Is currently Russian military as powerful as it is said to be?

Does it pose a serious threat to NATO?

To the three Baltic states? Yes.

To any country farther west of that? No.

To risk of nuclear escalation? Maybe.

I guess that's why they are so badly trying to destabilize the west via intelligence services instead

Go home hillary you're drunk

go home drunk you're hillary

russian here.
No.

Would you more or less argue that certainity?

>balkans, Poland and Romania
Yes
>other NATO members in Europe
Nope

>If you're a Fingol or some Balkan subhuman
Yes

>If you're an Eastern Euro
Yes

>If you're from the actually human parts of Europe
A reduced threat, but maintain a standing military with an eye for countering any possible incursion from the east

>If you're a Yank, China, Brit or France
You're safe. You're either too far away to ever worry about a land confrontation or in the case of China, you're a somewhat superior land army.

>If you're Canad-
No one cares.

Yes it poses a serious threat. When they were commies they were a global threat causing instability and potentially a world holocaust. They've said before they want to go back to acting like that and invade other countries near them. If it wasn't for US diplomatic relations Russia and China would probably turn the Eurasian continent into a radiation belt from nuclear arms.

Rule of thumb seems to be that Russia is never as weak as people hope or as strong as people fear.

Lol.....No.

Russia is a meme.
If they act up, we'll just sic the Finns on them.

Russia can beat every NATO country, except US. Even Turkey nowadays is stronger than Britain/France.

It's fucking insane they were allowed to invade Georgia and the Ukraine without a larger world response. It's a fucking disgrace that the European Union was less capable than NATO and are only starting to take this seriously now that they're losing England from their alliance when that's so close to their sphere of influence. I wouldn't be surprised if their fighting age men decided to join a jihad instead in those countries instead of any sort of nationalism after watching that happen from their leaders.

>Does it pose a serious threat to NATO?

Only if you share a border with them.

>superior land army
>chink
Not in this century.

No one wants to risk starting a new great war over some 19th century style land grabs, except for the Russians that is. Also literally almost all of the European Union members were a part of NATO since before the EU officially became a thing. And fuck the EU, let England and the UK leave, anything that worries or angers the Merkelstan controlled EU is a GOOD thing.

Benelux states have larger economy than Russia.
They can't sustain any kind of serious conflict. Ukraine and Syria is in stalemate for years already, while russian blowing colossal money on those wars.
Also, you may not like it, but these sanctions is much more effective than war. Right now a lot of russians can't afford food and it will become even worse.
Also oligarchs will be not watching forever how their money burning away, and oligarchs is who really have power in Russia.

The UK completely fucked itself. Militarily too. Shit's going to be reversed well within our lifetimes.

>but these sanctions is much more effective than war
Yeah, probably that why Russia hosting a fucking World Cup right now.
Just close a fucking gas valve and Russia is over. But instead Germany, country who pretty much lead EU, building another gas pipe to Russia.

The 2008 War was Georgia being stupid, they expected that they could shell Russian peacekeepers and not provoke a response. They were incorrect.

The Russian response was haphazard at best. It was a mess of outdated equipment, poorly coordinated units, ill-trained conscripts and bad intelligence. The entire operation was a massive clusterfuck that also fell into chaos multiple times and resulted in Russia overhauling its entire structure. The idea that is was a planed aggressive Russian invasion is incorrect, it was a strategically defensive action in response to Georgian military action and the US tempered its response accordingly.

UK has largest military budget in Europe.

>Yeah, probably that why Russia hosting a fucking World Cup right now.
They bribed FIFA you dumbass nigger.

Oh look, a retarded ape too stupid to read subtext. They literally went against the wishes of the place that hosts most of their nuclear sub fleet and has most of their domestic oil. The UK will either cease to exist as a unified entity or will rejoin the EU by 2040.

Wishful thinking.
>Benelux states have larger economy than Russia.
>GDP
>They can't sustain any kind of serious conflict
The can, they are at war almost every time.
>Ukraine and Syria is in stalemate for years already
nytimes.com/2018/05/21/world/middleeast/syria-damascus-rebels.html
>Also, you may not like it, but these sanctions is much more effective than war.
If by sanctions you mean low oil prices, then yes.
>Right now a lot of russians can't afford food and it will become even worse
>oligarchs is who really have power in Russia.

