what do?

Wear a brace until it gets better, then if no issues, join, if there are, say a bike swiped you and you need to delay your ship date.

What opportunities would be available to one with a BSN within the Army? If that's too vague; maybe something relating to the actual RASP Rangers.

You could come in as an nurse officer, get airborne and air assault and become a flight nurse. Then apply for rasp or whatever you want and go to regiment. Although you would probably see more shit in a regular line unit(im talking medical).

Or if you want to kick doors, go 18x. Dont go 68w op40, you will feel like complete shit that you wasted your years getting a BSN to become a medical assistant.

I'd like to actually experience things if I enlisted, if I wanted to be a flight nurse or something similar I wouldn't join at all, so 18x-ray is my best bet?

Yup 18x.

Curious, why wouldnt you want to be a flight nurse?

Should I join the army reserve (US) as a drill sergeant? I got out as an e5 a few years ago.

I'm not completely against it but it's never piqued my interest. I've always had interest in the military and was going to enlist before going to college but was talked out of it. I love the nursing field and can't stand the thought of letting my opportunity to enlist pass me by and settle for nursing alone; so I thought why not try and combine the two and do what I like and am good at while being a door kicker if its possible. I hope I don't sound deluded, I just don't want to have regrets lingering over me for rest of my days.

Sure, if you really want to become a DS. Otherwise, no.

Alrighty, then go 18x, just make sure to prepare for it before you sign up. Like i said, dont bother with 68W unless you want to end up as a medical assistant your first 3 years.

Alternatively, go navy as SARC. They are essentially the medics for recon and marsoc and get sent to all the same schools and training the marines do, but as a navy corpsman.

Airforce have PJs as well.

Funny thing is I was gonna enlist in the Navy as a Corpsman but after doing some research it's not guaranteed that one will go green-side their first duty station or deployment (I'm not too savvy on the lingo anymore) and if you do get it you can't stay green-side. This was the major downside to me.

I'll probably stick around for the next few /meg/ threads and ask questions. You've been immensely helpful so I trust the information. Thanks user

I could see it getting old although I would probably enjoy it. That's basically all the recruiter (friend of family) offered me to stay in my area, since I want another combat arms job. I should ask if he could get me a recruiter spot but not sure if it works like that.

I have a previous diagnosis of depression from when I was a kid, and I want to enlist. How fucked am I if I lie about it at MEPS?

You know if you take a DS position you will be sent to a tradoc base to be a DS right? Just because you are in a reserve unit doesnt mean you wont be sent to other bases for extended TDY. If you can get a recruiter slot, take it. Also why do you need the reserve unit to be in your town? Unless you are in california where you possibly have to drive 6 hours to get to a random unit, a 1-3 hour drive once a month to have the MOS you want isnt a bad idea.

Have you checked National Guard options?

Not at all, literally everybody lies about it. Dont crack at the moment of truth.

Dont say shit, and shit wont happen.

I've been through them with recruiters and /meg/ a couple months ago, I am the user always asking about 13f NG, and TACP ANG. Just checking in with a recent wild hair growing inside my anus.

Alright. Thanks, guys.

iirc, if you live much further away than a 3 hour drive I think the reserves will reimburse you up to $300 to travel to training.
So you could travel by plane to your monthly training.

What can I expect from 12B OSUT? I’m the Nasty Girl from the previous thread.

350F here. Just got an email for a tentative job offer pending background check for a GS7 airforce job. It was one of those submit an application into a pool type deals like 2-3 years ago. I sent an email back saying, nope cant take it, im a GS11 now, thanks anyways. The absolute state of the airforce to send a job offer 2 years later, without an interview. 42K a year intel specialist over in Charleston, SC.

How likely is it that I'll get caught lying about being diagnosed with ADD when applying to the airforce? Will they see my past prescriptions? I went off my meds then my grades went to shit, a recruiter said they'd probably look at my grades after I went off my meds and I'd probably need all A's.

Why did you tell your recruiter you were on ADD meds?

But also, no youre good to go. Dont say shit. You might have fucked yourself by telling the recruiter, but probably not, so go for it bro.

Would you ever go FS, maybe as a political officer? I'm not sure if the INR staffs with FSS or FSO though.

I just dropped by a recruitment place to ask , then emailed later to ask another question. Doubt anyone remembers me, I'm not on file anywhere

Is Navy CTN a good choice for a semi-autist who wants to work with computers?

FS, like foreign service officer? No, and only because I dont want to live overseas. Im over my adventure the globe phase. When I was enlisted and up until my wife and I had our son, we were traveling all over the world at least 2-3 times a year, doing spontaneous trips.

