Ballistol till the day I die
Why not both? Whatever ends up in my hand as lm reaching to clean a gun wins.
Either. I don't care and both will work.
fpbp
this desu
clp, ballistol is for fudds
Neither. Solvent + Oil. I'm still not sure what oil I should use once my tiny bottle of Hoppes runs out.
Ballistol for:
>Blackpowder guns
>blued steel and wood - guns
>dry skin
>deodorant
>leather shoes
>beard oil
>insect repellant
>kitchen knives
>case lube
Solvent and CLP (Robla Solo Mil + Gunex 3000) for:
>black guns
>I want this bore spotless guns
>defensive guns
ATF in a squirt can
Lots of detergents, cleans copper deposits like a mother
I just ran out of CLP so I was going to order more tonight. I've never used ballistol, should I get that in stead? What is different about it?
Clp is toxic, ballistol is very safe. Ballistol every time. I've been using it for a long time, it lubricates well, prevents rust well, and isn't thick or overly aggressive, just a really balanced compound and not harmful to health to boot. An old rag, toothbrush, bore brush, and ballistol is all I've ever used.

Remoil is good but not as good as ballistol. Remoil is really thin and dries out fast, when I used it I noticed the gun would hardly have any lube left after like a week whereas ballistol and breakfree stay on much longer. Just my experience
It smells much better and you can use it on fucking anything from metal to leather to wood and it's good for all of it.
CLP is good. Never used Ballistol
Hoppe's to clean, then motor oil or grease to protect and ensure proper function of the action.
I use Breakfree
But I don't really have an allegiance to it
They'll both clean your funs well. Get whatever you see first/cheaper. You really can't go wrong with either.
No wood tho.
ballistol hardens into a resin that can fuck your mechanics. it's only for those who are afraid stuff like wd40, clp and motoroils will give them the sanser.
You can "fuck your mechanics" by overapplying almost any amount of any lubricant. It's not Ballistol's fault.
plebs
ok. try running your chainsaw with it and report back.
Lard
>Lard
I wonder about that... is it useable or is the water and salt content going to do more harm?
I mean, you could probably even use vegetable oil, it would just be foul after some time. Animal lard is a little thicker it's almost like grease
>vegetable oil
you definitely can, there even was a company that sold canola oil and inrange made a video about it. the point is, lard has water and salts....
GUNZILLA FTW FTW
Ballistol for regular cleans. For deeper cleans I like to use Hoppes products.
CLP works well but a few hours of cleaning gats leaves me with a headache that lasts for the rest of the day, and that's with decent ventilation. Ballistol stinks but I know it wont kill any brain cells, and the occasional deeper clean with Hoppes doesn't give me any ill effects either.
Ballistol or nothingatall
Enjoy your cancer
I wonder if trying to sue everybody was part of their business model
"We'll put two thimble fulls of canola in a bottle and sell it for $20 and if anybody doesn't like it we'll sue them!"
Ballistol. It's just mineral oil with some additives, it does everything, it works on everything with no risk of fucking it up, it won't give me cancer. No point in doing fucking rituals with some special snowflake snake oil made out of unicorn's farts.
>It's got STENACITY
I like this stuff, makes my handgun slides feel very slick. Plus the purple color looks nice
I like how it adheres to surfaces like thicker motor oil, which is what I used to use. This being non-toxic is also nice.
water with 30% ballistol for cleaning, pure ballistol liquid for lube
why would you use water?
>mixing an insoluble compound with water thinking it will just give you a diluted version of the compound
I'm surprised your shit isn't all rusty. Just use all ballistol.
>insoluble
found the retard
This kills the fouling.
You're retarded. Everyone who shoots blackpowder knows the magic of ballistol + water. It's not insoluble, it emulsifies.
cleans better with water added, water will dry and leave a oil coating, corrosive ammo, ect
Don't forget frog lube is coconut oil and actually edible.
Ballistol...while it's more expensive, I like using the prepackaged wipes.
I've been cleaning with ballistol for 15 years.
Originally used it for knife, axe and tool maintenance...later for my guns after watching hickok45
I have, along with my hedge trimmer...no problems.
WD40
>canola oil
I’m not joking
You're a fucking boomer idiot. Enjoy wasting your money on meme oil bullshit. Act like a proper fucking white man, and buy a can of Remoil.
Good ol' mineral spirits and mineral oil
Just use brake cleaner as a solvent and WD-40 as lubricant. Fuck all this other meme garbage.
