Does anyone what kind of filter or effect is used in this photo? I see photographers using it all the time, especially for landscapes. Makes everything look like you're on a low dose of psychedelics.

I get that it's a war machine, but the Russians really ought to clean their damn planes more often, especially if it's painted white. Would be so beautiful without a coat of dirt.

Probably the most beautiful prop-driven aircraft ever built, certainly the most beautiful passenger aircraft.

It was an angel, sent from above, that was too pure to exist among mere mortals

Fuck you for posting this. Eurofighter is buttfuck ugly disgusting

Hard to find a decent picture of this plane, so it's just the one from wikipedia. I love how strange it looks with the long nose. It almost resembles the way a child would draw a jet fighter. No offense to the engineers. It's always interesting to speculate about the fighters the USSR never exported. I'm guessing they considered it too advanced at the time to sell to anyone else.

It's a good looking plane, even if it is disappointing as a 5th generation fighter.

There is something magical about the bear.

Fullbacks and Flankers are rad as fuck, but I can never tell them apart.

Republic Rainbow

There’s just something about the B36.
Not just how it looks, but what it stood for.

Agreed, maybe they'll make it useful in a decade or so...

>Fullbacks and Flankers are rad as fuck, but I can never tell them apart.
Really? The Su-34 has a pretty distinctive duckbill look. Side-by-side seating.

Help me anons. In my head I've seen a flying wing style plane that was project in the 90s maybe. Looked similar to a miniature B2. Is this real or am I imagining things?

For being a design from the late 40’s, it’s still going strong.

I always found the F-14 to be cool as fuck, I can't tell whether its because of the lingering Top Gun hype from my 90s childhood. It was just the quintessential fighter in my mind for a long time as a kid. If someone said fighter jet, my mind always went to the F-14.
Thanks, that's actually pretty helpful.

Love it. Got one parked down the highway that the public can go see. They are much larger than they appear.

The Lightning had overwing hardpoints too, usually they carried fuel tanks but they were also used for missiles and rocket pods too.

That pic is hawt, I’m not a huge fan of the MiG 31 but that’s nice...

Here's a basic rundown on identifying them in 3 posts.

>Su-27, Su-35, and J-11

Short canopy, one seat. Su-27 and Su-35 are the Russians, J-15 is the Chinese. Early -35s were prototypes andhad canards but later ones are production models and don't have them.

>Su-33 and J-15

Same deal, but are carrier-based and have canards, folding wings, and a tailhook

>Wildcard - the Su-37 Terminator
Single-seat Su-35 with canards and 3D thrust-vectoring nozzles. Often found in video games, but in reality it was just a technology demonstrator and only a couple were built.

Thanks, I was always confused by why some had canards and others didn't.

the flying pancake did look pretty cool.

I unironically jerk off to these threads and then feel really bad about myself. What has Jow Forums done to me?

>Su-30 and J-16
Long canopy, 2 seats in tandem (single file). Many have canards, some don't.

These are strike fighters, similar to an F-15E. They are capable of air superiority and interception, but also have a WSO in the back seat to handle precision weapons.

India has a particularly advanced model called the Su-30MKI (K=export, I=India). They have equipment and features imported from France and Israel, and pack some of their own indigenous features.

Malaysia, Indonesia, Vietnam, Myanmar, and Venezuela have these as well. (of course Russia too)

Attached: 1387645578241.jpg (800x533, 40K)

i find it odd that theyre all being assembled in together like that, normally youd see them assembled in some kind of order where one type is next to the other

AAAAAAAAH

Attached: AAR6.jpg (800x571, 422K)

>Su-34

This is the newest series with operational combat units stating in 2014. It has a very large fuselage hump and side-by-side seating, plus a very large tail-boom which houses electronics.

These are dedicated long-range interdictor/strike aircraft, much like the Su-24 Fencer they are replacing. They are similar in mission as the F-111 and Tornado.

These are strictly Russian with no exports.

PS: if you like the B-36, check out this video. Fairly infamous incident where a B-36 out of Carswell AFB made a treetop-height pass over a Fort Worth neighborhood.

Sorry to be the acshully guy but:

Su-37 was the 11th preproduction mode in the Su-27M project (Sukhoi internal name T10M) and isn't actually related to the current Su-35 as much, even though the Su-27M project was marketed as Su-35 for export. T10M-11 and T10M-12 were the only two planes in this project to be fitted with the AL-31FU engines, which aren't actually 3D thrust vectoring, but 2D and arranged in a clever way as to achieve more or less 3D vectoring equivalent operation. T10M-11 (the plane everyone knows as Su-37) was destroyed during a ferry flight in 2003 while the other one was transferred over to Russian Knights.
