Manual safeties and DA trigger pulls(particularly with exposed hammer) are useful for some situations like additional layers of safety while holstering a firearm but they aren't magic. Piggly wiggly would've likely flicked his safety off ahead of time or pulled right through a DA pull and done the exact same thing.