I could work for state for INR like you said, but its a real shit hole. Their duties, state side, are above and beyond the paygrade and position duties compared to DoD. Plus I would have to be subject matter expert on a specific country, and Im more of a technical side of intelligence kind of guy, as in how intelligence is collected and diseminated works in the big scheme of things.

Right now, im just gonna ride out the reserves until they kick me out when im 50 and a CW5 lol. When my kid hits 18 and I con his ass into VMI, I might consider working either pentagon as a security directorship, NGIC as an instructor, or maybe ill say fuck it and go MDSO for CIA, but I doubt the wife would approve of the massive pay cut and dicking around with my civ retirement.

Then youre good. Just go sign up and never mention it ever again no matter how much they threaten you to tell the truth.

So on the State side of intel it's basically people having to do things way, way above their paygrade? Which is to say that it's not so good for a guy who's already established, but it would be a good fit for someone up and coming and looking to get into something above their paygrade?

Ehhhhhhh so so. It depends.

So for an up and comer, definitely its good to go. Youll be doing shit above your paygrade usually, which is good for dudes who want to transfer out to something better in another agency or organization. But its also bad because youre not getting paid for the amount of work your tasked with, compared to other organizations. State is a very active position, shits always going down, there will hardly ever be any downtime. Yes its a prestigious job and your doing some good shit. But quality of life is not as great as at other places. Thats usually not a factor if youre young, but when youre getting on in years like me in my 30s with the body of a 50 year old from a decade of military service, I care more for quality of life over what im actually doing.

I will add that yes getting in the intelligence field is good. Step one is to always get your foot in the door. But im not gonna lie to you and say that doing intelligence for state is any better than doing intelligence for DoD, IRS, LOC, NOAA, NASA, whatever. They all dip their toes into different fields of intelligence, but the jobs are essentially the same. For example, I could work at Library as a security assistant GS7 making 46k a year doing minimal work on a 4 day schedule, or I could be the exact same job title, pay, and grade, working for DHS having a very active job where I constantly get called in for shit. They are both the same job, title, and pay, so what makes one better than the other? Prestige? Bragging rights that you work harder than the counterpart? When you get older you start thinking about these things. But youre young, so do everything.

Off topic sort of, I had a peer at another office who was a GS7 doing the same shit as my job, GS11. I helped him write up a memo and request for a classification and position upgrade for his office to change his job title and GS paygrade to reflect his actual duties and position.

That or Army 25b, 35t, or 17c.

Any solid torrents for a ASVAB study guide? I want to retake it since I didn't give a fuck back in HS, and I want to prepare.

Interesting. So at a certain point it all becomes basically the same job wherever you work, and the main question becomes about what's now secondary like prestige, quality of life, etc?

What's a single scope background check consist of? Should I worry about anything?

Go 17C. You gotta deal with Army bullshit but imo the training is better. JCAC is honestly a pretty uninteresting course by itself and the stuff at Fort Gordon is much cooler / more fun. Airforce also has some cool shit but that's non entry level right now.

If going army, go 17c or 35t to actually do shit. 25B are glorified it help desk.

Im saying its all the same job at all levels lol. Just different tasks. But at upper levels, it really is the exact same shit but a different office. I dont understand the last part about whats secondary since you put quality of life, which imo is top priority. Btw im talking GS jobs only, because the jobs criss cross apple sauce. You can be a fucking finance assistant gs5 at irs and lat transfer to DoD as a gs5 or gs7 intel assistant. Government jobs are like that. I forget my point now lmao.

wanted to look into the air national guard but the closest AFB of theirs is a 1 1/2 hour drive away, should I even bother?

Attached: Air National Guard.png (712x720, 175K)

Or just spend the 20 bucks for it. Its only your future, whatever thats worth.

How do I combine my experience in offensive cybersecurity (hacking into shit) and my interest in SOF and intel? I'm genuinely curious here. I don't even think the most spooky of spooky units have any positions like this as most of the cyb guys I know are slightly weird and/or skinny fat and the few SOF guys I've met would find sitting in front of a computer boring AF.

K but please explain what utility a hacker would have with sof. You can work for jsoc or specific units but you're essentially going to do the same. And you're not gonna use kali

What is Security Forces like in Air Force?

Attached: ANG Security Forces K9.jpg (400x604, 103K)

They check legal, financials, and personally interview whomever references you give them.

Its only 1 weekend a month, not like youre gonna be commuting everyday lmao.

Easy, dont directly go for a job in cyber, but go for a job where your cyber knowledge will benefit. For example, you could go 35L as a counter intel agent, and when computer related issues occur, you would know wtf the17c and 35t are trying to tell you. Same if you go 18x, youll know wtf those guys are trying to tell you, and you would know how to handle the hardware of anything you guys grab.