If you're cleaning an area that's safe to use water (meaning an area you can reach with a towel to dry it completely before reassembly), try using water and dish soap. I've used Ajax soap + toothbrush with damn good results. I have found literally no single better cleaner, it is THE best damn simple thing out there. It will leave the gun spotless but bone dry, so it's a great cleaner but does nothing to lubricate/preserve. Motor oil is actually very good lube for guns. Cheap, doesn't dry for a while, tends to not run, and designed for cold or hot weather.
>mineral spirits
You realize that's what they use as paint thinner right? Hoppes is fucking paint thinner. Guess what it does to paint on your gun?
I fucking hate the stuff, it's only usable on half my guns that are blued and even then it lightens the finish. I can't comprehend why this stuff is still sold as gun cleaner. Who's dumb enough to use it?
You realize wd40 is a solvent right
Imagine being THIS angry and THIS poor
>brake cleaner as a solvent and WD-40 as lubricant
so close user, brake cleaner for solvent and grease for lubricant master race
>literally poison
lol, enjoy your cancer.
fpbp confirmed
No one mentions G96 products?
No one mentions Lucas products?
Both of those are great solutions to cleaning and lubrication.
I'm not autistic.
CLP on metal
Hoppes for new or dirty bores
Occasional wax on wood
That's all you need
>rem oil
Yikes, somebody's never researched what he uses
I used to use CLP, but while cleaning a number of guns in a row, I had a horrible reaction on my hands which were full of the shit. Started burning and getting really itchy.
I just ordered some Balistol.
Same, it's why I use ballistol and wear nitride gloves whenever I clean guns nowadays.
Ballistol is only fifty cents more per ounce and it often goes on sale. Also I can use Ballistol on more more things safely than just guns. You could argue I buy more cans of ballistol because of this, but that also mean my household dosent have any other oil or lubricants like WD40 for door hinges and other general purpose things...heck I don't even own shoe polish because I spray a little ballistol on with a towel.
when cleaning the house I used to use four different cans of household cleaners, but now I only use pledge wood polish and vinegar based windex. kitchen, bathroom and windows. I still used a bleach based toilet bowl cleaner once a month though.
Do you think the gloves are necessary with Ballistol? I thought it was skin safe and non toxic. Is there something I'm overlooking?
Ballistol is non toxic, but the lead residue on your guns aren't.
I usually wide down my guns in storage with ballistol and paper towel without caring about my hands so long as I wash them after, but after range trips doing a field strip and bore cleaning, it's a good idea to wear gloves anyway, not because of the spray, but because of the lead.
Also if you are really worried, buy a cheap portable washer machine to do a light wash of your range clothes before putting them in your normal washer machine with your other clothes.
Hoppes is like 75% kerosene
I usually wipe down my guns with Rem Oil wipes, is that shit non toxic? This thread has me spooked.
The one and only. My how far Jow Forums has fallen
Weird, I used to swim in that shit when I used it on my service guns and personal guns, never had a reaction.
I don't use spirits on blued parts. Just oil.
>using bore cleaner as lube/preservative
Ballistol, the white man's all purpose oil/lubricant.
>thread about lubing
>post solvent
mmmm
>The smell of black licorice and sweaty socks
I'll choose Ballistol
Alright Jamal
G96 beats both of those
>cleaning your guns
>Implying Hoppe's doesn't also make lube
ISHYGDDT
Mineral oil for exterior.
Mobil 1 for interior.
Lucas Red N Tacky grease for anything that slides.
As for removing dirt/grease I just use Simple Green.
>Lucas

Milcom
Ballistol is skin safe. Here's their SDS: ballistol.com
you can drink ballistol.
Shit, you weren't kidding.
>Ballistol contains medicinal gra
de mineral oil, alkaline salts of oleic acid, several alcohols, Benzyl Acetate and an oil
from vegetal seeds. The mineral oil is unchlorinated and conforms to the specifications of US Pharmacopeia XX.
You should see the section on toxicity:
>In experiments with rats and rabbits the animals' entire intestinal tracti and stomachs were filled with Ballistol. The animals showed signs of uneasiness. After the Ballistol had been evacuated from their bodies as provided for by nature, the animals without exception appeared to be in excellent condition and showed no adverse prolonged side effects. It was not possible to establish an LD 50.
Das may boi.
Lard.
> animals' entire intestinal tracti and stomachs were filled with Ballistol.
> The animals showed signs of uneasiness.
Incredible observation.
Isn't that just naptha in a pressurized can?
>he cleans is guns
>he doesn’t shoot them until they break and buys a new one.
I've gotten a lot of nasty shit in my eyes, but PB was by far the most painful.
