US Navy admiral blasts “Slavic naval incompetence”

NATO’s Eastern European member states have terrible navies that suffer from “legacy concepts” and equipment and can’t do much against Russia, a prominent US naval admiral lamented, asking the US Navy to do something about it.

Though the Adriatic Sea is a “NATO lake” and the alliance’s expansion in the Baltics and the Black Sea has brought it to Russia’s doorstep, the navies acquired along the way are pretty much useless, argued Thomas-Durell Young, a retired US admiral and lecturer at the Naval Postgraduate School in Monterey, California.

Young’s article, titled ‘NATO’s selective naval blindness’ and published in the most recent issue of the Naval War College Review, makes the case that the situation is “both serious and desperate,” and that the navies of Poland, Latvia, Lithuania, Estonia, Romania, Bulgaria, Croatia, Slovenia, Albania and Montenegro all suffer from not just old ships but “legacy Soviet style concepts” when it comes to sea power.

This is like scolding a parrot for using improper inflection while pronouncing an English word. It's trying it's best and it's a miracle that it can even speak.

based (and redpilled)

>slavs cant compete with... slavs
>slavs bad!
leave it to the mutt to come up with that premise for an essay

These Slavic nations promised to man up and put the Russian bear in its place. And now incompetent, drunken Slavic captains steer 1970s ships on beaches and into US carrier groups.

and they were surprised how shit allies they are? kek

Hey we are the real score here eh? No problems at all. Sea power supreme!

>Literally dealing with the same problems the USSR had
You should hear the stories of Warsaw pact training fuck ups in Romania and Bulgaria

I've honestly never understood all the "based slavs" memery that goes on here. It's pretty obvious from everything you read about them, that they're China tier at best (probably from all the mongoloid rape genes). They've never been on par with any white country, and they never will be. Hitler considered them subhumans, and that's good enough for me.

It’s still above sea level, lads. It has not sunk, lads. Nothing to see, lads.

Out of these its only okay to critque pond and romania everyone else is too small to even have an okay navy

What's the point of fighting Russia at sea when you have land border with them?

>End of Balkangelion

You're so retarded that it's truly mindboggling.

eastern europe wasn't exactly known for it's seafaring traditions, eastern europe is locked from oceans. Only Croatia has some resemblance of naval tradition(thanks Venice), but our navy has been ignored for last 100 years(thanks Serbia), and we lack funding for building up navy. Croatia should have navy like Austrian Empire had, but it's quite hard for us to achieve that. Gib more fundings and we'll build our ships, we are too poor to afford anything bigger than corvette or midget submarine

Yeah just like recent mutt adventures in Romania where your mutt division attack whole another corn field next to vilage 150km from target because you couldnt orient on map.

OR that one time when whole of your forces got stuck in Poland because tanks on train carts were too high for bridges ?
Or when german army soldiers invaded local supermarket in Finland because noone told them or gave them warm underwear clothes and the exercise was in winter conditions ?

Sounds like the US should make some Diesel-electric subs and mass produce the Burkes even more and give them to nations that have a desire for a navy but not the funding for one.

Resource movement

When you steal the coast of like 3 countries and don't need to evolve your naval traditions because with the theft of access to sea you inevitably eliminated any seafaring competition you would have... yea i would not wonder why your seafaring abilities are not considered top notch.

>suffer from not just old ships but “legacy Soviet style concepts”

read this as "ships lack smart technology that would ease tracking and control by US CENTCOM"

This has nothing to do with how good or bad, modern or old the ships are. It has to do with compatibility of systems and how the US wants to use them.

And once more we play our dangerous game

YUGO navy was compleatly decent croach stop spewing bullshit.
Only when Tito died and serbs couldnt trust you because of your 1974 federalisation aspirements we stoped any funding because (as it became true) your little traitor asses would leave us with everything we together built, actually americans/italians would take much of the navy because they wouldnt leave to ex traitors anything.
You had 25 yrs of independance and not onky did you scrap into old metal ships you had, but you also didnt buy/build shit.
Your shipyards now are dead because of your croaches policies, not serbs or Serbia.
Fucking croaches.

Just look at what they did to Yugo leftover shipyards and ships.
Abysmal.