Lol we use plain Debian most of the time at my company. Also, I think with the expansion of hybrid warfare with actors Iran using not only Quds Force to conduct covert action and support militias but also using APTs to damage Saudi defense systems and steal valuable information, an SME in cybersecurity could help on more independent SOF teams like ODAs and TFO teams. Russia has the also done the same shit in Ukraine, utilizing their own SOF to train and advise Russian separatists, while also using their APTs to try to dismantle Ukrainian infrastructure. I don't think Delta needs a hacker when they're kicking down some door, but a hacker on a team on TFO could help, especially in planting malware onto secure and compartmentalized systems (ie. Stuxnet on steroids) that can't be accessed from some office in Meade.

My national guard base is 4 hours away. Don't be a bitch. Consider Army National Guard too.

Lol I'm enlisting into a unit that's three states away. Just fucking make the drive man. I use to drive that distance to see my high school girlfriend.

35G here hating the MICO life. I here contracting is all about who you know (I know you're GS but I'm sure you know info), and I ready want to get the fuck out and do my job. I know I should re-up and go to a better unit, really want to do shit with air-breathers. I'll have my 5 by then, you don't happen to know any good southcom units do you?

Dont do it.

Hope to be in the 31st, also eat plenty of c4

What exactly do you want to do? And what state do you prefer to live in?

I know you said you dont want to reup, but if your ets is within the next year or so, i really do recommend reclassing into something like 35L if you need a break from army bullshit and some fresh air, the bonuses are actually good for reenlistments this year. Or at least consider switching to reserves and moving up and along in whatever. But hey, if youre done, youre done, nothing wrong with that.

Now, when you say contracting do you actually mean contracting? Like a tenporary job position type deal? Because if youre getting out for sure, and not looking for a full time job, youre gonna be lacking some key benefits like retirement, healthcare, etc. And idk if you would want to go on a contractor job for short term high pay and no job security, when you can go full time and get everything for decent pay. You will probably qualify for GS7-9 depending on what work exp you have. Which is easily 42-60k starting, with full benefits.

First for marines, because them crayons are nice and warm this time of year

They must be since youre like post number 54 and not first.

56th tard

Thank god you can count. Looks like you dont have complete brain damage.

First to mention marines though :^)

Cont
OPM must have new employees and making them contact everyone to clear their piles, because i just got 3 more emails for jobs i applied for 1-2 years back. So in total I got, airforce, DHS, architect of the capitol, and treasury. Lmao i forgot about the architect one, im looking at the old job posting and its a gs7-gs14 ascencion type program. Lmao might give them a call just to see if they will give me the gs14 instead of the low shit i applied for. 143k a year to run a scif filled with blue prints, fuckin hell yeah who wouldnt.

I go to infantry OSUT Ft Benning on July 31. What am I in for?

>I go to infantry OSUT Ft Benning on July 31. What am I in for?
21 weeks of shit instead of 14 weeks for starters.

Pilot program where you get more range days.

Different guy signing up for the same thing in a couple months. This is interesting- is it gonna be 21 weeks for everyone here on out, or just for a couple cycles to test its effectiveness? Not really worried about the extension but I’m just wondering if i were to go to OSUT in say, December, if this would apply to me as well.

Wrong organization this ain't Splinter cell my man

Yea so basically my goal will be then to form Third Echelon. Sounds gucci

Pilott program, so ya its a temporary test for probably 5 cycles.

Funny enough even third echelon is part of the wrong agency

>Implying that the NSA isn't secretly running Vin Diesel as their greatest asset

You're saying that the agency that gets a large amount of its recruits from math competitions isn't the best organization to form a ninja black ops group?

Well when you put it like that

350f user can you throw some of those my way? Been waiting for a response from like 20 jobs i applied for, for almost 3 months without a peep.

Dont wanna fuck up picking my branch for the reserves, considering signing with Air Nasty Girls as an STO, or NG for SF (might as well, I regret not being all I can be when I was Active)

Attached: 070731-F-9999X-001.jpg (335x340, 21K)

Its not. Yes they get to talk with cool dudes, but are they cool dudes themselves? No.

So you were an 11A? Why havnt you gone to ranger school or done rasp if you were so bored? Why dont you try going for SFAB? They actually do shit and are gonna play a much bigger part. SFAB team leaders are 11A/19A, so that says something about what they are gonna be doing. Check out link below to see how they are setting up units.

soldiersystems.net/2018/05/29/sfab-company-advising-team/

But ya, if you are gonna try SF, go NG for it.