They're not risking a great war if someone brings it to them. They're letting themselves get weaker while that war machine gains momentum.
No the EU and NATO are nothing alike, NATO is people typically near the Atlantic. That's hardly anybody. Others were just lucky to get in and gain favor with nations in there. It's a disgrace to leave others behind like that but totally a fundamentally different reason than why NATO was made. THE EU could have filled that gap but they're more concerned about other issues because they feel the U.S. will just do it while taking for granted everything it already does. Germany has come quite a long way and the only people to help out Greece in a major way, that alone should make anyone part of that union skeptical of it when they try to blame the Brits for pulling out.
That's the stupidest thing I've ever heard. If a state in the US did that shit nobody would have called it a shitty invasion and conceded land like that. That sort of hostility didn't come from ill trained conscripts, it came from people that were more than willing to trade the blood of their poor to hurt other people for lines on a map and make more poor people miserable and cause instability.

Point at this dumbass and laugh. Do you think Syria is a serious conflict that challenges the Russian military?

>says Slavs aren't human
>praises chinks
Every. fucking. time.

Russian forces literally invaded internationally recognized Georgian territory you apologist faggot.

Shoot yourself in the head.

When did last time russians fought that far away from their borders?

1992

>Georgia overruns separatist positions, killing Russia peacekeepers in the process.
>Medvedev decides that not retaliating to dead Russian soldiers would be political suicide.
>Russian military launches counter-offensive into Georgia, only succeeding due to Georgia forces running at the first sign of artillery fire.
>Russia withdrawals to prewar positions.
>Russian military gets overhauled due to fuckups.

It was an entirely different situation then Ukraine, were Russia took advantage of internal strife to launch its own offensive aimed at territorial expansion. Ukraine was an aggressive Russian action while Georgia was a reaction.

Attached: Russia_T72B_2008_first_loss.jpg (1260x840, 205K)

>Russia withdrawals to prewar positions.
youtube.com/watch?v=KkY92ExYyaw

Tajikistani civil war
1992-1997
But the war for Transnistria (1992) was further away from a Russian border

>By the end of August Russian troops withdrew.
Exactly.

No it wasn't faggot. Russia, along with literally every other country on Earth recognized those areas as belonging to Georgia. Russia invaded Georgia first. PERIOD.

That's just bluster from the Scots; the UK has already stated they wouldn't allow Scotland to continue using the pound, Scotland would have to negotiate huge amounts of trade deals immediately from a weak position, and the EU isn't going to grant them immediate membership (and such membership would come with caveats, like allowing other members usage rights to Scottish fisheries and oil).

Legally that is correct.
In practice Georgia never actually administrated the region after the fall of the USSR. In 2008 Georgia reignited the frozen conflict, killed Russian peacekeepers and overran a great deal of territory promoting the Russian response to restore the prewar status quo. It was an entirely different set of circumstances then in the Ukraine.

Go drunk Hillary you're home.

>Ukraine is in stalemate for years already
Do we need to have the talk again?

only if there was a soviet reunion by russia dominating their eastern borderlands again and recreating a neo-soviet bloc

lmfao When has russia EVER been forth coming about their ACTUAL military capabilities!?

When they're selling their surplus to other people to use so they don't have to get their hands dirty doing it themselves.

Home you're go . Hillary drunk

just like how india will be a superpower by 2020

Also this
if Canada mudered some American servicemen and then started slaughtering Americans and Canadians in Canada
Would you not retaliate

Solid non sequitur on your part. Suicide is still on the table for you.

Lick more boot you fucking piece of shit. Russia invaded Georgian territory and Georgia tried to take it back rightfully. That is literally the only thing that matters.

A huge amount of this post is factually wrong. Ignorance like yours is a cancer.

