did it bounce around in that turk?

Only thing that came close was painting a target for a Navy F/A-18. Apparently it killed 5 dudes so that was rad.

That is pretty rad.

Yes, AKM, Syrian Civil War

I was a private and still fairly new to my section so it was kind of wild being tasked with that responsibility so early on. Like only a few months out of AIT.

Which faction?

I never took a life but when I was serving in Afghanistan I saw someone far in the distance away from our platoon and I was so fucking sure it was a hadji so I took a shot towards the figure and 2 seconds later someone is complaining on the radio for us to hold our fire and I realize that it was a scout we had and forgot he was sent up. My squad leader was furious and wanted to know who it was who shot and nobody admitted to it but they definitely knew it was me.
I would have trouble falling asleep sometimes because I was so fucking close to killing a fellow soldier and I would have ended up ruining my entire life and ending someone else's all because I was an impulsive retard. I am getting anxiety just typing this.

I once left a grande poop in a taco bell. pretty sure that killed somebody, probably the poor sap who had to clean up my poop.

Can't you read? Mandalorians.

baste

Shit happens dude it's over

Not blaming you, but you had radios right? Why not just ask somebody else if they saw him too?

Thanks guys I appreciate it.

Because he was right in my line of sight and I was so impulsive that I just took a shot at him. I was afraid if I didn't do something now then I wouldn't get another chance.

>Has anyone here ever taken a life?

Three that I know of, two more probables.

>What weapon did you use and under what context ?

M16A2 with an M203 and it was combat operations in Panama and Somalia.

What was Panama like? Were you Marines or Army?

I understand how that can happen, heat of the moment. Be thankful it didnt go as bad as it could have.

Fuck, you old dude

82nd?

did they die when you killed them?

When were you in Afghanistan? Army or marines?

Fuck you Woolie, it's Fuckface now and you know it.

>be me, a NW florida cracker

feelsgoodman

lol don't worry, I nearly killed an entire friendly platoon with an M203 in Panama. You couldn't possibly be as much of a fuckup as I was.

>What was Panama like?

It's a nice country with nice people. But their government in '89 was shit (albeit we kinda had a hand in it too).

>Were you Marines or Army?

Army.

>Fuck, you old dude

I'm only 48. I'd like to imagine that's not geriatric just yet.

>82nd?

Was in the 193rd Infantry Brigade (5-87th) at the time. Was reassigned to 10th Mountain (1-87th) when I reenlisted/got promoted.

Two of the three guys I killed died more or less instantly. One lingered for about 5-10 minutes before he bled out. The two probables were guys I wounded and the medics came to take care of, but their injuries were so severe that I'm gonna guess that they didn't make it.

Army

I remember your story, with the nice shot through the window. Hello friend

>be me
>be in unit where we rarely see command team
>commander tells fist sausage he wants platoons to start training on their own
>fist sausage tells platoon daddy the dealio
>platoon daddy about to go on leave so he passes the buck to 1st squad leader
>1st squad leader thinks one of his team leaders should take charge for professional development experience
>team leader is a lazyboy so he tells one of his privates to do it
>at no point during this process has anybody in the command chain specified what kind of training is to be conducted
>private comes to talk to some of us in the barracks after we got off to ask what he should do
>drunk specialist tells him "grenade training"
>private says roger and runs off, think nothing of it
>everyone shows up on day of training at parking lot of pt field
>think we're getting transpo to training site
>cue private retard with 4 sacks of potatoes standing on the pt field calling everyone to fall in
>outlines training plan where we are supposed to conduct grenade training with potatoes
>everyone plays along for awhile but devolves into people throwing potatoes at each other
>I throw a potato and it hits some dude in the head
>he goes down, fuck he aint moving
>turns out he just got knocked out

You're in the wrong faction you fucking communist.

>siding with roaches or wahhabis

Le epic socialist hero collecting hero upboats with his rainbow six siege inspired AK engraving and the Coleman watch his mom bought him at Walmart

Keep those sandbags safe! They protect the soft skulls of the brown revolution!

Ay thanks for being out there, although I hate commies, Islamists or Ba'athists are 10x worse. Used to send a shit ton or arms over that border.

What was the Invasion of Panama like? Was it like the door kicking CQB of Fallujah? Or a amphibious assault like DDay?

I remember your story on /diy/

>siding with literally any of them

Fuck you don't have to repeat the story man

why is this dudes flag backwards

That was a whirlwind from start to finish

>expecting having to explain these colors don't run
>flag is actually fucked

Huh. One time on an AFB one of the joes bought a set of flags from the Airforce Uniform and Sales. Didn't pay attention and it was the wrong one. We went later to see if they had more out of curiosity and couldn't find anymore.

