LMT's 7.62 rifle beat out HK's 417 for the UK DMR contract a few years back. It also beat out the SCAR-H.
I think the SAS still use 417s though. Either way their both good rifles from good companies.

I live in finland, I always see ar's jam. Always on the range and on courses people have ar's and they always jam or have some problems. I've literally never seen an ak variant have problems, except one galil ar .223. I don't think a rifle that never works is a good choise here, since we live so close to each others too, the weather is quite similiar, except a bit less cold on winters.
