It's morning in America.

It could have an easier job that pays a bit less but I must buy milsurp before it goes up in price.
First for panic buys.

>before it goes up in price.
The ride never ends.

Got my CMP Garand. Action cycles smoothly and everything seems to be in working order, but when I fire it ejects the spent case and closes on an empty chamber, and I have to rack the charging handle to chamber the next round and repeat the process. Think the clips that came with it might be too tight. Anyone have any experience like that?

Finally got my 1903. The seller shipped in somebody's grandpa's 70 year old gun case that was completely disintegrating, so it was coated crown to butt in yellow foam dust. Took me forever to clean

That M39's stock tho

>Finally got my 1903.
It looks great user.

Lovely, you gonna take it to the range soon?

>dismounting the bayonet to slice the pie

DO IT PROPERLY

I finally joined the 1903 owners club. Receiver date puts her as a 1907 manufacture but she was rebarreled in 1913.

Too late; it's already happened.

So hot.

thanks
got a ton of 60's production West German 30-06, gonna destroy some paper and bowling pins on Saturday

1903 thread. I recently talked myself out of buying pic related on a previous listing
gunbroker.com/item/798300392
Manufactured 1912 (I think), all blued, gorgeous stock, but most importantly BERKELEY PD rack tag on the buttstock. Probably overpriced sure but the thought of this menacing college hippies is just too cool.

I talked myself out of it because 1) I already have a 1903; 2) Price; 3) pre-800,000 serial number.
Yeah yeah I know they're probably safe but in the very unlikely event it blew up I would NEVER hear the end of it

Attached: Berkeley PD.png (800x600, 271K)

I just picked up a pre-800,000 serial number as a shooter. I say go for it.

It'll be picture time later today. This bitch ugly, but the bolt is smooth (now) and the bore is outstanding.

What's a good price on a Type 30 bayonet these days? I feel like I need one, considering that the rest of my rifles came with them. Also, what is a good price on a Type 30 Arisaka?

Attached: February 2019 Stabbies.jpg (1775x3625, 3.39M)

As I understand, Type 30s kinda fall into that sellers price category since they don't come up all too often. Right now there is one on Gunbroker at a current bid of 400 something but it has over a week left, so price will definitely jump.

Personally I don't think I would swing much over $1000 for one but I don't have a burning itch for one.

There's a mis-matched one on J&G for $730.
jgsales.com/japanese-arisaka-30-bolt-action-rifle,-6.5x50,-koishikawa,-hook-safety,-g-vg,-c-r,-used.-p-101123.html

They're not going to bring a lot of money unless they're still matching with un-cancelled 'mum or are Finnish Civil Guard rifles.

Attached: Imperial_Japanese_Army_soldiers_march_through_Tokyo_on_their_way_to_fight_the_Russo-Japanese_War_190 (2694x2718, 898K)

There's one at a local auction that looks to be in decent shape. No cleaning rod or sling. The mum was cancelled with the stacked cannonballs of the Tokyo Artillery Arsenal. I have no clue on bore condition or matching numbers but the wood hasn't been sanded or refinished, just dark from age. It comes with the bayonet though and it looks complete, aside from the cleaning rod.

*I only ask for Type 30 Arisaka prices because there's one at a local auction that looks to be in decent shape.

I know bore and matching numbers also are important in determining price but any rough estimates on what it will come out to?

500ish, upwards of 700 isn't unusual. They're fairly uncommon.

Wouldn't you rather have a 1917 WF Mauser Gew.98 with SG.98/05 bayonet, user? Or a 1918 Danzig Kar.98a with an SG.84/98 Type III? Or a US-marked Ross M1905 with bayonet? Or a Philippine Constabulary Springfield Model 1899 Krag?

I'll allow it.

Just get a G98 like says, they are worth it.

Got a Remshit m1903, a remington p17 and a p14 that has "RE" in an oval on the receiver, guess thats a remy too?

Attached: DSC02404.jpg (2560x1920, 1.98M)

You cheeky guys, you know exactly what I'm talking about. But yes, I would rather have a Gewehr 98, Kar98AZ, or Ross, though there is also an M95 that I'm eyeing. I just wish that it wasn't an hour drive from my school and that they would describe bore condition.

I´ve recently aquired an argie mauser 98 longboi that has been converted to 30-06.
Beside my swiss g1911 my most accurate milsurp.
Two long brasilian mauser 98s never fail to hit accurately too, you cant go wrong with a long mauser 98 if crown and bore are ok.

Is it a L O N G M95?

Attached: Steyr M95 profile.jpg (3000x935, 782K)

About to tap my grandpas k98 bring back for a burris scope I traded a bag of feed for. It's been sitting in a safe since he got it here and is only lightly patina but I know a guy who will reblue it for me for $100.
Id post it but Im phone image blocked

>scope on a k98
You fucking tasteless faggot. It's 2019 and we use red dots now

Oh look a (you) farmer. How typical.

Attached: Argentine 1909 snow2.jpg (1719x2999, 2.66M)

>there is also an M95 that I'm eyeing
You should get that longboi; join us. It looks like it might even be a 1919-accepted rifle like mine (barrel acceptance date looks like "-19", and serial number suffix "H" was used in 1919).