>kill Russian servicemen
>get skull caved in
>omg why you retaliate
>we wuz innocent n sheeeiiit

Looks like someone doesn't know history.
>1991/1992 the USSR is falling apart.
>South Odessa decides they want to be their own republic, not part of a post-Soviet Georgia.
>Independent Georgia doesn't want an independent South Ossetia.
>Yet another post-Soviet conflict starts.
>The Russians, who have yet to actually get their forces out of the area due to the state of post-Soviet Russia, manage to broker a ceasefire. Legally South Ossetia is part of Georgia, in practice it is its own autonomous region.
>Joint peacekeeping force set up.
>Fast forward to 2008.
>Georgia decides that having a frozen conflict is creating legal problems, attempts to renegotiate the ceasefire.
>Breakaway regions aren't having it.
>Georgia attacks, taking a large amount of territory and killing Russian peacekeepers.
>Russia counter-attacks, retaking the overrun territory and advancing into Georgia proper.
>Fighting ends.
>Russia withdrawals, lines remain the same as they had been since 1992.

If you want to claim a Russian invasion and annexation then you would have to go back to the 20s when the Soviets took over from the post-Czarist breakaway government. It is clear that while South Ossetia may have been part of the Georgian SSR and legally part of post-Soviet Georgia it never was in practice.

>rand corporation

Sigh. I know this is bait, but fucking hell OP.

They could take on maybe 1 NATO nation, but any 2 would tear them a new asshole. Their long-term prospects look terrible. Shit is rusting away in tank depots and on piers. Population is declining while border republics are becoming more assertive.

>as it is said to be?
Said by whom?
t. butthurt Hillary supporter who can't accept responsibility for running a bad campaign.

>shitting on rand
The fact the media misrepresents their reports does not mean that they do not produce some of the best reports out there.

>Russia could overrun Nato’s current military force in the Baltic states in a matter of hours
But what for? Russian government are liberal capitalists, Balt states are broke and depopulated, no profit can be gained from them and no current Russian problems can be solved by military invasion on their territory.

dont believe the edgy comments on the internet
finland is a story for itself and both finns and russians prefer it that way
youtube.com/watch?v=C4CYs6XKG40

dies that make the Georgians right with what they did?

nayrt but if you lived in east europe like I do you wouldn't scream "HILLARY" at every mention of russian intelligence services who are still deeply entrenched here, and even further west, see the Skripal poisoning. Granted, the DNC's bullshit claim of "RUSSIANS HACKED OUR ELEKSHUNS!!!!1!" is to take the blame for this view.

what did the georgians do to deserve this injustice?

Liberating opressed russian minorities and demonstrating military strength so people don't focus on the piss poor state of the country and the oligarchy can stay in power a little bit longer.

They're still far richer than most areas of russia. Additionally by that logic, what reason did they had to annex crimea? They had sanctions slapped on them, rubble dropped, people became poorer, and crimea is a financial black hole. I think what user said here is pretty accurate, it's populism.

>They need ot do EVIL things because they are EVIL
Jesus Christ, you, guys, need to throw away that Cold War propaganda books, they're outdated. Crimean operation was not about Russian minorities being oppressed and not about ratings. It was about keeping 3 millions of economically active Russian people integrated into Russian economy. Costs and profits, capitalism in its prime, occupation as investment. Same kind of investment in Donbass region was considered as unnecessary (but propaganda machine led nationalists into thinking that they can begin the war and Kremlin will immediately support them). Balt states are even less economically appealing. They have nothing to give to Russia, they used to have ports, but Russians build their own and switched trade roads cutting expenses.

>They had sanctions slapped on them, rubble dropped
Nope, it was not because of Crimea, it was because of Donbass, which was not Kremlin initiative, but Kremlin fuck up. If Russia took only and only Crimea, there would be no sanctions.

>t. I get my news from RT
Again, Crimea had lost its main tourism industry and is now a financial black hole for Russia. It was because of Crimea, and it was always said so. You don't know what you're talking about, and your "MUH ANTI KREMLIN PROPAGANDA" bullshit is embarassing.

Also, with russian tech confirmed shooting down a civvie plane over Donbass, the russian arms support is quite frankly confirmed, if you previously thought russians in Donbass pulled artillery out their ass.

