From Moscow Defense Brief "Russian Anti-Armour Weapons and Israeli Tanks in Lebanon"
>"49 out of 370 tanks destroyed with Hezbollah utilized Metis-M (AT-13), Kornet-E (AT-14) and RPG 29. The Israeli armour troops were clearly not well prepared for action against modern anti-tank weapons. On the Israeli side, it is also clear that the armoured reserve units were insufficiently prepared, especially in the use of countermeasures (smoke, advancing fire to disturb aiming, reversal gear withdrawal, etc)...of those tanks hit, 18 were the newest Merkeva mk 4 version (from the 401st armoured brigade)."
Cannot even beat goat farmers hiding in cedar trees with old Russian weapons. They should have just stuck with the Shermans

Defeated by russian weapons

>49 destroyed

it;s 5. Way to insert BS into the actual link.

>Jow Forums expects us to think that the IDF lost 370 tanks in 2006
here's how you know it's BS.

I've seen like these same 3 pics for years now. You think with how much fighting the IDF does and with how many Merk's they have there'd be more than these 3 pics over the last 15 or whatever years

Stats are completely bullshit here. Israel didn't lose fucking 370 tanks in the 2006 war. That would be like half their active tank force at the start of the conflict. Total military personnel losses weren't even anywhere near 370.

Actual number was 67 total tanks hit, 22 tanks damaged of which 5 were a total loss of which 2 were Mk.IV

From Jane's August 2006 edition.

It was probably just as they were getting used to the Merk 4s

From "The Israeli defense force in the second Lebanon war"
Following the Second Lebanon War both Chief of Staff Dan Halutz
and ex-Deputy Chief of Staff Matan Vilnai pointed to one of the
reasons for the difficulties the IDF had faced on the battlefield – the
tendency of senior commanders to run the battle not by leading their
troops on the battlefield, but from their headquarters, which were
located in the rear...over-relying
on technology. Conducting the war over plasma screens may have been compatible with the assumption that on a battlefield where enemy forces are
destroyed by stand-off precision fire, optimal command and control is
achieved from control centers. At the same time, however, ‘it may have
changed the focus of our command’, Halutz admitted. Vilnai’s
diagnosis was that what the IDF had lacked in that war was a simple
command system. ‘You can run McDonald’s using plasma screens, not
a battle’, he said. Major General Yossi Peled criticized the new
state of mind that had permeated the IDF: ‘Something very bad has
happened to the IDF in recent years. We have lost the balance between
the arms, giving credit to the IAF’s ability to solve any problem. A
golden calf was created and named technology
The IDF of Moshe Dayan, that won the 6 Days War and Sinai Campaigns is no more. We see this with western army training. We relied so much on new tech that we forgot to train soldiers in the most important thing: tactics.

Yes.