If you want to be high speed, go NG SF. You get frequent deployments and better opportunities for schools than most enlisted guys. You do have to obviously go through the same pipeline AD guys go though and it's not a weekend a month type thing.

Alright my niggers, I just reserved my 4 year contract as a 42A, basic and ait at Jackson. What can I expect from this mos besides the shitty online descriptions and YouTube vids?

I want to join the AF but I'm extremely out of shape. Currently I'm 250 pounds, 5'11 in height. Lost 20 pounds in 6 weeks already but I have a long way to go.

1 1/2 mile run in 20 min
10 pushups in 1 min (I do it fast but them I run out of steam)
15 situps in 1 min

I'm going to see the recruiter this week. Should I go now or wait until I'm in shape? Any tips or something I should be doing?

>ranger school or done rasp

After IBOLC they were in a rush to send us to our units, for some reason so the rest of us who cant do 49 push ups the first go around was immediately given orders once we came back from Darby. I wouldve done RASP or SF except two things;

1) In my BN you have to be GOOD AF to even get considered
2) It will tie me to AD for 3 more years, which (at the time), I was not sure if I wanted
3) I want to get my Masters (dat GI Bill BAH) and GTFO of shithole towns
4) I was afraid of failure (big mistake) didnt think I could do it up until the end of my short lived career did I realize how far I've come since joining and I would probably have been fine

Yes, I heard of SFAB, IDK if they have a reserve component for it, but they did setup that unit in Benning when I was OSUT XO.

I would do SF, its not like I have anything going on right now so going AD orders for SF purposes does not sound bad. I just dont know the fate of those who cant cut it, I will be left drilling in Florida for the rest of my days.

Attached: 1369683851947.jpg (2232x2157, 1.36M)

Why the fuck would you do that. Like I get not everyone has to go SF or Regiment but why the fuck would you think that was a good idea?

>I'm going to see the recruiter this week. Should I go now or wait until I'm in shape?
wait, seriously wait. Youre too fat atm to be worth their time.
>Any tips or something I should be doing?
Frist off stop running. Youre too fat to run. Literally just go walk. Far easier on your joints. Also do Keto+Fasting. Literally best way to lose weight.

>42A
"How not to rape" powerpoints

>Its not. Yes they get to talk with cool dudes, but are they cool dudes themselves? No.

Also, do they at least get to go where cool dudes go? I am betting just hanging with them will kinda make you cool. You are after all, the average of the 5 people you hangout with the most.

Plus getting deployed with SF dudes to exotic locations dont sound bad all.

Attached: 1372443537682.jpg (1229x1382, 451K)

never hurts to go to a recruiter, even if you're boogie-tier. If you work your way into shape while still being in touch it only looks better.
sidenote: i saw the fattest male airman i've ever seen today. what's crazy is i saw him as an a1c and now he's a sra and easily 250 himself. the dude has had to buy some fat fucking cammies since I last saw him it was insane.

I have a poly-sci degree and I want to join NG and then go to grad school.

Which would be better for a non-mil career: 35F or 46Q with an immediate promotion to E5? I see applicability for both.

>poly-sci degree
When you mean non-mil, do you mean non-gov as well?

well two conflicting opinions atm 1-1

>4 years
>42A
Jesus christ user are you in a world of disappointment.

Now that the berating is done, ill give you the info about the job.

So essentially you are going to work in an S1 which is a battalion level human resources office, processing all types of clerical stuff, like awards, updating records, alot of filing and such for personnel, OR you will be assigned to a company Orderly room and handle that companies personnel files, training paperwork, leave paperwork, sort of like a front desk type job answering phone calls and such.

My advice is to push for as much extra training and schools as you can get. For example CLS and combatives certification, various vehicle licenses, BLC, airborne, rasp, whatever. You could probably get rasp if you apply for it at AIT if that interests you. At least with this job you will know how everything works, how to file all the paperwork that people fuck up, army cheat codes like taking a 4 day pass every month instead of using leave days, etc.

Sorry theres not much else I can tell you about the job, thats literally all there is to it. Ill warn you ahead of time that the majority of 42A are black and female, and mostly the ghetto types that have a record and couldnt get a clearance to get a better job. Pro to this job, is that its easy as fuck and the hours are literally whatever. PRO TIP, if you dont feel like working, just say, do you have an appointment? or say, sorry its a training day the office is closed.

Dude, wait until you get in shape before you go. If you go now, they are either gonna say youre too fat go home, or they are gonna start paperwork and then next thing you know youre heading to basic in a week and fail out of there for being out of shape.