Okay so let me put it like this. We need giant navies, that is giant cash sinks in the baltic sea for securing resource movement against an enemy that has maybe has fuel reserve for 4 weeks, rather than dumping the money into the army and preventing them from winning the only kind of victory they can get - quick overrun of few countries and offering peace.

we can build our own ships thank you very much
>Your shipyards now are dead
they aren't

yugo ships are in montenegro you fucking nigger, you left us nothing

Baltic irrelevant marshes and Balkan irrelevant countries that are still recovering from half a century comunism are alies that USA navy wants to command over and prepare for possible conflict.
Who knew that those delusions run that deep.
Maybe NATO should leave to its members like Montenegro and Albania task of plan preparation. Kek

Albania doesn't even have a navy

>can’t do much against Russia
I disagree there. Even a couple of bums on a tugboat are a threat to Russian "navy".

Attached: 3.jpg (1024x768, 111K)

King Alexanders ship that he payed for is in MNE. Rest of navy was up to you,SLO and MNE to split evenly among yourselfs but apparently you were and still are incompetent.
Its not like it would mean something since all 3 of you ran your navys into ground.
Monteniggers sold everything already, onlything left are small yugo boats that pick up cocaine from Analbania.

Is that why you still can't pass through the Kerch strait lol

This

I know it was sarcasam.
Monteniggers will mount land invasion and Analbania will strike from sea Russia, everything will work perfectly as NATO planed. Kek

I don't think it would require a giant navy, simply an updated naval warfare doctrine and a few modernized ships.

only yugo ship we got is one Končar class missile ship that we stole from shipyard. Rest is in Montenegro, they sold almost all to scrap

Holy shit what a rust bucket. That thing is not long to stay afloat.

Says Ukrainian that got rekt, expelled from Crimean navy ports and latest adventure towards Azov sea ended up in 3 ships lost.
Your next plan is attack with tugboats right ?

>argued Thomas-Durell Young
that's like... your opinion, dude

>A country surrounded by two oceans shits on countries hundreds of miles from the closest ocean
would you like fuck off? we're doing our best

Attached: RULE.png (592x84, 3K)

When Cortez arrived in the new world, he burned his ships. As a result, his men were well motivated.

It doesnt matter now realy, be it MNE or CRO those ships would have got scrapped anyways through shear incompetence, no difference.
You cant even buy 2 planes , navy is abstract concept for you.

>you can't pass through the Kerch
The incident that saw the great battle between the russian "navy" and a ukrinian tugboat. The russians won but only after boarding the tugboat with FSB troops. Picrelated is a grave threat to Russian security and all Russian Black sea fleet.

Attached: 3.jpg (800x533, 98K)

My point is that all you need is something to protect the coast. For the short period of time any war with Russia would take(long war will inevitably end in their defeat because of the size of their economy and lacklustre manpower pool), the traffic may be just stopped or redirected through the road network. Remember that we're living in a world of limited budget, where the money that isn't spent for modernising ships buys modern fighters, ATGM's and artillery fire control systems.

>hold the aircraft carrier as the centerpiece of their navy
>accuse other navies of being obsolete
Oh the irony.

When will the Ukrainian army reoccupy the East?

Most of your ships are from the Warsaw Pact times.

Yes they are. They literally layed of hundreds of workers recently and both shipyards are near permanent lockdown.
Only reason they arent closed now is because you continue to dump billions in that failed shit hoping that cinese would buy them.
Guess what, chinese dont want anything to do with it, they left after 3 days lmao

Missile boats, minelayers and anti-air frigates are ideal for defense Don't really serve much purpose when it comes to power projection though, so they have little purpose for naval powers who want to project far and wide.

that's because our armed forces are bunch of uhljebi. We have like 2 or 3 battalions that are actually capable so we can send them to NATO missions

When Russia collapses again. We are hoping for a GDR and BRD scenario that you are familiar with. And with their current leadership, it looks like its going to happen sooner rather then later.

It's important to have centralized communications and especially distress channels so Israel knows what to jam when they "accidentally" strafe and then torpedo your ships and lifeboats.

Well, yeas, they did capture the tugboat and imprisoned its crew.

That's not a concern of the Baltic countries and doesn't have anything to do with fighting Russia.

>white country
>USA
tell me more, nigger

Show that one with big cannon made hole in it.

I gotta admit ,your sailors had massive balls to pull out that suicide stunt though. Its miracke noone got killed.

Uljanik is in trouble, it's orchestrated, it's in middle of Pula, they wanna have marine and hotels there, so they ruined it. Brodosplit, which builds military vessels have different problem, lack of workers

Are you somewhat retarded or do you beleive that everybody lives on a fucking island?

nigga this is one of your ships, fuck off

Attached: Clipboard01.png (190x103, 21K)

Yea that's true. Only new ship is Kormoran.
They did however upgraded Orkan class. This ship have very little to do with what they where at beginning.

