realistically what is handicapping 5.45 so badly? it's still being used by the russians so I assume it's still being produced. Is it all just going to combat zones?

Hey guys I know this isn't the right general for this but please forgive. I found a Norinco Sks preban with sling and spiker bayo for 500 at my lgs. I keep thinking about it and I'm wondering if I'm a fool for wanting one. I already have an Arsenal 7.62,39 and I thought it would be cool to get an norinco for muh Chinese Sks. Fun gun only. Too much $$ /akg/?

No domestic manufacturers. Imports are slowing to a crawl.

oh my

Attached: 15746786868.jpg (600x603, 39K)

But 7.62 isnt really made in the US either right? Wolf, Tula, RAS, GT etc are all imports arent they?

>realistically what is handicapping 5.45 so badly?
People are just mad that their $0.10 7n6 went away.
There's as much as you'd ever want to buy online, and pretty cheap too.

Attached: 20180621_230257~2.jpg (2136x3584, 2.1M)

Hornady, Federal, and Remington all have offerings. And Ruger makes the Mini 30 chambered in it.
Basically, there aren't many rifles that shoot it, and of those that shoot it, almost all of them are AKs. Not a lot of diversity.

I'm wondering why people even buy ammo in store right now. I found some (10) green sealant bulgarian 7.62x39 in a untracked tin for 250 firm the other day. still wondering if it is worth it.

There are no guns available in the US chambered in 5.45 after Obama's sanctions against KC and AoB cancelling their 104fr line. So you're only options are used, kit builds, or NOS 104ur's that no one wants. Ammo is spotty since it comes in batches so you have to buy it cheap and stack it deep if you want a consistent supply.

The one salty user in here will point you to barnaul and tula but neglect to mention that barnaul will be out of stock for months at a time because there's such a lack of demand there's no hurry to get more in the country; while tula is underloaded to an almost criminal degree.

You'd think either 5.56mm AKs would then pick up the slack, or that Zastava would make with a 5.45mm already.

What's the deal with 7.62x54r prices? Is all the surplus gone?

Who's making 5.56 AKs? Arsenal discontinued the 106 before the 104. Zastava was never setup to make 5.45 to the best of my knowledge and it's not a large enough market to tool up for now. They can make 5.56 M95's and M21's tho so I don't know what's stopping them from cornering the market on that.

Yes. There's a war in Ukraine that's using a lot of it.

>I'm wondering why people even buy ammo in store right now.
I just do it to support my local shops when I'm in there.
But I'm cozy with my arsenal now and really don't drool over anything enough to bring me to stores any more.
Besides, it's pretty few and far between they have anything I want now since I already have it most likely.

What said.
Sucks, because I don't shoot my psl nearly as much since I feel like I can't replenish my stash.

Attached: #54r.jpg (1156x936, 638K)

Not to mention Century closed the contract with Zastava to sell their own AK's

But Century's own AKs are fucking dogshit!

Oh yeah. I forgot CAI were being huge kikes about competition for their tRASh47s. So yeah, the AK market in the US is pretty much going to be shit from here on.

I forgot pic related are huge Jews now too.

>inb4 a richfag from Jow Forums starts their own import company
I'd donate my shekels in a heartbeat

Attached: 420niggaabytes.jpg (460x357, 41K)

If someone started bringing in Bulgarian 5.56 mags or Serb 5.56 guns and mags then I would buy a rifle and stack of magazines just on principle to support them.

Unless a better importer forms.
Let's be real, Century has had their run.

wuts the difference between sam and slr?

I think the sam is the milled receiver.

SAM = Milled
SLR = Stamped
This can be a big deal in some states that banned certain patterns of AK rifles, making the only one legal for purchase the SAM

I still think it's funny that they banned by specific model, so you can still buy a vz58 or different caliber of ak in places.
Good thing law makers are dumb as fuck or they'd have shut that door properly.

I'd love to see some more Serbian .223 rifles, if you can get them as low as to be comparable to your typical M&P15 or AR556, I think you can really get your foot in the door, especially if you offer the magwell adapter to people who are doubting.

Of course, you'd also want to offer something that looks a bit more like your typical oldschool AK, as well.

Attached: Zastava M95.jpg (1024x768, 171K)

I don't think good foreign AKs as cheap as entry level ARs are going to happen but $700-800 for a basic M95 and $20 magazines would sell I think if marketed right.

Back when the 106 got cancelled it was because people thought a 5.56 AK was all the negatives of an AR and AK out together but all of the former comblocs that switched to 5.56 AKs and haven't had issues have turned that view into unsubstantiated myth.

>but all of the former comblocs that switched to 5.56 AKs and haven't had issues have turned that view into unsubstantiated myth
Wew
5.56mm and 5.45mm are so similar I can't even see the logic in that. I mean it's almost not even a Coke Vs. Pepsi kind of difference.

I think 5.56mm AKs would be more popular if they came imported with the AR mag conversion
We have so many ARs in the country, owners would feel more comfortable making that transition.

