Gonna go shoot my Winchester 95 that was used by pic related tomorrow. Apparently the British Navy bought 5000 in 1915 for shooting at U-boats.

Attached: 869729C7-0973-48E6-B56E-9E540509FE04.jpg (960x719, 119K)

Fuck I meant Winchester 1894 not 95.

I spy new pics, I like them. Did new ones today as well. I have a Turk'd G.88 coming that'll be on here when I get it

Attached: 0627181647-1.jpg (3446x1451, 1.33M)

I've been thinking about taking them again on a sunny day to make the wood grain pop more.

Attached: IMG_20180408_155958.jpg (1288x966, 423K)

Is $365 (including shipping and transfer fee) a good deal on a M48 with an excellent bore?

Attached: IMG_3991.jpg (750x731, 62K)

Go for it, either way, it's nice to see new pics, even if they're the same guns.

Attached: 0627181644-1.jpg (3779x1323, 1.28M)

I'd do it, that's not bad at all

Attached: 0627181645-1.jpg (3446x1451, 1.32M)

Yes, that's pretty good these days.

Milsurp novice here. I have a Walther P38 that I just want to clean. No not reblue or fucking scrub vigorously with steel wool. I just look at it and think "wow I wish I could take some gun oil and just wipe you down a bit." Would that ruin it?

No, that would not ruin it.

But is it something advised against?

Oil your guns you idiot.

Not too much, mind, if they look wet it's just going to attract dirt and hair and shit, but wiping them down a little is always a good idea, especially if you've been touching them a lot.

Cleaning a gun is not a bad thing. Scrubbing the finish off by being overzealous with abrasive materials or caustic cleaners, is. Some soap and water with a toothbrush, followed by a blast of air from a compressor or air can and some WD40, regular gun oil and a wipe down works well for me. It's kinda involved, but it's gentle on a gun and dissolves dirt and stuff well.

Do Turkish Contract Winchester 1866s actually exist or is it myth?

>WD40
That destroys gun finishes

Thanks, it's kinda sad to hear that that's a good deal these days.

Attached: IMG_3063.jpg (1192x830, 171K)

>you idiot
Ouch my feelings. Thanks for the reassurance though pal

If C&Rsenal is to be believed, yes. I haven't seen one, I could imagine them being stock factory 1866 musket models simply sold to Turkey, as opposed to a contract made just for them. This is just my educated guess though.

Attached: 0627181635-1.jpg (3417x1463, 1.12M)

That's totally news to me. I like using it after I've used water to clean any parts or the bore.

I can't wait for my M95M to get here, honestly still can't believe that I found one. Checked GB on a whim and there were fuckin 3 for sale last week.

Are surplus ammo cans worth restoring, and what are the best ways to restore one if they are?
>go visit local surplus store
>ammo cans for $10 each, cheaper than online all things considered
>buy 5 good ones
They're nice but they all have that...look. I wanted to breath some new life into them and keep them permanently for storage since I'm autistic and I like things looking as new and clean as I can, but I'm wondering if it's worth it at all.

I was thinking of sanding them down a bit, get some of the rust off, repainting them, etc. but is it even worth it to have a couple of pretty metal boxes? All I'm going to do is give them a nice clean paint job anyway but I can't be the only one whose ever felt this way right?

Attached: TukAmmoCan.jpg (1000x750, 133K)

I picked up this Lebel R35 a couple days ago. A St. Etienne make, Chatellerault rebarrelled in 1938. It's probably the most pristine example I've ever seen. Bore, finish, action; all in great condition. Trigger is light and crisp. Only caveat is the mismatched bolt, but I can deal with that.

And after shooting it today, it's jumped up to one of the top 5 rifles in my collection. If only 8x50 Lebel were as cheap as other milsurp calibers though...

Congrats! I was staring at one pretty hard a couple months ago on GB but ultimately decided against it since I've already got an M95/30 and other guns I wanted to buy. Please do post pics when you get it!

I'd say it'd be a neat project. Just make sure they're not some weirdly rare type of can though. I got a buddy that's into rare and obscure ammo cans and he would spend a lot of money to get them. But then again, these're your cans so do what you want with em.

>all matching k11 long boi for sale

what's a good price lads? would make a nice addition to my k31.

Attached: 1403990045739.jpg (643x439, 45K)

>k11
A five foot rifle is hardly a carbine. You mean Gewehr 11. The idiots at classic call them all with K prefixes, but you shouldn't

Does anyone know where I can find 7.7 Jap?

Attached: IMG_20180619_154440.jpg (2976x3968, 2.04M)

Either online for a gorillion dollars, or you must begin reloading.

glad we got that all cleared up but what's a good price?

There is literally one company that makes factory ammo and it's retarded expensive. I would buy a couple of boxes and then reload the brass after you shoot it, IIRC it takes standard .303 bullets.

>tfw moving in around 1-2 months
>no more tree pictures.
I don't know what I'll do guys, I'll have to come up with a new background.

