Why is standing on box allowed during a nationally televised debate?

Now, I would never make fun of a manlett (to their face at least)....but why is this shit allowed? Hillary Clinton had one too in 2016.....whats stopping Beto or Biden (who are actually 6ft tall) from demanding their own stepping stool in order to continue towering over the midget wetback?

Well pol?!

Is Yang on a box, too?

I'm still just wondering why Marco Rubio was there?

lol, he's Marco Rubio's uglier autistic brother for sure

it would appear so

No. Yang can levitate.

in reality, it is so the camera shots are more consistent.

This, live tv cam ops have to make quick and televisable pans at a moments notice, its immensely helpful if everyone's around the same height, also prob muh tall priviledge from the lefties giving the women and manlets a fair chance

There's a bunch of valid things that could be said about taller people being percieved as more trustworthy, attractive, etc... but it's honestly just so the cameras can pan from one candidate to the next and their faces are all in the same plane.

AV Club in the house.

arguably it's for camera/presentation purposes, they do the same thing on game shows so short contestants are visible to the cameras

TV guy here. It’s actually a pretty common thing, because in medium/wide shots (when there’s more than one person in frame) it’s too hard for camera ops to adjust for the height discrepancies. The lighting is even more of a problem. It would take hours and hours to make sure everyone is lit properly, Nevermind how bad it would look if there were different podiums to match people heights. Frankly a lot of Hollywood alpha a-list are short and we put them on boxes in female scenes. All those Tv anchors you see are on height adjustable chairs and directors make sure everyone is “on an equal level”. .

what would they do if some 6'8" uberchad ran for president? would they cut a hole in the floor?

They're also arranged in an arc so the camera can be focused to a fixed distance.

If Biden dropped a comment about the stepping stool and brought his own to the next debate it would be a huge win for him. Unfortunately democrats can’t into memes and bantz. Which is one of the main reasons why Drumpf probably will win.

I doubt the democrat party will still be around when Barron runs for emperor.

they all are

I would disagree....plus the short fat bitch on the far left didn't have a stand, since she is a woman and height doesnt matter.

But we have never had a "short" President before....the average height is 6ft.....Julian Castro claims to be 5'9" but normal photos put him at around 5"6

You're going to need more than a step stool to beat the god emperor

In another words a fucking illusion

Let's dispel this fiction that Donald Trump doesn't know what he's doing. He knows exactly what he's doing.

Producers would try to get the next tallest beside uberchad. It’s like the grade school photos where everyone is lined up in height.

Interesting to note: in presidential debates no one is placed beside each other for medium shots. They are on opposite sides of the stage and the only frame where they’d be in the same natural shot is a wide where height isn’t an issue. That’s why there is a lot of negotiation in debates if candidates can actually leave their podiums and roam the stage. Taller candidates will push for it, and then cross in front of shorter candidates, on purpose, during debates.

It is all very thought out.

The vast majority of it is the demand of the candidates. It’s not the media /news producers. Short candidates don’t want to look small. The only argument usually from the news staff is if there are front runners; they want to group them together somehow because there’s usually better heat. And the candidates staff want that as well (even on boxes) because it’s better TV for them.

Everything on the stage is approved by all the candidates and their campaigns, in lots of mutual negotiations and not the network. From a tech perspective it’s a headache. (There’s a dry run rehearsal, where candidates reps take the podiums and we do shot an mic checks. I’ve hears reps complain about making sure everyone has the same pen, or want a different mic. It’s a massive pig fuck.

doesn't that tell you they're liars and it's all a facade

they're being honest by accident
