If you could see what I see every day you wouldn't doubt it anymore. It's been so terribly wet and hot this year that half the fields are setting empty here in my small part of the world. The problem is that next years seed crop also didn't get planted, we are in the end of July and most people have only gotten one cutting of hay, and no straw yet anywhere. Feed and hay prices are going to go up, which means that people will get rid of livestock causing food prices to dip and then explode. Last time we had a big cattle die off it took 3-4 years to recover and stabilize as more and more market animals became breeding stock. I highly doubt we will go full blown famine within my lifetime, but I suspect that we will be eating less meat in ghe near future.

You put the dehumidifier in another room that you aren't cooling, the humidity actually cools you. Fan blowing on a wet sheet causes evaporation and cools the room you are in surprisingly well. Don't knock it till youve tried it, it is amazing.

They used to do similarly back before electricity, but obviously without the fan/dehumidifier. Open a window and hang a sheet.
