But I do own a shotgun, 2 actually.

Same. Every gun owner should have at least one.

what ones user?

I own like 30 fuck off

Then post em bois

I own 3.
Unfortunately my Benelli M1S90 went missing into Benelli CS hell. They literally have no idea where it went after being logged into their warehouse and it's been over 2 months.

I suspect they may have to comp me with a new shotgun. Insh'allah an M4.

>single sentence write prompts
Glowbot go the fuck away.

I'm not up to date on why Remmington is lacking currently, but I've seen people dismiss it here and remember Hickok45 mentioning there's politics involved?
Is that why? Or are there further issues? Currently looking at a new toy but this makes me think Mossberg or even Ithica makes more sense now.

Do I need to write a paragraph asking why you don't own a shotgun?

Shotgun threads are always boring for some reason

Because i own a fire arm ;)

Attached: 870tac.jpg (660x205, 17K)

I'm only interested in single shot 20 gauge for whatever reason. Also wouldn't mind a good Beretta but fuck spending 4k+ on a shotgun

Why does this exist?

dont complain about money...makes you sound poor.

Attached: AT.jpg (480x640, 112K)

First gun I bought was a Maverick 88
Best jack of all trades weapon
Excels at hunting birds but can be used for anything up to large game
Good home defense
Good truck gun

Poor penetration and range makes it bad for warfighting but other than that you can't go wrong

Why do any of us exist?

An often misunderstood weapon. Accurate out to 25 yards. Ask me anything you want to know.

>Poor penetration and range
But that's literally every shotgun, user. Unless you're loading slugs that's bound to be the case, and it can't really be held against any specific shotgun because that isn't it's purpose.

Oh, I wasn't too clear, I was rambling off why everyone should have a shotgun, not my specific one

How often do you have to clean inertia driven semi auto shotgats

But I have 3 - it's all I'm allowed :^(

>accurate at 230 yards with regular irons
I know AR fanboys that can't do that with zeroed in scopes. Honestly they're so versatile it's almost frustrating. If you aren't hunting at 500 yards or literally at full scale war then a good shotgun will do just about everything you need.

Attached: mossberg-maverick-88-feature.jpg (750x420, 71K)

I've put hundreds though mine without stripping it, but last time I used it it failed to fire about 10 times before it worked reliably, still not sure about why but will be willing to bet it's due a clean.

I have no issue spending a lot on guns I actually want. But the Beretta is more of a "hey that's neat" gun for me. Maybe one day if I get into clay shooting or bird hunting I might buy one

Hatsan Escort semi auto

It's a Russia baikal - only cost £120 but is the best shooting of the lot

thats a fair point

have a good day, friendo

you too lad. Enjoy that awesome shotty

Should I buy a Mossberg shockwave?

Want a light but powerful gun for going innawoods

I need to be able to wreck a bear if it gets uppity

Not to sound like a bitch, but they're awful to handle. You'd be better off with a maverick 88, 500, or 590.

I would suggest a full size pump with a folding stock

I'd second that, and if you go with it anyways it's probably best to take it to the range quite a bit before heading out Innawoods.
If a bear is within shotgun range I feel like eliminating as many things that could go wrong is best. Using a shotgun without a proper stock just makes me have visions of many issues, but I might be a bitch as well.

It would certainly be lighter though, so that's nice.

Real question is why dont u have superior Zulu Shotgun

He could put a sig brace on his Shockwave. A full size pump, even with a folding stock, could be uncomfortable to heft around if he's hiking a long ways. I also advocate getting a Shockwave because if MSM learns that it exists, they'll probably bitch and moan until it's banned. You never know how long we'll get to keep something cool.

I prefer the Mossberg because it has more ergonomic placement of the safety and slide release button.

I don't know about politics, but Remington is part of Freedom Group which I'm just learning has been renamed. I'm not sure what Freedom Group's sins are, but many people don't like them. Mossberg is still family owned.

>Mossberg 500
>Mossberg 600T
>FN SLP Competition
Probably going to grab a Stoeger Coachboi.

I've done ultra light hiking before, I get it, but if you're going to go all the way for carrying a shotgun, just get a sling and carry it like millions of military personnel have been carrying guns for hundreds of miles of movement a day for centuries. Otherwise, just carry a 10mm or something. It'll still drop a bear within danger distance, and if it's over 50 yards from you and there's no cubs around you shouldn't be shooting it anyway, it won't bother you.

And those would certainly be the advantages, which if you want a fun gun I'd fully advocate for having one. It looks cool and is made by one of the most reliable makers around, so why the hell not?

I was mostly responding to the thought of having to handle a bear part, which I guess other questions could be asked. If he's out specifically looking for bears and that's all he's bringing, I'd say look for something better suited. But yes, if it's a sidearm or even if there's no intent on looking for bears then it's well beyond better then nothing.

