ethereum, Chainlink, Stellar, Cardano etc.

The best technique is patience. Crypto markets have extreme bull/bear cycles. Wait until the next big crash, then buy. Never buy any fucking cryptocurrency when its being talked about in mainstream media, you're too late.

yeah, my point is that for a lot of those, the crypto game is stressing and time consuming.

I didn't inherit anything until I had already established a pretty successful career. I didn't go to college. I busted my ass in food service jobs in my 20s while I studied. I developed a strong skill set and started putting in work on open source projects, which landed me a starting offer doing application security, which I have continued to develop. I now have an absolutely kick ass job and am well compensated. This was all accomplished before I came into property ownership. Nothing was handed to me except the fact that my parents genuinely cared for me when I was a kid and taught me the value of hard work. Something which I think is the primary cause of most people's poverty. It's not that they aren't capable, they just don't put the work in to actually improve themselves, they get complacent, or they fuck everything up by having kids before they can support them.