Attached: M95_08-07-2017_B.jpg (1600x900, 1.91M)

It is a L O N G B O I
There's quite a few things to keep my eye on for this auction. I'm not sure I'll be able to go though as that weekend interferes with my spring break and I'll be three hours away back home.

na its an arsenal conversion.
non bubba´d

Attached: 20170329_204135.jpg (4160x2336, 2.46M)

Picked up an arisaka bayonet for my type 38, it was pretty ugly but cleaned up alright. Markings indicate Tokyo manufacture and it has a hooked quillion. What's this W though?

Attached: 20190314_141044_crop_604x304.jpg (604x304, 129K)

$600 worth it for a near perfect looking Springfield Garand?

obviously not. let me know where, though, so I can prevent any poor fools for falling for such an egregious scam

Gib me deal now.

Either the seller is an idiot or there is something wrong with the rifle and they're trying to move it fast.

$600 is almost too good unless it is an old collector that is selling off their collection before they pass. This is below CMP prices so keep a skeptical eye out.

Here's the new type 38. Honestly, I should have waited for a better one, but done is done. It'll be a good shooter, but I may need to replace the stock, which is a fucking shame because the stock and handgaurd match the rifle.

Attached: 20190314_142551_crop_895x254.jpg (895x254, 245K)

There's recoil cracks on both sides where pictured. I can't separate the cracks, except a tad bit on the other side, so I'm fairly certain they've been repaired already. Oh well, we'll see how she holds up shooting

Attached: 20190314_142625_crop_1008x604.jpg (1008x604, 414K)

I have a 99 with the exact same cracks that got repaired at some time in the past. They've never caused an issue.

Good to hear. I'll get ammo and dies soon.

To reseal or not surplus stocks Jow Forums?
For actual value I know modification to any gucci collectible is purely stupid for financial reasons, but for cheap yugos and mosins is there really any harm in sealing the stock up to make it more durable for use?

No. The only answer you'll get here is fucking with the stock is only okay if it's already bubba'd or necessary to save the stock. Cheap yugos and mosins aren't so cheap any more

>mfw I want to buy milsurp because I've got a boner for WWI and WWII history
>mfw I want to buy pre-ban semi-autos because I've got a boner for late 20th century foreign/domestic military service rifles.
>mfw it's all jumping up in price constantly and it will never stop.

Is $500 a good price for a Russian Capture K98k? Waiting on pictures of it now but the seller says it has an excellent bore and it comes with cleaning rod and sling.

That's honestly not bad. I'd jump on it

Perhaps that, or perhaps the operating rod spring is out of spec?

Well, depending on the condition it's in, I might have a new mauser.
>tfw I tell my dad that I might be getting a RC K98k if it's in good shape
>"oh that's nice. I bought 5 of them when they were $180 a piece"
Thanks Dad.

Do yourself a favor and get a neck sizing die for 6.5 Jap. It will extend your brass life tremendously.

Nice find on the 98 action argentine, jealous

Canonball markings look off and that W definetly isnt a japanese marking. Post more pics? Maybe it was a korean rearsenal

Any idea why there would be a serial number on an M1917 bolt? I'm positive its not a p14 bolt, flaming bomb proof and .303 won't fit in the bolt face

Attached: 20190314_184017.jpg (4032x3024, 3.23M)

A vaguely British looking "GM" in a circle with a crown. I was hoping I'd get a bolt that headspaced a little better, but this headspaces the exact same. Damn

Attached: 20190314_185751.jpg (4032x3024, 2.02M)

Those are the only markings anywhere, besides a mostly rubbed off SN on the pommel. Blade still had cosmolineish stuff, but the outside looks like it was stored under water.

Actually just saw this on GB a few minutes ago, looks like a neat oddity

OP is a man of good taste and refinement matching period firearm with pie that was popular during the same era.

Anyone know of any books that cover the Vz. 24?

I'm pretty excited just picked up an 8mm Type 38 for $350. Just a little bit of surface rust and replace the top butt plate screw.

Attached: 20190314_223137.jpg (1984x1120, 263K)

Think it could be too stiff? Seems like it might short stroking, it’ll eject the spent round but not strip a fresh one off the clip, and occasionally I’ll have them get stuck halfway out of the clip on their way into the chamber

I'm a little embarssed to admit this, but I've been collecting guns for about 2 years now (I'm up to 13 now, all C&R or antique) and I have yet to shoot any of them. How many guns do you typically take to the range at a time, and how many rounds do you put through each in a range day?

Attached: 1552613245156.gif (350x270, 809K)

>yet to shoot any of them
Wtf user.

When i go out to shoot i bring 2 pistols, either my ak or m16, and 1 or 2 surplus bolt guns. I will typically fire 100 rounds of 9mm, 100 rounds of 556 or 762 and 40ish rounds of surp rounds. I go like every 2 or 3 weeks. Only gun i havent shot is my arisucc

2-3 guns and maybe 60-100 rounds for each. usually last 2-4 hours depending.

