It's hard to become a cop in my town, seems like a great job if you can get it though. High pay, almost no crime, and they have lots of expensive gear to fuck around with. It's a huge waste of taxpayer money, but as a NEET I can't hate them for leeching off the taxpayers.

You also need to get certified for a rifle or shotgun before you can keep it in your vehicle (though some sheriff departments just let you qualify with it in a day without having to take a week long rifle/shotgun course then qual). If you do get a rifle issued, it's going to be a beyond beat to shit antique from Vietnam, not exaggerating. If they're out, you have to provide your own.

This is the case with my department, some are actually adequately funded so maybe it's different there. Usually blue states get a realistic budget, but you wouldn't want to work in one of those shitholes where you actually do fit the stereotype of fascist pig.
