China's only real capability at this point is economic strength and expansion. too many people in their backyard have bones to pick against them. India is getting more and more pissed about the meddling China has been doing in Bhutan and Nepal and also doesn't like that the Chinese government has been claiming a lot of territory India claims, Vietnam is ultra pissed at the Chinese messing up their stuff in the South China Sea and has had beef with the PRC basically ever since the end of Vietnam War, Japan wants re-militarization now almost more than ever and hates China to death, Taiwan is desperate for any help they can get against the Chinese, North Korea is too hesitant to let Chinese businesses in to do things like mine up the mountains (which is precisely why China has sided with the Norks for the past few decades; but the Norks don't want this because they know it will destroy their country and China would leave nothing for them) and so North Korea has been trying to warm up to the West more, and the Philippines despite having a fairly pro-China president is chock-full of people who despise China's occupation of their marine territory.

China still has a powerful military, but their power sprouts from their trade integration with those around them. otherwise they would be back to a third world country, since they depend upon the US among others for things like food and customers.

I think the Phillipines is prochina mostly because of US policies prior to Trump. Obama's administration was very controlling and Duterte figured that he could do what he wanted with Chinese backing vs. being micromanaged by a retarded US administration. You can't walk that back overnight though, so Duterte is in bed with the Chinese but maybe in a few years he or another ruler will come back to the middle of the road.

Weaker, the Soviet Union is no longer a threat and Russia isn't a problem in the long term. No reason to maintain that level of strength if there's really nothing to point it at.

Meeting the leader of what is arguably the second most powerful nation on earth is more important than meeting with a bunch of spineless socialists who have said numerous times that they dislike America and its policies.

NATO is weaker. Without a real enemy each country want to spend less on the military if they can. On the bright side it is nice that total war and destruction isn't hanging over our heads any more. On the dark side - why did we have to become pussies?

It's weaker than it once was. Both in terms of relations between members and overall power. The opposition it was designed to counter has weakened far more, but nevertheless NATO is fracturing. It will take another great threat in order for most (EU) member states to get their shit back in order.
