True story. I was at the LGS last week. Saw a Mark 23 sitting there. Realized it was the most ridiculous handgun on display. Fuckhuge. I asked to finger it. Dude behind counter asked," oh the M23? Take a look at dis!" He proceeds to whip out a mark 23 with some giant fucking suppressor attached from his robocop holster, clears the chamber, and lets me have a look see. It was bizarre and made my day.

Not him, but while the .45 by itself doesn't have harsh recoil,
the UMP receiver is so lightweight and that combined with the really heavy and blocky bolt gives the UMP some pretty snappy recoil.
I've got a semi-auto UMP clone in .45 and it isn't unpleasant to shoot, but it's definitely got some noticeable recoil. I can imagine how much worse it would be in FA.

I really like this set-up but I don't know if I would have the heart to get rid of the 3x because aesthetics. Perhaps someday. I'm at least able to do shit like pins with ease, now.

This was actually a build off of one of the new Omega receivers.
I didn't want to have to deal with cutting the vent holes or the plastic-welding involved with the back end of the receiver and the hook to hold the stock into place.
The only guy that really knows how to do the conversion correctly is Tom Bostic, but to do the whole project is expensive as fuck, but with the Omega receiver, all the conversion work is already done,
plus, since it is technically just the receiver you buy, you can build it into a "pistol" configuration with a brace so you can have the correct 8" barrel.
With the USC you have to SBR it before you can install the shorter barrel.
I'm still going to send in my SBR paperwork anyways, but I don't have to deal with the stupidly long barrel while I wait.

The finish is a little slicker than HK's finish, but it's very durable and I haven't had a single issue with mine at all.
I've probably put almost 1000 rounds through it already and haven't had a single failure yet.
I had heard good things about Omega's MP5 clones so when I saw this for sale, I thought it would be a cool and fun build to put together.
I honestly don't care too much about the HK stamp not being present on it as long as it works well.
Also, overall the build came out cheaper than if I would have done a full USC conversion.
I am planning on getting one of the TommyBuiltTactical G36 clone receivers, which was done by the same company who made the molds for Omega's receivers.
The fact that we'll be able to get a proper G36C, G36K, or G36E clone for less than $2500 without dealing with the SL8 conversion bullshit is pretty nice,
since the conversion work required for an SL8 is similar but a little more involved than the USC, which is why proper semi-auto SL8 conversions are retard levels of expensive.
