Soviet tanks look so low quality whenever you see them. Why is that?

I'll always hear that flying car noise from The Jetsons when I see it.

It's cool how this first prototype made almost 900 flights without accident and is kept on display to this day

It honestly might be personal bias man. I love American tanks, and its western counterparts but you gotta realize the T-54's time equivalent counterpart was the M46 and if I were an M46 tanker I would be pretty worried about the T-54.

Yes, and this is the bush it was lost behind.

I know it's a prototype but it is looks so wrong.

Are dense you spastic? It still looks low quality, shitty welds and the metal for the hull looks uneven and rough.

>"The weapon comes with a cluster of 3 barrels that change over when overheated leaving the previously lined up barrel to cool off. This is not a rotary weapon like a Minigun, although it appears to be one externally."
How incredibly German, Other then barrel erosion I don't see how this is worth the complexity and weight comprehended to a water cooled barrel.

Also why don't any rotary barreled weapons have tight barrel arrangements like this gun? It seems like a far more efficient use of space and material.
I've seen someone ask a similar question but they had the barrels so close together they merged at the edges so the reason for not doing that was asymmetric heating causing deformation of the barrles.

Huge waste of money

They used rough cast turret sections and a crudely welded hull, sure, whereas American and British tanks used high quality castings of almost the entire hull up until modern MBTs - still doesn't mean that the T-54 wasn't a vastly superior tank for the period, unfortunately.

Then again they made something like 50000 of the fucking things or more as compared to production runs in thousands for most American medium/early MBTs - you'd expect rougher production tolerances.

Yeah I could see it in a fallout game, hell it wouldn't even stick out compared to all the other crazy shit they have

They recently added the XM1 to warthunder which is kinda neat I guess.

I dont think the project ended.

I still think this is one of the coolest looking choppers ever.

My uncle was in charge of this project, and he is still slightly salty that it got canceled.

Now that CVN-65 is decommissioned, they can name the next one Enterprise and transfer Zumwalt's CO over...

What are some spoopy current projects we know of, if any? The boeing quiet bird has piqued my interest in spookshit

DARPA just recently got green lit to test and design underwater drone swarms.

ZUMA

That's pretty neat, do we have any deets on it outside of it being super under wraps?

What could have been...

A lot of the tech probably went into the Stealth Hawks we used for Neptune Spear, but honestly just the concept of a stealth attack/recon heli has a ton of huge flaws. Keep in mind that stealth aircraft of the time like the B-2 and F117 required very special maintenance to operate, which had the benefit of being far away from serious combat thanks to the range of the aircraft.
