machine guns weren't that common before 1986
they have no practical utility besides giggles at the range
they're not even useful in self defense situations since you'll lose all your ammo in 3 seconds
not even criminals used machine guns..... since 1934, only 3 people have been killed by legal machine guns

I see SBRs posted on here all the fucking time.

If it weren't for the Hughes amendment THOSE WOULD ALL BE MGs BECAUSE WHY THE FUCK NOT?!?

Omg fucking fudds make my blood boil.

Also a suppressed 9mm mg pistol is about the best home defense you can have so go fuck yourself.

Your a failure

Because volume of fire is important in the military.
Although you have a point because most soldiers are trained to fire semi auto 99% of the time.

>mfw watching the video of the vote

A 9mm sub gun with a reasonable rate of fire, a red dot, and a flashlight would be the best all around home/property defense weapon.

Fudd.

Attached: unacceptable.jpg (640x640, 85K)

Meh, a shotgun would probably be better for most situations except structure clearing or decibel levels. Aiming and pulling the trigger once takes a lot less time and skill than hosing somebody down whilst staying on target while achieving a comparable end effect of putting a bunch of little holes in somebody. Not to mention prosecutors really have a hate boner for people using FA in self defense, they just about always at least end up in front of a grand jury. That being said that guy is totally a fudd and i want the choice anyways.

>t. somebody with a semi auto subgun for HD.

Aiming and pulling the trigger and missing will matter a lot more with a shotgun than a subgun. The spread is actually pretty small at across the room distances and the recoil of (presumably) a 12 gauge will throw off your aim. A heavy 9mm subgun with a slow-ish ROF can be walked onto a target even if you initially miss. It's a decent advantage.

As for the prosecution, I understand the Massad Ayoob argument but I'm not a fan. It's an argument that assumes you'll be able to survive the fight and see your day in court even if you've intentionally handicapped yourself. It's an argument that puts the cart (legal jeopardy) before the horse(actually living).

All that being said I don't live in a place that requires active defense like that. I don't keep any weapons loaded. But if I lived somewhere like a rural South African farm I know what type of weapon I'd have under my bed.

Which is why the have no reason to be regulated you fucking retard. You've proven the point already that the law is beyond stupid. Fuck you, fuck your Fudd opinion, and your fucking registry.

I'll follow up with
>weren't that common before 1986
This shit doesn't even make sense. That haven't been legal to make since 86, how the fuck would they have become common since then? That's what your sentence implies.

More importantly though, your retard ass is denying the existence of the 175k+ registered MGs in the US. Not that common my ass. Fuck you.

How’s that boot taste?

The Hughes Amendment was a poison pill slipped into Firearm Owners Protection Act by the democrats in the hope it would stop it from passing. It officially closed the US machine gun registry disallowing the creation or importation of new select fire or full auto firearms.

But, the FOPA also forbade a Federal Gun Registry. Sounds like the NRA and Republicans compromised. I don't know about you, but I would rather gove up the idea of owning a full auto than giving the government what they need to confiscate our guns.

Complying?

Attached: 1518238846975.gif (202x360, 1.84M)

>machine guns weren't that common before 1986
No NFA firearms were, because people didn't know about them. Before the internet, it took an actual effort to research the law and no what it said; if the guys at the gun shop say
>you have to have a Class 3 Weapons License for each machine gun
>this license gives ATF the right to enter your home any time, night or day, as often as they like
and so on... would you find it worth researching the law? Or just figure that's too much hassle, and forget about it?

The web in general, and (as much as I hate to admit it) arfcom in particular, caused an amazing increase in knowledge about the NFA, and thus an increase in the number of people who choose to own NFA firearms. Unfortunately, the Hughes Amendment got there first for MGs, so it's all SBRs and silencers.

This. So much this.

That's an argument against regulating it. You do understand that, right?

Attached: zILO1lM.png (1164x511, 252K)

Even the ATF whitepaper talked about the newfound prevalence of SBRs and how they should be treated less strictly than before. SBRs being a tax stamp is retarded, just like silencers.

If I wanted to be "compromising", I would like at SBRs and silencers totally removed from the NFA, with automatic weapons simply getting the Hughes amendment removed and allowed to be registered once more.