I just purchased an no4 mk1 Enfield Sporter and I need a new stock for it to restore it to it's former glory. Does anyone know where to get no4 mk1 Enfield stock? I can't find the main portion online anywh6

Doesn't Liberty Tree Collectors have them?

Picking up my Ross Mk II from the post office later today! Hopefully there are no surprises... wish me luck friendos

Attached: 3AC47AAB-F48B-4539-A569-CF12348CD710.jpg (511x392, 37K)

They have some portions of the stock sets but not everything

Nice! Where'd you find it?

Ebay is the only place left, until Springfield sporters reopens. How much?

I'm looking for an EARLY MAS36 sling for my French-capture/assembly svwMB. The ones on Liberty Tree are the late ones and don't fit. WTC?

Attached: K98k svwMB.jpg (3103x1717, 1.12M)

>Springfield sporters

Never heard of them sadly. I will have to keep searching ebay I guess. How hard would it be for me to get wood to match which came from different places as long as it is walnut?

At an auction house in California a few months ago, I had to get it imported into Canada.

Attached: 67B8248E-FB10-4337-9C37-F155D5108EA0.jpg (1024x682, 21K)

An absolute pain in the ass.

Thank you /msg/, I took my RC K98 to the range first ever milsurp. You have all thoroughly convinced me to get more milsurp.... now I just have to find either an Arisaka or 303. Lithgow. Decisions, Decisions.

>tfw single load only longarm range
Fuck Australia.

Where's the problem if I bought, dressed back in original wood, and then kept or upgraded to A4?
gunbroker.com/item/803099986

I know it will be a mock-up A4, but I already have an A3 plinker that needs a new front sight blade because that one is made for 200+ yds

Attached: 20161209_205759~01.jpg (2560x1092, 586K)

>m39
Im so envious of you.

I need some help guys. Yesterday, someone posted a RC K98k for $500 so I messaged him. He messaged me back and I asked for some pictures, especially of the bore/crown and he sends six pictures of just an overiview of the rifle. Here is one of the pictures, which I though looked a lot like one from Commonwealth Arsenal on Gunbroker. Also, he keeps repeating "I want you to know this is a great rifle in excellent condition and a very good buy for you,How do we process on this, Thank you" in every response. Can anyone reverse image search for me as I'm having problems when I try? And do you think this is a scam?

Attached: xxx.jpg (570x397, 102K)

>which I though looked a lot like one from Commonwealth Arsenal on Gunbroker.
Bunch of their listings have the exact same background. Scam as fuck user.

I thought so. I had a bad feeling when reading his response to my questions and it got even worse when I saw the pictures.

Here's the response that came with the pictures.
>Hello user yeah it has frosting in the bore like any K98k Mauser will,Yes it a rifling crisp, The crown is in anexcellent,No damage on the sock but there is a littlecracks, Norust on any metal, Attachedbelow are some picture's of the Rifle showing all part's of the gun, I want you to know this is a great rifle in excellent condition and a very good buy for you,How do we process on this, Thank you

And there were no pictures of the crown or rifling like I asked.

It's new to me and I already love it. Coworker decided to give it to me for helping him out, and I'm very grateful for it.
Next purchase, a can of hand handnugget food.

Attached: SmartSelect_20190315-102150_Gallery.jpg (1080x720, 859K)

Realistically, you should dip. Its obviously a scam. Try to meet up though, just for fun.

I might be shooting mine tomorrow.

Attached: Nagant Revolver profile2.jpg (3000x2000, 1.83M)

I had some PPU laying around I got cheap
>5 bucks for a baggie of loose rounds hell yeah
So I got to shoot it today, it's a fun little handnugget.

Attached: 1552592614566.jpg (231x225, 6K)

I want one so badly, but I need to actually start saving money.

And what does absolute pain in the ass refer to in regards to changing wood color.

I've got like 200 rounds of the surplus stuff, It shoots really well but cleaining is annoying.

Attached: Nagant Revolver profile.jpg (3000x2000, 1.67M)

Oh, I thought you meant tracking down an entirely original set that was correct for the country of your rifle. The most common sets left are the post war beechwood MK2A sets, and they're a blonde color so they'd probably take a stain well. I don't think it's all that bubba either, since you're staining an already mismatched set. Just don't try to pass it off as original. How much did you end up paying for the rifle?

>MK2A
don't know where the A came from

I traded 500 rounds of 5.45 and $150 bucks for it. I have no use for the 5.45 anymore as I sold the rifle that it went to so I feel like I got it for a decent price.

I am thinking of taking a no4 mk2 wooden foreend and then modifying the rear of it to appear to be a no4 mk1. I have no plans to ever sell this I am planning to make a T sniper clone and it will be obvious it is what it is.

Are there any difference between the Mk1 and mk2 besides that metal piece in the rear of the stock forend?

Caution be damned. I just ordered a forestock for a Mk2 to make it into a mk1 in appearance after seeing this photo and a old fellas saying it can be done.

Attached: HPIM0522.jpg (2418x1820, 273K)

Any advice on getting an m1903? Things I should look out for/ decent price? It will be my first bolt action