Privates are like the 8th wonder of the world..

It was a weird day
I'm going to school on the GI bill and the ROTC cadets always have jacked up uniforms. Like tapes switched, patches on the wrong arms, etc

>one time tried to come in my home
>take my chrome
>yo it's on
>take cover son or you're ass out
>"How you like my chrome?"
>then I watched the rookie pass out
>didn't have to blast him
>but I did anyways
>young punk had to pay

Do small mammals count?

I'm in the Reserves and all they do is waste my time and put Cadets in charge of tasks that a couple of Specialists could handle in half the time.

So I've taken to being an asshole to everyone.

Highlights:

>Bullshitting about where to go to lunch
>1LT company commander who busts tape comes up and asks if we're going to Roosters
"Roosters is for people who pass height/weight, Sir."

And after them switching the dates for AT for the third time he was telling us about how it was going to be fun and we would make some good money.
"Oh my god, you make less money than me in real life"
>"What do you mean? It's good money"
"Literally most of the people in the company take a paycut to go to AT, but that's not what it's about. We're just patriotic"
>"How do you make more than me? You're an junior enlisted who works construction"
"Well I didn't get a degree in civil planning then start working for a church group during the week then come to drill and give privates relationship advice after 3 divorces".

Honestly I don't know how I haven't been kicked out yet. I've only picked up a couple of counselings so far over this shit.

>company commander who busts tape
Jesus dude, I know thats the reserves but still. All of my company commanders were tabbed and either former rangers or formerly attached to SF. Like in fuckin shape.

The one time a cadet came to visit our unit or whatever he was treated like dogshit and wasn't allowed to actually see or do anything because it was all classified. Dude had to sit in HQ twiddling his thumbs the whole time.

>Honestly I don't know how I haven't been kicked out yet
Depends on your unit. I once told the BC to shut the fuck up and then got arrested another time, and my buddy got arrested once and was also accidentally awol for 2 weeks. We both didn't even get counseled. But I knew some dudes in a regular unit who saw people get kicked out for dumb shit.

who is this guy?

I can understand what was like in that area my grandpa was in panama for a bit, he said he enjoyed it. Hope you're doing alright

full story?

>this sounds retarded but it's completely plausible

He talks about his deployment and holds it over all the privates heads.

He deployed as a chaplains assistant.

We have multiple cadets and they are given tasks all the time of leading soldiers and shit and as a SPC who has been there for a while, it's really frustrating to be entirely ignored and under utilized. And I know what you're going to say, I should pick up stripes and do something. But I'm so jaded over the whole experience now that I don't even want to have partial responsibility over it. Some of my favorite moments:

>no one in the company but the LTs and NCOs have licenses for 3 years, when I ask why I basically get sent in loops of "Go ask SSG Cockgobble, who directs me to SGT Dickshitter, so on and so forth.

So then the brilliant aforementioned commander signs licenses for the entire company with no training while in the field. 2 days later a PV2 brand new to the unit jack knifed a level trailer with an FMTV.

>We now do PT on Saturday morning to help everyone stay in shape the 2 precious days a month we're there

>All training classes are foisted upon NCOs with no practical experience who want the brownie points.

>Get a new SFC stand in 1SG every few months, all the platoon sergeants are SSGs

>Get drilled on near peer threats by the CSM, then proceed to clean our M16A2s

>Every single time we qual we have to do multiple refires for females who can't qualify with their M9 (MPs)

Overall I'd say that life in the Reserves as an Engineer support element in a MP HHC company is the most miserable experience in the military possible and I cannot wait to get out in 2 years.

Tl;dr - user turned off the power on some equipment a maintenance guy was working on, and with the power off the machine closed and crushed the maintenance guy to death.

I've told the story a few times before but the short version is this

>maneuver element of my patrol pinned in field by automatic fire coming from compound on far side of field
>I'm in the support-by-fire element with the SMAW already primed and ready(we'd taken contact from the compound in the past)
>Launch two rockets into the firing points I can identify
>firing stops
>clear compound a bit later and find two splattered Hadji bodies

Pic related was taken shortly beforehand.

