Do what you want. If you are asking why I wouldn’t, it’s because I just prefer shotguns and I live in an apartment. A waterfowl hunting load in a shotgun will still do a heap of damage, but will bleed energy faster than a rifle bullet.

I'm all for 20 inch being the best inch, but home defense specifically? There's other guns that you can use for the purpose.
If that's the best you can do, get a 20" that's usable in multiple applications, but get a good handgun that's always loaded and with you and you'll be g2g

11.5 “ will still blow a big ole in him just the same as 20” in close range if you use quality Ammo like 77gr TMK or OTM.

its true that you can use 20" in CQB and its shit tastically overrated the 6-9" off the M16 that it took to make Mk18.
But i'd make a pump and dump gat for CQB. make a tanker 9mm pdw pistol AR and let the police have it after they "check it in for evidence.

Go to an I door range and fire an AR without earpro on. I like AR's, 5.56 is a perfectly adequate round, but holy shit I would never use one in a situation where the most likely scenario for actually using it is firing it in a cramped hallway without any hearing protection. I honestly think everyone who recommends one for home defense without a suppressor has never fired one I doors. PCC or shotgun all the way for me.

As long as the weapon is at or within 40 inches for an overall length, than it is fine to use in a cqb setting. Now of course for home defense, where cqb is going to literally be the only use for the gun, than having a short boy is ideal. But I just hate it when fags say 20 inch AR’s are unusable in “modern conflicts”. Makes me wonder if 90% of Jow Forums are fucking 5’4 manlets.

You are exactly what I'm talking about. Noise isn't the only issue, the concussive force from such a high pressure round, amplified even more because it's going to reverberate off the walls, can really fuck you up, even in the heat of the moment. I've done it, it's awful. And that's not even getting into the guaranteed damage you will do to yourself assuming you live through the encounter.
"Hurr durr I'll ignore the noise" is pretty much "I'll just close my eyes if someone tries to flashbang me and it won't effect me" tier thinking.
