Unfortunately it's true. Germany got a little upset after several shipments ended up in Ukraine and there were Russian separatists running around in Flecktarn flak vests and German issue Kevlar helmets.

I've personally talked to the two biggest US importers as well as one of the biggest exporters in Europe and all have confirmed that fleck is no longer being surplused.

A friend of one of said importers went to jail for 3 years because he sold German kevlar to a third party who was a straw purchaser for the Russian-Ukranians. Germany cracked down and put him and the purchaser in prison.

Granted that was for the kevlar goods not general flecktarn, but it goes to show how much attention Germany is giving this now.

Kommandostore is often above the going rate on stuff, but their customer support is top notch and they have a lot of stuff that other places do not. However, their stuff is always well sorted and labeled (as in sizes and flecktarn variations in particular), they often have certain sizes that are hard to find, and they are an American business. Varusteleka is great but if you aren't a manlet there is a good chance they will be out of stock in your size.

The only issue I have ever had with them was recently when I ordered a pair of the Austrian Pants, but they did not have the size I ordered in stock. After a relatively quick and painless email exchange, it had been sorted out, I had exchanged the pants for some other items and have already been refunded the difference.
