Prepare for conflict. Make allies while you can with like minded individuals and families. Get chummy with local PD and military IF they "see" things correctly. Organization and Communication are more important than individual prepping. SHTF in the US means Civil War, not "bugging out" or even farming (though that will be important). The people of Venezuela lack the capability to fight for themselves.

This year a tornado hit my area and it was enough for me to see how poorly prepared I was. Thinks I've learned:

I have a well, basically I have unlimited water if I can get the water out of the well. Therefore I need electric. I went and bought two generators this year and can power my home with them. They would be used for water.

Propane: I have a big propane tank for my stove. I have the ability to cook. I also keep several extra tanks

New chains for chainsaw. This is important. I couldn't start cutting up trees right away because I had to sit and sharpen the chains!

Gasoline! Rotate gas cans. Also a good siphon kit.

short-term might include 1-3 months of canned goods, using gravity water filters w/ 1-5gal capacity (Berkey makes good filters), sheltering in place, creating composting latrines, communicating and organizing & dividing any daily labor (outside of job) w/ friends, neighbors, family, and using whatever means to gather info on the situation at large
it goes without saying that personal protection (at least in the States) would include concealed carry at all times

long-term would potentially vary a great deal imo

Keep some non-perishable food and water around.
Keep a backup supply of any medications, and plenty of first aid supplies.
Keep some batteries for lights. Also lighters. Candles if you like them.
Paper towels and toilet paper. A lot.
A low-power radio so you know what the hell is going on.
If it gets hot, cold, and/or wet keep the appropriate supplies for that.
Toolbox, you can't call the handyman.
If you have space: a gas generator and fuel.
If you have tons of money: solar panels and batteries.

For a short-term disaster like in Venezuela that's pretty much it

There’s also the fact that there were (and still are) relatively few hospitals in the country. None are or were in areas matching the enclave matching the one described by Selco. Link related is the most comprehensive list of current hospitals in-country. Most of them were present for the war.