>what reason did they had to annex crimea?
they had a naval base there since it was liberated from turks, and a soviet leader gave it to ukraine as a gift not 50 or 60 years ago
when ukrainians had a taste of the (((cookies))) then it was time to take back their naval base at the expense of international sanctions on some oligarchs and the fall of the oil price (i have no idea if the ruble came back up since then)
then the war in donbass started which is a guarantee that NATO or EU for that matter cant take ukraine in until it resolves it territorial disputes (meaning they give everything up for the sake of more cookies, coca cola and levi jeans) or conquers back everything they lost to the russians, meaning a full scale invasion of ukraine is in order and half of the country switches sides in the first 15 minutes as ukrainian jew oligarchs installed by the west run to their new home, back to the west, unless their presidential jets get blown out of the skies
all you heard is that russia got sanctioned, you never delved into what those sanctions were and how did they affect russia
2014 was 4 years ago
in that time they managed to resurrect Syria, killed off their moderate terrorist opposition leaving only alqaeda and kurds behind
how can one do that if their people are presumably starving and wanting freedom and democracy, i dont know

>russian tech
it was soviet tech
and crimea is more important than any sanctions you can put on them
crimea is not a tourist destination, its a naval base fro the times of the tzars, best location to have a naval base in the entire sea over there

They managed to assist Assad well, I agree on that point.
>their naval base
They annexed it during soviet time, if you think that must mean it's "theirs" you must be retarded.
The BUK was confirmed to have come from the Russian army by a several years long investigation, and Girkin posted on VKontakte claiming they shot down an antonov, until they realised it was a civvie plane and deleted it.

they posted that on slav fb when they shot down an unrainian army cargo plane, which they actually did killing 50 on board

That's what VKontakte is. They deleted it soon afterwards. It was around the same timeframe their comms saying they shot down the plane came. It's more clear than anything that MH 17 was the plane they were referring to.

theguardian.com/world/2018/may/24/mh17-downed-by-russian-military-missile-system-say-investigators

>t. I get my news from RT
youtube.com/watch?v=z5TMi82LmIo

>Crimea had lost its main tourism industry
They were a place for Ukrainian tourists, now they're place for Russian tourists.

>Also, with russian tech confirmed shooting down a civvie plane over Donbass, the russian arms support is quite frankly confirmed, if you previously thought russians in Donbass pulled artillery out their ass.
Plane was shoot down by Ukranians, but that's not the point, point is that Russian government did not start shitcoaster in Donbass, they were dragged later. People who started it are Russian nationalists and in some sort opposition to pro-west Putin regime.

Also, if Crimea is a financial black hole to Russia, then Balt states are even less appealing than relatively developed Crimea.

He is right, usa is not the only country in the world

>Girkin posted on VKontakte
Girkin didn't have a VK account at that time. His only social media in the web was forum of military reconstructions.
Also
>Investigation that is based on Twitter and Facebook and not on physics and vector math.

>look, it's a russia supporter, I'm right!
Baltic states are more developed than any area of russia sans moscow ever was. I already gave you a plethora of evidence, from separatist comms to years long investigation. If you choose to be ignorant beyond this point, you're beyond help.

About Girkin's account, you first said it was about another plane, now you're claiming that account doesn't exist at all. it¨s amusing. Here it is, anyways, go to bit ly and add 1kGPrtX beyond the slash because Jow Forums wont let me post links

Oh, and I see that you haven't even read the investigation report, either.

Listen, Eastern Europe only has one real problem : corruption.

Corruption been destroying us since the beginning of time and it will countinue to destroy EE, we will never reach western living standards doesnt matter if our political system is national socialism or communism or anything else, corruption is in our blood and it will never go away.

Western parts of Russia and Vladivostok are more developed. Aside from capitals of Estonia and Lithuania, living in baltic states is no better than living in the russian countryside.

Someone hasn't been in Baltics nor Russia.

>Baltic states used to be more developed than any area of russia sans moscow ever was.
Fixed for you

Is that why russians keep moving to the Baltic states then egging for them to be joined with russia instead of moving back?