>I'm not sure what Freedom Group's sins are, but many people don't like them.
Remington's quality took a nosedive as soon as Freedom Group got their claws in. I've seen a lot of horror stories with things like receivers cracking, rust setting in almost immediately, consistent failures to eject/feed, etc. My friend has a Freedom-era 700 that is covered in surface rust despite him taking care pretty good care of it. For my part, I don't own any Remington firearms, but their pic related ammo has had a stupidly high dud rate for me. I'm talking 4 faulty rounds in a box of 50. My second box was 2 duds. Between what I've read and what I've seen, I would never trust my life to a Remington.

Would anyone here know the ballistic coefficient of pic related?

If not doesnt anyone know the BC of any given slug 1oz or heavier, preferably hollow point if that changes BC?

I want to know the MPBR for a 20" shotty shooting this shit at an 8" target

Attached: 721187.jpg (880x660, 44K)

I have never been harder for a shotty

If you're white, you should move here.

Are 870s worth looking at nowadays? I read their quality has gone down some in recent years. Really want to pick one up, just don't know which version to look for or what years to go for.

Attached: wm_7452991.jpg (5712x2956, 924K)

Have you considered testing it at your local range?

Police versions and old ones are fine. Just get a mossberg

Field testing the MBBR?
No lol.
It would be waaayyyyyy easier and cheaper to just plug the numbers in.
All I need is a Ballistic Coefficient and I know it's a shot in the dark that someone has the BC for this exact slug but figured I'd ask here.

I paid $400 OTD for a 1973 Ithaca Deluxe Featherlight in 12 gauge with a 30" barrel and checkering. Assuming it slamfires, did I get ripped off?

I think Freedom bought out Remmington in 2010. I could be wrong on that. Anyways just buy a used one from before the buyout or get a Mossberg.

Police Magnums are pretty nice for being used. Any Wingmaster is also pretty decent. If you can't get either and you're deadset on an 870, just be sure to oil it and scrub off surface rust with copper wool. Also, unless you're planning on throwing it out into a swamp, just a quick wipe down with a rag and not storing it in 90% humidity environments won't have hit rust.

Also side note:
Pic related might be my next firearms purchase. I don't mind waiting for the stamp.

Attached: 350px-Remington870Short.jpg (350x130, 12K)

Ballistic coefficients stop working when the bullet model doesn't fit the bullet
Surely you know that, right?

Pre 2006 870s are GOAT

Yo I'll add in an anecdote.
Because everyone loves anecdotes.
My friend bought a factory new 870 and it had failures to both feed and eject.
He blamed in on "a break in period"
Well his shotgun never did get properly broken in but it did start to rust like it had been broken in a century ago.

Did you actually try looking it up? Genuinely curious, user

Attached: 1513796399167532146.jpg (1080x1068, 161K)

Meant for

I haven't found the BC for that specific 1 1/4 oz HP slug no. And it's not a big deal if nobody answers.
Why do you seem so interested in someone asking a question in a relative thread?

Because it's on Federal's website if you had even a half ounce of brainpower.

No. It's not.

I bought a new 870 about 2 years ago, then sold it a year ago. Hands down the worst gun I have ever bought. Not because it did not function as advertised, but because the finish on it was so terrible that I had a constant battle to keep surface rust off of it, even in my humidity controlled safe that it was stored in.

I looked into getting a more substantial after market finish put on it and figured out that for the price of having g that done professionally I could just buy a different shotgun. So I did.

Now I have a mossy 500 that I use as a brush gun and am much happier with the form/function of it.

Fuck off. leave this is native land

Are you 100% certain?

Modern 870's are trash. They have absolutely terrible extractors which often break and their finish is cheap so they rust in a hurry. If you are dead set on an 870, get one pre-2005 or so. Seriously though, avoid contemporary Remington like the fucking plague. Their pistols suck. Their shotguns suck. Their rifles suck. Even their ammo sucks.

Owned one, never really shot it. Sold it to go to a fun I'd actually shoot.

He did that standing mind you, not benched.

Would a Shockwave in 20 gauge be a good choice for apartment defense?

Not at all. Solid guns

No, just get a full size 12 gauge with a stock or use your edc handgun

You sound very much like a bitch

>hurr can't handle a shockwave you must have bitch wrists
An extra 2 lbs breaks your back on a hike when tens, if not hundreds of millions of military personnel have been capable of slinging rifles over their shoulders and hiking 50 miles a day for the past century.

t. Can’t handle a shockwave

>taking the bait
You even mentioned it in your first post. Why would you reply to such low effort bullshit?

Why dont I own a useful shotgun is the real question.

Attached: Shotguns1.jpg (3456x5184, 3.29M)

Because I don't shoot trap, clay, skeet, or bird. Otherwise, shotguns are useless to non door kickers and inferior to anything else in a serious role. Pic related, couldn't have gotten rid of the POS soon enough

Attached: 20170907_215034.jpg (2048x1152, 597K)

>can't carry a real gun

Shotguns are obsolete.

Yeah, but so are revolvers, and bow and arrow, and punji sticks, but they still complete certain tasks better than some newer options given a set of constraints

Maybe, but they are fun. Fun matters user.

Thanks, was worried I was getting bent over.
Has anyone ever tried to put a Salvo 12 or other suppressor on one?

saving up for a berretta A400 extreme plus. for hunting, it should be neat.

Also finding an 1897 trench is a pain in the ass
