They are concerned with braces folding/collapsing and having an VFG creating a configuration that is an AOW . If its a fixed brace at a known length >26.5 they are still fine with a VFG.

vfg + stock = sbr
vfg + no stock (read: brace) + length sub 26.5 = AOW
vfg + no stock (read:brace) + length over 26.5 = still a pistol
If the brace collapses/extends/folds you must measure it with it fully collapsed/folded if you plan to put on a VFG. No VFG no problems