Anyway PL Navy is in sad shape. Biggest investment in last 10 yr was NSM system.

US Army mutt adventures in Romania:

>assault a corn field with a mechanized division, peasants tell you you're in the wrong area yet you march forward to make sure that the evul corn will never be able to pose a threat
>entire divisions get lost while operating, they can't even read a god damn map and have to rely on information from the command center
>fire drilling conducted on civilian targets, made possible because the fire operators couldn't calculate the distance properly
>soldiers stationed at the AEGIS base in Deveselu caught using underage prostitutes
>soldiers stationed at the Mihail Kogalniceanu Airbase sent to pick up trash from the beach as punishment for using drugs and hookers while on duty
>river crossing over the Danube failed because the US engineers couldn't properly set up a god damn bridge, multiple APCs end up at the bottom of the river

many such cases, they are not sending in their brightest! Looking forward for the next military exercise, mutt adventures in foreign countries never cease to amaze me.

good boat, wrong crew.

>Sail ship
Based and prepared for oil sanctions.

it is true we don't send our best.

You do realise that those shipyards were bread and butter of those coast cities right ? And lets not talk about national interest and defence ? It baffles me realy how noone in that croachistan didnt move a little finger to save those and how it got systematicly dismantled and ruined.

Well you will see consequences soon enough, you deserve it realy.

>suicide stunt
What stunt? This was a regular sea transit of a tugboat. This was just the time russians decided to finally block Kerch. Before that, during the whole hybrid war russians let ukrainian vessels through. There were some agreements on the joint russian-ukrainian usage of the Kerch straights, but as Bismark said "Any agreement with Russia isn't worth the paper it is signed on". i'm more surprised they don't finish the fucking job and occupy the rest of southern Ukraine.

I screencapped this.
Thanks user, its pure comedy.

I know, don't remind me... But shipbuilding is in problems everywhere, where are british, french or german shipyards, they are limited now to smaller unique vessels, you cannot compete with China and Korea. Also after yugoslavia we had to import more stuff for them so we got less competetive

I don't even want to know the absolute state of our navy today, Its hard to imagine that once upon a time in the early cold war our navy was in the top 5 in terms of sheer fleet size.

Attached: 14195394_1204594516228836_7774418263691785906_o.jpg (2048x1279, 423K)

Most of those countries are not Slavic. This guy is an idiot. And no amount of subs will save you from 5000 Russian tanks. It's just some asshole trying to justify his existance. Only way to beat Russia is through guerilla warfare until their supply of Gopniks runs out.

that's true, but for contingency planning you need to cover as many bases a possible. besides, in the event of war, the US would provide more than enough artillery systems, air support, etc. for our friends.

your submarines are still ok

friends, lol. Your only true friend is Israel, the rest of the world can burn in hell.

True and we are getting new ones in the coming 3-4 years aswell, But the surface vessle fleet is just outright pathetic right now.

Mutts have this problem, they keep ignoring ethnical traits and think that money and good will can turn an Albanian in a proved sailor, when the only thing they ever sailed are wetback boats to Puglia.

>Their navy doesn't have an active duty sail ship

As i understood it was breach of protocol that new sea borders broight since Crimea is now Russian teritorial waters, not international.
You got warned though and despite that you went into it, even when they warned you at the scene that they will shoot those 3 ships continued.
You will unite with Russia eventualy, borderland will always be gates to Russia. Its coming close user, just wait when december comes.

This must be the ancient polish military wiseness.

Navy is fucking gay. Because it depends on quality arsenals of ships and equipment but only effective if it matched with the nations' geopolitics. Which resulted in burdens of military expenditure. (particularly the coastal length. Think how Chilean, Vietnam navy got trouble on their navy to guard their very long shaped country)
Having Strong Easten Europe NATO Navies to Beat Russian Navy is total redundant when army and AF is more dominant and all navy things will be handled by USN for free. Strong navy is critical if those nations have open seas.
>Black Sea, Baltic Sea, totally encircled with lands.
>baltic states navy still useless when Russia is just land neighbors except as guide for USN
>Ukrainian Navy, Romanian Navy. Lel. Only Turkish Navy is the most important to face Russia and also blockade the Bosporus.
You either got very big sticks and claim all the waters or just be small and irrelevant.

>Romanian Navy

we don't even have a doctrine revolved around a powerful navy, we need ours just to safeguard the Danube crossings and our coast. We recently bought a shitload of Patriot Systems for our coastguard and that's basically our main defense in case Russia decides to roflstomp their navy at us.
