How hard is it to see the pattern? People who are abused as children often grow up with intentions to subject children to what they went through. Kids that are molested or raped grow up confused and damaged, their understanding of sex skewed and immoral. With age, they resent what happened to them, they feel powerless when they remember, so to regain some power, they feel they need to do to a child what was done to them. This misunderstanding of sex may also confuse their sense of normality; e.g. little boys being molested by older men often leads to them wanting sex with men to, for some reason, reexperience what happened. That could also be a contributor to the domestic violence statistics in homosexual relationships.
Now not all gays, child abusers, and pedophiles stem from this, but a lot are made this way.
