So this is a thread about SBRs. Post yours. I also have a question to anyone who has built one recently. How long did it take for your Form 1 to get approved? I plan on building one soon and just want to know as I've never built or owned one before.

Bumping because muh 14.5" aestetics
What the plan with yours OP

Like 16 months, but this was the tail end of the Obama administration and the trust legislation to proper it up instead of letting rando trusts get it (which only require a notary stamp really), so there was probably a glut of applications.

So ze say, it's pretty short nowadays.

I was thinking of doing either a 12 1/2" with short suppressor or a 14.5" m4 carbine. I've already done my trust and stamp on a Saker ASR for whatever build I go with.

I'm hoping it's shorter than 15 months, I've talked to 2 of my local ffls about it and they haven't had anyone purchase any lately so they couldn't really help

Just get a 10.3" and a carbine gas system if you're getting an SBR stamp. Otherwise 13.7" with a pinned muzzle and no SBR stamp, just pinned for suppressor. Of course, 20" for standard ball ammo (and suppressor length without powdering up the baffles).

my plan isn't set in stone yet, I still have time because I'm still saving for some other parts like the single stage trigger I'm looking at and another optic.

Guess you gotta decide on the barrel and the optic that suits it before you do anything else.

mostly the barrel. the suppressor I am getting is around 6" long but if I go with a 14.5" barrel, I want to be able to take it off.

Id got my lowers stamped right before 41 p or f or nigger or what ever it was. It took around 8 months on e filed form one. You're prolly looking at less than that right now but I havent been through the new possess.

Forgot pic.

Did you get those cans from Jeff?

i thought there would be more pistol braces here

I like the length of this. I might get a 10.5: barrel

Silencer Shop.

YHM Phantom Titanium QDs in 5.56 and 7.62

AAC Illusion 9mm

10.5" is the shortest my can was rated for. 10.3" is the shortest barrel I'd suppress.

11.5" has slightly better operating pressure and velocity, but I wanted mine as short as I could go.

Ah. well if you're in the low country hit up Jeff. He's an awesome dude with a SOT and cheap transfers.

one of my favorites to shoot.

I'm considering getting the Barrel on my SCAR 17 cut down. maybe someday.
very cute!

>sbr thread
i would post tons as a meme and boast about how i can take mine over state lines and leave them loaded in my car, but that would be a cunty thing to do.

>SBR a 308 Win rifle

y tho?

My friend just got like 4 form 1s approved. Took about 6 months for each.

I personally wouldn’t bother SBRing something longer than an 11” barrel. I’ve got a MK18 clone I want to stamp, but getting my brothers fingnerprints for my trust has been a huge pain. I efiled both my SBRs during the 41f rush and it was about a year

found an old one of my mp5k clone before I had the barrel threaded 1/2x28.
Cant believe I've had this 8 years already.

Just got my stamp back a few days ago. Took a little under 6 months.

What a pointless concept.

Honest question here. If I just buy a 10.5 upper and swap it out with the upper on the AR I already have every once in awhile when I want to go shoot it innawoods, who is ever really gonna find out?

No one. You could probably keep it like that all the time and nobody would know. Not even a lot of cops are familiar with NFA regulations .
But that is federal crime and breaking the law is wrong, regardless of whether or not your rights are seemingly "guaranteed" by our nation's founding document.

>breaking the law is wrong
That does not follow.
Chewing gum is illegal in singapore
Collecting your own rainwater is illegal in colorado

Form 1 is currently in process for this one. The Form 4 for the suppressor (yhm wraith xl 45) has been mailed off but the check isn't cashed yet.

Trust or Individual? I'm just getting into the game with a Form 1 and three Form 4's mailed off this month. I'm told it can make a difference if it's filed as an Individual or Trust

not the user youre asking but generally individual takes less time than a trust. as for the reason why, less paperwork and its going to one individual person, but thats just a guess

Rats, did all of mine through SilencerShop with a trust. Oh well, at least it was easy and there's a beneficiary.

Individual because for right now it's just me. I'm living with my GF but she's not going on a trust just yet.

Trusts are sitting around 7 months from what I see. I've still got a form 4 pending but it's dew anytime now.

no worries user, im pretty much in the same boat as you.
the 45 can is the only one on a trust, but i think my future purchases will be with the single shot thing as well.
22lr can will be next.

Submitted mine around late August 2017 and got the stamp end of March 2018. Get the lower as soon as you can, submit the stamp, and do your best to forget about it while you wait

what the fuck?

Im working on a 300 blackout build, everywhere ive researched has said a 9 inch barrel is best, is this true or am i being memed?

I'm wondering if they ever opened the electronic Form 1 submission again. I was thinking of doing this back at the end of 2016 but ended up with a new rifle instead. I've heard that the electronic filing takes less time though.

what handguard is that my dude

not him but its a Knights Armament URX 3.1

Braces don't make a pistol into a rifle, but they do make an SBR kind of pointless for most of us. I'm not sure why we're acting afraid to say this. The ATF is being pretty reasonable on this issue and you're not doing anything wrong by having a braced pistol and no SBR stamp.

nice build desu

How do you like that optic?

that's what I'm trying to figure out. but SOCOM does it so it must be useful for something.

Read between the lines. Its almost like I implied that those laws are irrelevant.

braces have come a long way, thats for sure. a stock is still better but im not one to criticize someone if they dont want to get a tax stamp

AAC said 9" is peak efficiency and since they designed the round I'd take their word for it. What I'm torn on is I want something even shorter but also don't want to see a serious drop in velocity.

Serious question but why should I get an SBR when I can get an AR pistol, not pay a $200 tax, not file a bunch of paperwork with the ATF, and not notify them whenever I want to bring it to another state?

10.5 PSA CHF.

Looking to get another SBR probably a BCM upper either 11.5 5.56 or 9'' 300 memeout.

But first I want to get a 14.5

What’s the difference between an SBR and a pistol AR? It seems to me that now that shoulder braces are allowed, a pistol would be preferred because you wouldn’t need to pay for a stamp due to length.

Would this be a good idea?
Maybe swap out the break for a supressor

>tfw have 3 F1s pending in late October and haven't received them yet
I'm struggling here

My last form 1s took about 8-10 months. Supposedly going down lately.

Actually big feels man i wanna go to 6 inches but the velocity loss spooks me

Nice, looks like we are in the waiting game together. It will be a race to the finish

Why bother with stamps and all that shit when you can ar pistol whatever you want?

because not everyone wants another AR pistol and braces are stupid and could still be banned.
