If I remember right we made the amount of time off for good behavior you could get each year 15%, as had previously been legislated but not enforced because the prison system decided 15% of a year was 47 days rather than 54, so some criminals got out a couple weeks early. This has been used to say the criminal justice reform passed just was Trump letting all sorts of violent murderers onto the streets against the promises to not have the new programs for early release be able to be used by violent criminals or whatever (of course those promises actually were kept).
