In America, the problem is it’s assumed to be the default option. People have been doing it for over 100 years. Fathers are beginning to change their mind about that, though. That is a relief. Make sure you tell your friends that it is unnecessary and teach your son when he gets a little older. I’m not going to do it to my son, even though my father did it to me. I don’t hold any ill will or grudge. He only did it because he thought it was what was best for me based on his understanding. If I could change it of course I would. The next best thing is to change it starting with my own son and warn him not to fall for the people advocating it. If he has a medical condition or wants to remove it for aesthetic reasons, we/he can deal with that when we teach that point. There is no reason to do that to a baby boy though outside of medical complications.
