If it were not for people's pride and emotional attachment to the 50 YEAR OLD unrepeatable moon landing claim, also with only ONE - THOUSANDTH the distance capable FIVE DECADES later, they would otherwise easily recognize this equally preposterous claim as the fraud that it sadly is.
The alleged moon landings are the only technological claim in the entire history of the world, such as the first automobile, airplane, or nuclear power, which was not far surpassed in capability 50 YEARS later, much less not even able to be duplicated by any nation on earth 50 YEARS later. The supposed moon landings are also the only time in history that such claimed expensive technology was deliberately destroyed afterwards (175 BILLION DOLLARS worth), only done so to hide the evidence of the fraud.

The Mt Everest and South Pole expeditions didn’t have billions of dollars in government funding and thousands of the best German and US engineers behind them, either. As for the idiocy about “losing” the technology to go back, it’s bullshit. When companies stop making things they don’t keep the old tools, dies, and assembly lines sitting around forever. They scrap or sell it to make room for other things. No one can build Model Ts or Concordes today, either. Not because the tech was “lost” but because all of the tools used to make them are long gone and it would be too expensive to recreate them. While we could recreate the Saturn V and Apollo hardware, what would be the point? They’re extremely outdated and we’ve got far better tech now. The replacements are already being designed for the Mars missions. Why haven’t we gone back? Well, what would be the point? It’s an extremely hostile environment and there’s not a lot there to justify the risk and expense. Anything we could get there we can get more cheaply here. So why go back?

You realize that's exactly what happened after the collapse of the Roman Empire, right? And it took centuries to recover?
We can't make Iowa-class battleships anymore either. All the tooling for the engine components was destroyed decades ago, the tooling to make guns that big doesn't exist anymore, we can't recreate the mechanical fire control computers because we forgot how after we invented electronic computers, and we're not even sure how to recreate the steel used for battleship armor because it was a classified secret during WW2 and the documentation was destroyed in a warehouse fire in the 60's.
If we wanted to build a modern battleship, using modern technology, what knowledge we retain of building battleships would only help in a general sense, and it would take years to pull it off because we'd be doing most of the design work by scratch, figuring out how to do it with modern tech, building the tooling and machinery to build all the parts and assemble them, etc.
Now take into account that building a fucking spaceship is a hell of a lot more complicated. The user manual for flying the space shuttle is 1,000 pages long. That's for FLYING the space shuttle, operating the other onboard systems, such as the storage bay and robot arm used to put satellites into orbit, had their own user manuals.
Space exploration isn't easy, especially when you're basically starting from scratch.
You're right, it's not like the Soviets ever had access to things like television, radio, newspapers, etc. they could use to denounce us as frauds and tell the world we never landed on the moon.