Attached: M91-30 (1943) pig sticker.jpg (3500x937, 1.68M)

Take the tree with :^)

Attached: IMG_20180408_155856.jpg (4048x3036, 2.49M)

I would love too, but it's a big tree.

Attached: A fucking tree.jpg (2000x3000, 3.88M)

They're going for 500 and up now, so I'd say anyway you can bargain yourself into paying 400 or less would be a rather nice price.

For you.

If you can get any surp for under $200 it's probably going to be a good deal (unless it's been through bubba's hacksaw).

Attached: Turk M38 Crest.jpg (2000x3000, 1.21M)

>I picked up this Lebel R35 a couple days ago.
Too much want! What's with the Swiss sling on it though?

Attached: IMG_0685.jpg (1579x497, 548K)

Probably retarded fudd. My G88 had a SKS sling on it when I got it.

Attached: Gew-88-05-35.jpg (1996x619, 675K)

I was referring to G11 rifles though, which have jumped in price big time in the last two years...I guess everything has, but they're up 200 from where they were when I got mine. But you're right, sub 200 is a steal. Hell, I felt like I got off lucky when I won pic related for 275, which is in really damn good shape with the bore and bolt looking new.

Attached: Capture+_2018-06-23-09-03-09.png (720x1199, 181K)

Bore on the Turk G.88

Unless you move to a genuinely ugly place, you'll still be able to find a pretty spot for pics.

Attached: Capture+_2018-06-23-23-02-37-1.png (720x996, 555K)

Naw, I'm just a dumb nerd that loves the feel and quality of Swiss leather slings I ended up buying one for all my rifles that can take a sling. Not to mention they're cheap as fuck compared to a lot of other quality leather slings.

Attached: R35range.jpg (1920x1080, 456K)

I got mine late 2016 for $225, but I just got this M38 for $150 last week. I couldn't pass it up.

Attached: Turk M38 profile.jpg (3000x799, 1.14M)

That's a damn good deal. This will be my third Turk in my collection now, so it's almost starting to make sense to begin specializing in Turk rifles. That and I have a soft spot for them because my first surp was an 1893.

Attached: 0627181640-1.jpg (3849x1299, 1.26M)

How would one strip and reblue a rifle?
I bought a shitty as is brazilian (spanish) mauser that Im trying to clean up.
The gun was completely blackened.
The wood is in pretty good shape after washing off the black crud but metal had a lot of rust and pitting
Soaked it in vineger and pretty much stripped nearly all of the bluing off and now it's rusting again, but just surface rust now. (this is my first attempt at restoring, no bully)
What's the best way to completely strip the bluing and how to reblue?

Where's a good place to get slings, bayos, and other surplus gun accessories?

Who else here baby pinger?

I'm getting very weak ejection, yesterday I had about 20 stoppages in 35 rounds because of it.

Attached: USA - M1 carbine.jpg (2560x1440, 1.11M)

>How would one strip and reblue a rifle?
That's a major gray zone. If I had to recommend anything, it'd probably be to scrub any rust off even if it means getting down to the white, and keeping it oiled from there. It can form a patina easily from that state, whereas re bluing will basically be turning the clock back on your rifle.
It's your property, and I have a fairly liberal definition into what I'd call bubba, so I say restore it if that's what you want..so long as you try to stick to factory spec, or something that looks close enough to it.

Your call though. You might get flak here for it, but it's your gun you have to live with, not theirs.

Does this work?

Attached: ww2wall.jpg (4032x2113, 1.39M)

Not really trying to restore it to spec. It aint that special.
Just trying to keep it from rusting now.
It's already mostly in the white, just need to get it completely in the white and then reblue it or some type of protective coating.

If you don't mind the looks of it being in the white, you can keep it safe in that state as long as you oil it. Maybe you live in a really humid place? I live in the upper Midwest and it's dann humid during the summer, and my 1893 hasn't had any issues. And that's almost completely white

Is an Eddystone 1917 a good place to start with milsurp? I've found one locally for about 500 syrupbucks. Not sure if that's a decent price.

Im in ga which is normally humid but its been particularly more humid then usual. It started rusting in my safe, which has a golden rod in it. its the only gun thats rusting. Guess I need to put more oil on it. Something that wont evaporate or drip off as quickly.
What oil do yall suggest for storage? The rest of my guns are fine with just CLP but this one will need something else.
>not cosmoline

Store wants 775 for this Gewehr 98
Too much?

You should have asked what to do before soaking the rifle in vinegar. That removes bluing. You could have saved the actual finish.

There is no one place to buy accessories. You have to look around and a lot of those accessories are impossible to find and when they are found they are often pricey. I just sold a the waist belt for a Type 14 Nambu for $200 shipped and I could have probably gotten a lot more on fleabay.

Attached: IMG_3364.jpg (1510x908, 369K)

It looks nice and correct. Is it matching?

I might use grease.

If it’s not sporterized that’s a fucking steal for Canadian pricing. Buy it or tell me where to buy it. If it’s a sporter you shouldn’t pay more than $250.

I forgot to check but I think so

I think it's a good price. As usual I would try to talk them down a little bit.

