12g is actually controllable way more then people realize. I own one in 12g, shot some defensive rounds through it and was able to keep it on target without smacking my face.

There's a big difference in recoil between 00 and slugs, even with a stock slugs will knock you around. i recommend 12g because there's a huge selection of it, if your worried about recoil there's an adapter for it so i can shoot minis reliably and they feel like nothing when you shot them

If you want a .410 go with a Smith & Wesson Model 410 that way you can conceal carry it and shoot 45lc out of it.

I got the 20 gauge since I actually mean to use it for home defense. It's probably the Goldilocks caliber for the Shockwave. 12 is too hard to control and .410 is too expensive. 20 is way more controllable, still delivers plenty of power for home defense, and isn't that much more expensive than 12.

For anything practical, though? .410 was created in the first place to impose greater handicaps on highly skilled clay target hobbyists by throwing a tiny amount of birdshot with a tiny and inconsistent pattern. .410 is iffy on squirrels and rabbits past twenty feet or so. Not yards. Feet. Ask people who hunt small game.

"Car gun" and "bugout gun" imply that you are giving serious consideration to choose this toy to fight for your life, and perhaps even your family's lives. I don't follow the logic here. A 10/22 with a red dot sight and a few of the factory 25 round mags would be a better choice for the recoil-sensitive, IF you used good quality ammo.
