Because the modern world is a woman's market in terms of dating. Women outearn men now and no longer are expected to be chaste. You need both status, which during your early life means being born in a gold cradle, and also looks (or at least dont look like shit). Having these two requirements you also need a routine in which you get to meet people.
To put it short, a not so attractive person who is born relatively poor (low autonomy) and is socially excluded or has no opportunities to develop a social routine has no chance whatsoever in the dating game. Its not the end of the world though.