>Too much?
Not if serials are matching.

>Krag arrived at FFL today
>FFL closes at 5
>Stuck in meeting that has literally no connection to me until 5:15
there's always tomorrow :^)

I saw a sporterized Serbian Model 1910 in a gun shop today. Also one of those .30-30WCF-conversion Swiss Gew.89s.

Do you guys ever just take a moment and just look at and admire some of your pieces? Like even some of the rifles I have that I don't really shoot that much anymore I still take a moment every now and then.

All the damn time.

Yeah.

Attached: war_rack_2-23-2017.jpg (1280x960, 608K)

Fucking rad. Shortstack lebels are beautiful. If only their capacities weren't potato tier.
>I wish 8x50 was cheaper
I know that feel.

Attached: longbois.jpg (980x1306, 314K)

Yeah, but then I think “fuck, I have all these guns I don’t shoot. I could sell them and buy more ammo for guns I do shoot.” And then I sell one.

>selling your belongings
>ever
I bet you sell old phones and old videogames too.

My current milsurp collection, what do you guys think?

>he doesn’t sell guns
Lmao

Good variety, very nice

>SMLE Mk.I
Lawdy.

>one of those .30-30WCF-conversion Swiss Gew.89s.

Where find

Attached: 1527392866673.png (500x491, 264K)

Apologies for the bad pic, it's from the seller

Found a Springfield 1903 in Denver, fondled it and have been looking for one but could only ever find them in my home state for like $1300+, when I can even see them. Thought about it overnight and then went back to the shop the next day to find it closed. Ordered it over the phone today.

$855 shipped, 1910 manufactured, 1919 barrel
Was actually cheaper shipped than getting fucked by tax. Wasn't necessarily in the market to buy a new gun right now, but I felt I couldn't pass it up.

I get stoppages, too, but the case ejects, but the bolt locks open, don't know why, but it's probably a magazine issue.

Can anyone identify this rifle? M27 Tikka marked, 1933 dated barrel, M91 receiver, no import marks

Attached: M27.png (559x290, 143K)

looks like a mosin m8

You just answered your own question, it's an M27, but in a bubba'd 91/30 stock.

It's an Finn nugget in a Soviet M91/30 replacement stock.

>bubba'd

mosinnagant.net/finland/The-Finnish-M27.asp

Attached: M27 Stock.png (1181x430, 233K)

He's not wrong though. The stock is incorrect.

Disregard, I am retarded and cannot read.

Extremely rare rifle. It's in a 91/30 stock and if it's barrel dated 1933 and had a captured 91/30 stock put on it during the continuation war, it had to of had an original Fin stock and it was replaced due to being damaged.

The receiver looks like it's been run over by a T35 and dug out of the mud after 20 years and thrown into a Finn barrel and sent to the front. But, that's all just speculation.

I'd like to see what year that receiver is, and who made it.

Good deal. I'm gonna wanna see that receiver stamp, I love the old US font used at the time

This was one of the pics I took when I was in the shop. They're all close ups though.

When I look up the serial numbers it says 1905, another says 1906, the dealer told me 1910 but he seemed more interested in his modern firearms than his antiques. I'm leaning towards the an '05 or '06 honestly.

Attached: 36228748_2443299825683972_8259862537076473856_n.jpg (720x960, 77K)

That's the good stuff man, thank you

Location of import marking on the barrel would help to determine whether the stock was on the barreled-action when it was imported.

Missed out on getting an M48 bayonet on gunbroker a few months back and now that I have money the only one there is $90. Any good place to look for one that google wouldn't tell me about?

For mine the rounds frequently fail to clear the bolt and so it stovepipes or the case can even be parallel and stuck. So far I've always been able to just pull the bolt back a little, shake the case out and drop the bolt and continue shooting.

Is a mosin still a good first milsurp? I wish I was born 5 years earlier goddammit.

Attached: 1529365108486.jpg (480x313, 21K)

Mosins are still decent rifles, not as good as other rifles however no collection is complete without a Mosin.
The point of getting one because they along with the ammo being cheap is bygone.

Mosins are the fedora's katana of rifles. Get an SMLE instead

I want to display my guns pretty bad but I fear that someone may break in and steal them. I need a damn safe room.

Mosin never hurts as a bitch basic rifle. It used to be popular due to being piss cheap and ammo being practically free. That's gone now unfortunately, but you can still get a Mosin for an OK price (say ~$200) if you look around enough. As it is, Milsurp in general is drying up. We're seeing stuff like:
>$1,000+ for a Garand or M1903
>$400+ for a Yugo Mauser
>$400+ for a Mosin (fucking Cabela's, man)
>$600+ for Swiss straight pulls
And so on.

Who the fuck do they think they are?

Attached: Capture+_2018-06-29-06-24-07-1.png (712x517, 92K)

Umm....ebay?

>I fear that someone may break in and steal them
This is my big fear in life. My surp is my largest investment of all my belongings (poorfag, fyi), if I were robbed, I'd be fucked.