Also "muh russia would never invade baltic states"
businessinsider.com/russia-reviews-baltic-states-independence-2015-6

They're obviously preparing a claim. They just haven't had the means to invade yet, when NATO started the border excercises.

I mean, to be fair, most of western Europe aside from England, Norway, and Sweden rely on Russian oil and gas. It also doesn't help that the average retard neocon at the time was going "hurr durr Putin is great because the media says the thing with the Trump and Hillary and OH BOY I'M GOING FULL RETARD HURR DURR"

The UK hasn't left the EU

>Russian """""peacekeepers""""

Tajikistan isn't that far away from Russia. I think that Soviet intervention in Africa is the furthest that Russian troops have gone prior to the end of the USSR.

>businessinsider.com/russia-reviews-baltic-states-independence-2015-6
It was an answer on Balt demands of "compensation" for being in USSR.

>what reason did they had to annex crimea?
For taking a share of the sex slave trade profit that comes out of that Jew riddled peninsula. Also, great warm weather, the only wine producing area that Russians can claim, and a bunch of old soviets that enjoy their faggy little corner of the world. Literally the best vacation spot a Russian could ask for.

I'd rather not be sac on Russia desu thank you very much t. Fingoloid

Although it would make collecting slavshit surplus easier, taking it straight off the POWs.

>Is that why russians keep moving to the Baltic states
Proof?

Attached: e8e.png (600x587, 84K)

Why did Russia attack in 2015 to stop the Ukrainian advance on the "separatists" then? Kyiv could've had it's territory back and RU could wipe their hands of this fiasco.

Strelkov was sent to the Donbas to try to stir up shit.

That's bullshit and even if it wasn't, threatening annexation gets you into the situation you are in now, which you very much deserve.

Proofs of what? Russians moving everywhere and causing shit everywhere they go? Look at how many russians live in the baltic states, and they are also one of the biggest immigrating demographic into czech republic, and without a shed of doubt the most insufferable one.

this

>Why did Russia attack in 2015 to stop the Ukrainian advance on the "separatists" then?
Because propaganda machine overdid it with "Ukranians are nazi" (you could see it even here by yourself, lol) and rebels turned into a national heroes. Their defeat could create bigger blow to Putin's ratings than any economical sanctions of the West. And put "betrayed" nationalists on streets with their newly obtained guns. Kremlin had no control over the situation in the beginning of the war and invasion was a way to obtain it. Strelkov wasn't sent, he went for itself, just like others did. When Kremlin understood what happened it was too late.

Attached: 14178716552180.jpg (1271x952, 241K)

Weird how they shot down a civvie plane with a BUK that was property of the Russian army if it was an "accident". They have denied their presence in Crimea even, and they're denying it in Donbass. Or are they even still? I lose track of Kremlin lies getting shot through.

>Weird how they shot down a civvie plane with a BUK that was property of the Russian army if it was an "accident".
Because they didn't shot down a civvie plane with a BUK that was property of the Russian army, nothing weird here.

Oh man. Too bad both the separatist comms and the international investigation speaks against you then.

Oh, c'mon, they appointed the result before investigation even began. Like story with doping-scandal (when everybody was sure that Evil Russians used Evil doping because news said so until court said that they didn't and main and only witness refused from his claims) or elections (when everybody was sure that Evil Russians used Evil hackers because news said so until FBI investigation said that they didn't) tough you nothing.

Attached: 1487019861765.png (382x491, 96K)

Did you even read the investigation report? Oh sure, no one was doping despite blood tests confirming it for almost every russian athlete. Cute.

Can we just trick Russia to fight China? It will at least it would be better news then Europe shitting the bed again and being fuck by terrorists calling themselves as refugees.

>Did you even read the investigation report?
2018 report wasn't publish, maybe you can post it here.

government.nl/topics/mh17-incident

It isn't even hard to find. Dutch gov keeps an overview of the investigations and political action being taken. Alternatively you can look at the summaries of the main points several agencies made, including the withdrawal route of the BUK.

No the (((EU))) has just been run down while ceeding its last advantges to Israel for free.