>I can't see the logic of newly admitted NATO countries switching to a NATO caliber

>but $700-800 for a basic M95 and $20 magazines would sell I think if marketed right.
It'd have to come with a sling and bayonet I feel.

Like, the bayonet wouldn't really be that necessary to most people, but say you're offering like a $750~ kind of package, you mention it comes with a sling and a shiny bayonet to put on the muzzle, it might sound like a decent enough deal to make someone go for it.

Lrn2read

No, I mean, I can't see the logic in how it would be a downgrade.
The practical characteristics of a 5.56mm AK and a 5.45mm AK are so similar.

It even goes a little further with the SAM7 being a factory Bulgy gun and the SA M-7 being a US-assembled rifle on a Bulgy 80% receiver and Bulgy parts with a US-made barrel. Not 100% on the barrel, but I'm pretty sure it's US-made.

Yeah, I saw that lol. What a bunch of faggots. How absolutely dare them.

Nice paint job
Gay set up but nice painting

Well the vast majority of Zastava workers officially started strike very shortly after that, and some anons on Jow Forums and Jow Forums rumored a strike coming months ago, so it was probably not worth the hassle

y'all cowards can't even snowflake I'm glad you faggots didn't buy 74s and now I'm on the mic at the range, I got them plums

I looked at some reviews, and the M90P seems surprisingly decent. The magazine adapter looks kind of chintzy, and some complained that it wouldn't drop magazines free (holding on to them tightly), but seeming to go through a bunch of abuse just fine, looking at the AKOU video.

Aw shit.

I dont usualy hang out here but i have an n-pap.
Whats the deal with 5.45? Its dying? Are the ruskies going back to 7.62 or something?

Attached: 1504798679532.gif (499x374, 485K)

Got her number?

5.45 has been "dying" since the 80s.

Knew a girl like that. Horse girls are fucking crazy

Lack of imports. 7.62x39 is safe though. Lots of demand and we have domestic manufacturers.

I just want to spend money on a 7.62x39 AK with historical value reeeeeee

>Horse girls are fucking crazy

Does anyone make or is in the process of making a 9x39mm AK kit? Or would say a 7.62 kit with a new barrel and mag work?

Converted saiga 1400$, no low balls, I know wut I got.

Should AK's be classic or mallninja?

>5.45 is dead

Tula is fucking garbage but WOLF is okay.
Silver bear is so pretty and i love it a lot.
RAS sounds memey.

New ras is repackaged gt. Old ras is plinking ammo at best. 3-4 moa reports are common but the few gel tests show violent tumbling so it’s not worthless.

Classic

>New ras is repackaged gt
No, its not. There's one loading of GT sold as RAS and it's the 124gr 7.62x39.

Tantals are so deliciously aesthetic

Vympel 5.45 RAS was supposed to be "released" last month but I have yet to see it pop up anywhere.

isnt that just golden tiger?

Not even old enough to grow an operator beard. Why does this make me feel?

I got one of both. I hate to say the tacticool one feels better. While the classic is pure asthetic

That’s the current import. The older loads were made in the Ukraine and are no longer available.

From what I gather vympnel is still digging themselves out of a hole.

Attached: area of operation-1.jpg (3423x4842, 3.92M)

5.45 is only dead to poorfags get raped

i like that bayo lug flashlight
>wut is it

Fucking Arsenal teased us about SLR107F's, then said, 'oh no those will never come in... please check out our gunjoker page for interesting items we found in the warehouse'

The "logic" that I kept hearing was that a huge part of the reliability of the AK was the heavy taper on the 7.62x39 and 5.45x39 cases. So putting a relatively straight walled cartridge took away from the reliability of the AK while adding nothing to it.

I personally thought it was BS but a lot of people told me that's why they didn't buy 5.56 AKs around 2010-2014 time frame.

No paint. Just a meme filter.

Attached: SLR107(6).jpg (1920x1080, 776K)

according to SG, vympel bet big on shillary winning the election and poured all their manufacturing into 7.62x39, and are currently in a hole right now as no one is buying ammo.

Also, I got some of the new wolf 5.45 from SG, it seems like quality stuff. Lacquered case, sealed primer and bullet. Smells kind of like brown sugar when you shoot it

Golden Tiger is imported Vympel factory ammo. SGammo was the only source for 5.45 GT and he hasn't ordered more so people are sitting around waiting for century to start selling it as RAS.

Zenit gooseneck mount. B-9 or something.
That's just Jim being a Jew and trying to get people to buy more GT 7.62.

>The "logic" that I kept hearing was that a huge part of the reliability of the AK was the heavy taper on the 7.62x39 and 5.45x39 cases. So putting a relatively straight walled cartridge took away from the reliability of the AK while adding nothing to it.
false, the AK's reliability stems from the fucking massive amount of gas that causes the bcg to go flying backward and smash into the back of the receiver. they are ridiculously overgassed
