A 150 grain VLD and MMR 4000 powder is a nice combination at around 3000 fps.
That will send almost 700 foot pounds to 1000 yards.
Going to have mine rebarreled in 280 Ackley.
A 180 VLD at 2800 fps is doable.
That sends 1000 foot pounds to 1000 yards.
Not quite 300 Norma or 338 Lapua territory energy wise, but a lot more than 308.
Good enough for any grass eater in North America.

Jesus, dude. That's faster than some commercial 7mm Rem Mag loads in that bullet weight.

I'll stick with 30-06 thanks. If its good enuff for the United States Marine Core its good enuff for me heh heh heh

>180 VLD at 2800 fps is doable.
doesnt that take a non factory twist to stabilize though? Not a problem I guess if youre into the cartridge for reasons.
Im kind of with the other user in thinking youll have a difficult time with that velocity. 2650 fps territory is my guess and even the 3000 fps on the 150 is pretty up there for a 24" isnt it?
Ive seen a gun on 150 ablr ring steel with efficiency at 1000 yards though and that is factory barrel

That sure is a weird way to type .25-06 rem!

based

what type of bullets do fudds load in their 30-06? Or in general?
My guess would be something on the lighter side, maybe a 150gr soft led nose spire point with a flat base.

They do all kinds of wacky stuff just because they can. But I specifically remember guys on another forum making the hottest, heaviest soft-tipped loads they could for obliterating white tails

Superfluous drivel! Accuracy is more important.

all of those things are very relevant to accuracy

I was just shit posting.

I've seen them across the board, with a preference for heavier bullets (read: heaviest) because that's all 30-06 is really useful for anymore

My grandpa is a fudd and only shoots 220gr CoreLokts out of his 30-06 Remington 700.
>muh remshit
Relax zoomer faggots and retards, its from the 60s.

Nice. I only shoot 150 grain at 2700 FPS through muh M1 like Jesus intended.

.270 has been king since O'Connor crowned it.

‘Remington Core-Lokt shells’
Usually 150gr or 180gr whatever fleet farm has on sale
But the older the bullet the better they are so be sure the lead is oxidizing them you know it’s ready to hunt with

30-06

I don't understand your question.

Wood bang

Cartridge is not the same thing as bullet. Different bullets behave very differently in flight and on target

30-06 is a cartridge. A cartridge is a combination of brass, bullet, primer, and powder. You can load different bullets in a given cartridge size, with differences in shapes, weights, and material.

Corelokts are mostly what I see older guys using as well. I used to use them before getting into handloading, really not a bad bullet.

You’re right they really aren’t a bad round for hunting, I’m sure somewhere I still have a boatload of them from before I started using more Hornady

My fellow Swaro nigger, noice.

>Blah blah blah
No. Wrong.
>Just kidding

The absolute state of Jow Forums

Yeah its funny when I do the same and pussies cry about the recoil.
>be me
>in muhreens shooting with bros
>cpl is with us
>big roided asshole noone really likes
>shooting on weekend with new 3006 he bought
>bring 220gr rounds
>THESE ARE THE STRONKEST BROH TRY UM
>cries about recoil after first shot
>mfw I laugh at him telling him my grandpa shoots these regularly

I shoot a lot of relatively big boy loads and I still wouldn't want to shoot 220gr on the reg. Your grandpa is tougher than me