You Marine Assualtman? What year did you serve? Afghanistan? Also how the hell did Terrorists guard a fort

>be 18
>driving back from gf's house
>dark as shit
>road is barely lit
>windshield explodes and slam on the breaks
>fuckfuckfuckwhatthefuckthefuckwhatthefuck
>get out to check on the deer I hit
>hear broken garbled noise coming from under the front of the car
>it's a fucking person
>black lady wearing all black
>freak out and ask her if she's alright
>no response just more heavy breathing with bubble noises
>hands shaking too much to dial even 911
>drop phone on the ground and it goes under the car near the woman
>can't bring myself to reach for it
>have old phone in glove compartment
>open the door but hear the woman sobbing
>get on the floor to talk to her
>through blood, snot, broken teeth and blood she tells me, "everybody walk the dinosaur."

>I should pick up stripes and do something
Fuck no my man, sham shield for life

I actively avoided stripes. I managed to go over 3 years without touching SSD1.
>squad leader asks if I did it
>say yes
>text my boy in the o-room and have him put me in the company tracker as "yes" for having completed it
>continue this charade for years
>7 months before I get out, get new gungho squad leader who is clueless in our MOS
>wants to send me to BLC
>fuck off m80
>asks if I've completed SSD1
>say yes
>they go to the o-room to pick up copy of my certificate
>error 404
>tells me to print it out
>the truth comes out
>squad leader tells me to do it
>refuse
>threatens negative counselling
>refuse
>rinse and repeat for awhile until squad leader tells me to login on the unclass so they can do it for me
>ok m80 you do you
>manages to eventually send me to BLC a couple months before I get out
>BLC dates coincide with big training exercise that I miss
>never pick up anyways because mos points are super high

I think you already told this story user

I served 2008-12. I deployed twice to Afghanistan. the story happened on my second deployment in 2011

Yeah i have but its been a few months at least.

>be me
>pulling chutes for a jump
>my shit feels funny
>sinking feeling in my stomach and my balls are pulling inside of me
>see a senior who threw a fit over a gasden flag sticker on my truck

>swap chutes
>7 hours later I exit the bird
>watched someone pop a reserve
>guy had a total failure on his main
>sprained ankle
>oof
>take my boys to waffle house

>ACOG on SMAW
Haven't seen that before
>mismatched camo on cammies and helmet
Somewhere far away, a sausage major's eye just twitched

>ACOG and PEQ-15 on a rocket launcher
Weird flex but okay

>These are potatoes comrade commisar, why are we using potoes instead of real grenade

Attached: IMG_0408.jpg (1280x720, 115K)

That doesn't sound like a very safe feature. What ever happened to LOTO? Why does power need to be on to service the machine? That's pretty fucking stupid.

Not only that, but the shit appears to be zip tied to the SMAW.

That's SOP pretty much everywhere actually, most guys will use zip ties or paracord to secure optics and lasers on their rails so they don't get lost in the field if the mounting somehow fails.

That ACOG and PEQ are on rails

That's a tiedown to prevent reindeer games

>yfw the sheer dread of hearing that somebody lost some SI out in the field and nobody is going home until it's found
>yfw the overwhelming rage when it was some LT's shit and it never left his vehicle and yet you had to stay out in the woods till 3 am wandering around

fucking cunt

Attached: NOFLATTOPS.gif (576x304, 3.25M)

think i saw you post this on r9k years ago

The first three days were very intense but afterward it pretty much tapered off so I wouldn't call it much of a war, at least in comparison to Afghanistan or Iraq where you have sustained conflict going on for years.

I did enjoy quite a bit of Panamanian beer while I was there. Good stuff.

Hey

>Was it like the door kicking CQB of Fallujah?

Not nearly as protracted or intense. We didn't have to fight the PDF for every building like Marines did in Fallujah but we were under the expectation that would at the time. I believe that one of the reasons El Chorrillo (the district in Panama City where PDF headquarters was located) was basically burned to the ground was to prevent the PDF from escaping into it and fortifying it like the NVA did in Hue.

pic related, El Chorrillo definitely got the worst of it.

I'm doing pretty good. Had a rough couple of years after I got out because of some of the shit I saw overseas (especially in Somalia), but I think I've at least somewhat come to terms with it.

Early BDUs came with the flag patch on the correct facing. They switched some time around 1992 IIRC. My own set in Panama had the flag patch facing the correct way.

This right here is the reason why you try to get into special forces and not just conventional troops. Too many trigger happy retards will get you a friendly fucking.

Pretty certain the user you're talking about is from Texas

What other user said, squad still trusted you afterwards. Take comfort in that.

Yes in Reno, just to watch him die

kek, good thing you were a shit shot. That really should be what bothered you.

>Not only that, but the shit appears to be zip tied to the SMAW.
Fucking Bill and his super light rails are shit

Clever use of old ALICE clips
