Hey Jow Forums, it turns out my great grandpa who was in world war two brought back this handgun from Germany. I was wondering what it was. It has Deutch Werke on the side. Will post more pics.

I have skinny hands, so the gun probably looks a little bigger than it is

Pretty sure that's an FN Browning 1910

Very cool family heirloom. Keep it no matter what. If you ever have kids, show it to them. Or other family members that may be interested.
It's probably safe to shoot but I wouldn't.

Its an ortgies. Neat little .32acp pistol. Also your grandfather fought for the bad guys. Fuck him.

That one is .25 caliber.

How could you possibly know which side he fought for? War bring backs were legal back then so he could have picked it off a dead soldier and might have been fighting for just about anybody

Lol contrarian faggot.

but he's right, you know

Seconded

Thirded

>fought for the allies in ww1
>bad guys
M8 you’re thinking of ww2

He payed the iron price and took it off a dead kraut.

Read OPs post you moron. Says his great grandfather fought in WWII.

Who would have had it though? What soldiers would have been equipped with ? Germans obviously, but what units i mean. Military police? Engineers maybe?

Most likely an officer or volkssturm member. Would have been awesome if a German had killed his GGrandfather and taken the pistol back.

This is the last useful post in this thread.

Hey i got one of those too

That's pretty cool user. I dont have a picture of it, but my gramps was a canadian volunteer in Finland who killed commies. He gave me his stahlhelm.

He's obviously not left. This doesn't make him somewhat correct

All I got was a ppk

>SS officer.
Sure, pal.

>not some Reichsbahn, Polizei, Volkssturm, SA, Kriegsmarine, or other last ditch unit thrown into the grinder before the war was over

Ortgies. Interesting pistol. Not a single screw in the thing. Be careful taking it apart, the striker spring follower will fly away to the great gun parts black hole in the sky.

FN 1910 32 ACP

Was also the type of gun used to assassinate the Archduke Ferdinand thus starting ww2 These guns were used by luffewaffe pilots as sidearms as well as the FN 1900

WW1* my mistake

retard

Other issue with Ortgies is sear wear, if it needs two trigger pulls to fire, that is the problem.

Officers had to buy their pistols, unlike some low ranks who were issued their because a rifle would be unpractical. Field officers would go for the 9mms while older and unlikely-to-see-combat officers might prefer a small peashooter. Also the Germans were the all time masters in the art of reissuing captured weapons to second line troops.
