Sorry, just never did it for me. I prefer the traditional levergun look.

>having a protruding pivot point that takes away the based quintessential carry ergonomics of a lever action
disgusting.

That's like nicest smelling turd, you know that, right?

id love to own one, whats the best caliber for one? classic 300 savage or should i get more practical 308

How do you get one with a military style stock

.300s all have cracked stocks

>Not BLR
>Not superior rack and pinion short throw lever system that is smooth as glass.
99 is still cool, but I wouldn't say best.

99 Savage in .250-3000 is one of my holy grails
Thank you o.p. for mentioning this most aesthetic rifle.

I really wish these were still being made and i wish someone specialized in mannlicher stocks for them.

> superior rack and pinion
So I can't speak to the BLR, but after shearing teeth across two different rack and pinion guides on table saws, I'm not a fan of the mechanism. The 99's lever appears much more robust to me if you had to run that fucker like a man on a stuck case.

Shame no new 99s are still being made, so Browning and Henry win by default.

A wild 7mm appears!

Glad to see that my constant Savage 99 shilling about a year ago didn't die in vain. It is both the best hunting rifle and the best lever gun.

this. that design makes me nervous a bolt is going to fly into my face

Thanks for the cartridge!

the savage model 99 is not better than the sako finnwolf in any way, shape, or form

They made a few thousand and shipped them all to Canada, one turned up on auction recently for, I think, like $8K

I fukkin lover her webcam stuff
Imma go fap

Perhaps someone should start a business that "Militarize's" durr huntin raffles, full length handguards, ladder sights, de tapping (if there is such a thing) scopes, for profit and so fudds will suffer the revenge for decades of sporterizing
>tfw you hear fudds bitching about how hard it is to find un militaeized pre 64's and model 99's

There are lots of early civilian semi-autos that would look bad ass in a full military stock config

It's not going to fly in your face, the track and pinion doesn't lock it closed, the rotating bolt does

Is that an uncommon chambering? I see quite a few of at the local gunshows.
tfw you see 50 uninterrupted feet of tables covered in 99s

It's a shame that sort of thing was only done for trials rifles

I passed up a 99 at the last gun show i went to. Fudd was asking $550 for it, was one of the older ones with the brass counter and jeweled bolt, still had some of the original blueing and stock was fine, overall 3/5 condition. Had an old Tasco optic on it too, made in Texas.

I offered him $500 but he refused, so I walked away. Did i fuck up?

no, its not like 99s are rare

Theyre making them this year in 30-06 and 405W. Check Winchester’s website for 2019 Shot Show specials

Jesus anyone have anymore pics like this?

The long ranger is better than the 81 or BLR on the merits of not having an awful trigger alone, and that's saying something for a lever gun

Forgive me for phoneposting.
This is the only picture I could find. It also says that the rifle is in the Remington museum.
